Elwood was a fun host with a lot of knowledge about Kauai and the Hawaiian culture. This was a big plus for ourselves. He spent a fair amount of time with us to get the optimal value for our time on Kauai.
In general Kauai is a great place to visit if you are looking to escape the crowds and really get a feel for the more natural side of the islands.
Be prepared for the sounds of a rural setting. Roosters and birds can be loud. You may want to consider ear plugs.
The entire week spent on Kauai, with Elwood as our host, was a great experience. One I would hope to repeat.

The location is a few minutes from downtown and the Waimea Canyon. The Waimea Lodge House makes you feel less like a tourist and more like family member of Elwood & Momi.
Elwood & Momi were welcoming and made us feel at home while also respecting our privacy. They provided clean towels, linens, and their was a light breakfast of coffee, papaya and pastries each morning.Elwood shared a book with us and CD of music. It was important to him that we enjoy our time on the islands.
The shower water temperature was cool/lukewarm which I found refreshing on the island. Also there are a lot of roosters in the area and neighbors have dogs. I suggest earplugs for this location.
I would highly recommend this location to family and friends, and I hope to visit again one day.
I highly recommend staying at Elwood and Momi's lodge house. Elwood is extremely kind and welcoming. He's the perfect person to give you very good plans to visit the island, to tell you the story of the Hawaiian islands and to play you the ukulele. The house is clean, spacious and cosy. The room, the living-room and the kitchen are very confortable. Every morning you have a breakfast with fresh fruit of the garden. We had very good time with Elwood.
It was an amazing experience and I will totally go back to Waimea Lodge House! The guest were awesome and they teach us some hawaiiand and hawaiian dance, the breakfast every morning hawaiian style was very good! also the were very helpfull wit any question we had. The room was so big and had everything you need, the bed very confortable! You can also park your car on their property We could only find 2 things we didnt like to much, the water for the shower was cold and the room had a lot of spiders! It is normal, because is a natural place do.
Great value and relaxed atmosphere. Very handy to the waimea canyon and check out the salt ponds state park - good safe swimming, blue waters, white sands and palm trees :-)
We had a great stay at Candis and Elwood!
They are very friendly and knew the answer to everything: where to hike, surf, see the best unset and much more...
Elwood took my girl surfing several times to a local spot with great waves.
Waimea is a quiet seatown close to beatiful nature (Waimea canyon) and to the best surf and snorkle spots on the island...
The room was great. But meeting El was the best......Karen and I are grateful he was willing to share his personal history and stories about the island and his heritage. Awesome!!! We'll be back! Aloha!! and peace to you Candis and El
Cool place, cool people. Was really nice to stay there.
The location was great, very close to Waimea canyon and you get the feeling of local life. We also enjoyed star gazing at night right in their front yard. Not too many places to eat in the neighborhood and their kitchen was not available for cooking, so you might want to plan ahead. On the 2nd night, hot water accidentally went off and unfortunately we couldn't reach the hosts, but otherwise had no problems. The B&B operates as a commercial hostel, which was a little different from the other places we have stayed through Airbnb before, but overall the hosts were friendly and the house offers all basic items.
