  • The cabins were great and perfect for a weekend catching up with friends - loved that we were able to segment into two groups but still easily join together. We especially loved that the deck overlooking the river was built around the big tree. Beds were really comfy. The only slight issue was it was a chilly, wet night and it took a while to get the pilot light on for the heater but we eventually got things warmed up after a phone call to the responsive owner.

  • Everything was great. The location is idea -- right on the river about one minute outside Guerneville -- and the space, both inside and out, is perfect for a group. The two cottages are well stocked with kitchen equipment, plus a big outdoor grill, so it's an easy place to cook. Thanks!

  • We had a great stay. Anne was a very attentive host.

  • Our stay at the cottages was lovely. The cottages themselves were more than adequate for our needs, and we were able to cook large and tasty meals with the kitchen and sit out on the porch and eat, overlooking the river. The location on the river is great, if you don't mind being in a relatively tightly-packed residential neighborhood. We were a short drive from the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, which is a great place to spend a day walking around.

  • A group of close friends and I stayed at this cabin for a low-key, relaxing NYE. The two small cabins were lovely, however, we didn’t feel very welcomed by the property owner, Anne. Upon arriving, she immediately treated us with caution and distrust. We are a group of late 20s, early 30s professional adults and Anne eyed us as though we were about to ransack her liquor cabinet and refill her vodka with water. I’m not sure what gave her the impression that we were untrustworthy, or if that is just her typical behavior, but it was very uncomfortable. Over the course of the four days we had several issues with the property; when we got there the heater in the big cabin was broken, then the pellet stove was making a horrible screeching sound, later the small cabin reeked of gasoline, and finally the hot tub would only heat to a lukewarm 95. All of these minor issues were attended to by Anne, but always begrudgingly. I don’t think I saw her smile once. The clincher was the email I received from her 36 hours after leaving, yelling at me, accusing me of stealing the key to the small cabin. The key was in the lock-box for the big cabin. My partner had mistakenly put it there. He didn’t realize there were two separate boxes for the two cabins. I was, of course, apologetic, but it honestly seems like a pretty harmless mistake to me; one that, upon simple investigation, could have been easily rectified. Overall, we had an incredible time, Guerneville is beautiful, but it was in no way enhanced by our interactions with Anne. She might want to consider hiring a manager if she dislikes interacting with people so much.

The photos of the two cabins also make the place appear far more modern than it is in reality. We liked the rustic edge but if you’re looking forward to the modern space featured in the photos, you may be disappointed.

    Response from Anne:

I have hosted hundreds of guests and have over 200 reviews on my airbnb site. These reviews reflect a long history of co-operation and attention to guests and my property. I was quite surprised at the negative and very personal tone of this review. My total interaction with this guest including email was probably less than 15 minutes. This is a turn key property that is designed to be easily accessible to guests, cleaners, and maintenance personnel. The small cabin had a propane odor that is discernible when the tank is running low. The propane company came out, refilled the tank, checked for leaks and found no problem. Previous guests had not complained about the pellet stove or the wall heater not working. I had a routine maintenance performed on the pellet stove and the wall heater is working fine. There was nothing wrong with it. The hot tub has a brand new control panel, cover and cover lifter. The control panel can be easily toggled between economy and standard settings. I was able to direct this guest on setting it to standard when she requested a hotter temp. All the pictures in our listing are exact photos of the cabin and furnishings . Nothing is altered or misrepresented. Several people were quite inconvenienced when my next guests arrived at midnight and could not get into their cabin due to a misplaced key. Luckily I was able to rouse the house cleaner who had spare keys. I never yelled at or accused this guest of stealing anything. There has been an additional lock box installed with spare keys in case this situation arises again.
All the issues this guest raised during her stay were dealt with efficiently and to her satisfaction. She never indicated to me that she was unhappy with the property or our interaction. She requested and was given a discounted rate over a busy holiday and granted a late check out with no additional fees.

  • Great cabins!! Fun for a group... Even in the winter it was beautiful -- and cosy with fireplaces and hot tub! Can't beat the location... close to Guerneville but feels removed. Wonderful wineries nearby. Thanks for a great stay, Anne!

  • Nice little cabins -- a 1BR (email hidden) next door to each other on the same property. Anne has obviously been modernizing the cabins recently. The decor is very Ikea but also very tasteful and clean. The decks and river view are fabulous, and there's a small private dock with a rowboat. Perfect for two couples or two small families, or for one large family.

  • Anne was attentive to our needs, which were few. The cabins, location, and amenities were great. The kitchens were well equipped, the cabins cozy, and accommodating 9 adults was easy. Great winter vacation!

  • Cabin were great!

We came here with some friends for my boyfriend's birthday and the place was the perfect location for our "very manly" theme. The patios were perfect for grilling steaks (Willowside meats in Santa Rosa- HIGHLY recommend). The fires were easy to operate and the hot tub worked perfectly.

We all agreed we want to come back in the summer when we can enjoy the river more, although the view of it from the patio is great!

FYI it's more of a corporate/property rental operation than the original AirBnb owner-operated model. That being said Anne was super available and took great care of us!

    I definitely recommend this place.

  • What an amazing experience we had at Anne's Riverlily Cottages. Anne was so wonderful and has such a great property, right on the river. We had a large group coming together to have a goodbye party, and the space was perfect. Having two cottages, one to be louder and one to relax and be more chill was just what we needed to make sure everyone had their needs met. Everyone that participated in this weekend all want to come back and use her cottages for future events. Thanks Anne for everything. We had the best time. :)
