About this listing
A warm cozy room to feel at home in, convenient and fast to get pretty everywhere you like in Rome, located in a beautiful building on a quiet street not far from Termini, the perfect accommodation to live Rome as a local
The room, played on black and white, is on two levels with a king size bed on the mezzanine and a wardrobe, a rocking chair, another chair, a desk and a library downstairs.
My house is a modern, cozy and quiet apartment located on the ground floor of a historical building with all comforts.
There are three private bedrooms, one for me and two for my guests.
The common area consists of a restroom (with whirlpool tub), a kitchen (with microwave oven), a dining area and a lounge with a television (netflix), fireplace, piano and sofas and armchairs. There is a second bathroom attached to my room that can be used in case of need.
The wooden floor, the volumes created by the ceiling, the alternating colors on the walls and the large windows overlooking the garden make it warm and scenic, the perfect place to plan your day, check your email, read a book or have a chat over a cup of coffee.
Actually all windows overlook a charming garden and only sounds can be heard are natural ones: it's like living in an oasis in the heart of Rome.
The breakfast is included and special menus can be arranged for those who suffer from food allergies (celiac disease, lactose intolerance, etc..).
Bed linen and towels are included and guests have access to all facilities (broadband Wi-Fi connection, heating, washing machine, whirlpool tub, hairdryer, kitchen) and to a corner in the lounge with tea, coffee and biscuits if they need a snack.
Smoke is admitted only in the common areas.
Tourist tax is not included, for details go to the section rules of the house.
Interaction with Guests
Check in time is flexible. It must be agreed in advance and between 10pm and 8am there is a 10 euros extra to be paid.
I like to welcome my guests personally (it is rare for me asking someone else to do it) and to chat with them at breakfast time, or when they come back home in the evening: these are my favourite moments.
The property is located in a quiet little square near the Sapienza University, the University Hospital (Policlinico) and the National Library Vittorio Emanuele, at walking distance from the university district of San Lorenzo (with a large selection of pizzerias, restaurants, ice cream parlors, fast food, pubs and clubs dedicated to cultural activities for all tastes) and Termini Station with laundries, shops and supermarkets open until late at night.
The property is in a perfect location to visit Rome without renouncing to quiet. A few steps from home, there is a bus stop that allow you to get to the Termini station (310, 649) or to major tourist areas such as the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, St. Peter in Chains and the Monti district (649), the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, St. Peter and Vatican (492). A little further, there is the stop of underground line B (which can take you to the Colosseum and the Circus Maximus in minutes). At the same distance, at Termini station, you can find the Airport shuttle bus and trains (both for Ciampino and Fiumicino), the two Metro lines (A and B), the main bus lines.
Other Things to Note
I love cooking and for a minimum extra fee I can give cooking classes to my guests who want to learn the traditional grandma's recipes (my grandma's, of course :-D)
Tourist tax is not included, for details go to following section about the rules of the house.
At home you are expected to follow the basic rules of a friendly coexistence: a moderate tone of voice, care not to disturb the other guests, care not to leave your DNA in the restroom, smoking is admitted only in the common area. Guests have at their disposal a set of keys to come and go freely. I love to travel and accommodate someone is a bit a way to do it without move from home: every time is an experience that is a mutual enrichment, and I sincerely hope that it continues to be.
Pets are welcome if their owner is able to handle them correctly.

Dora was a wonderful host and gave us many tips on the attractions to visit that were less well known to tourists. She was also very accommodating and even packed breakfast for us when we had to check out early in the morning to catch our train. It was great to stay with Dora!
Wow. I truly cannot say enough good things about Dora and the lovely home that she offers. I spent four weeks living with her and I really really miss her now that I am back home in America! From the very start, Dora made me feel so welcome and comfortable. But what was really special was getting to know her over the 4 weeks we spent together. It can be (for me at least!) stressful, scary, and totally overwhelming to be in a foreign country, but Dora provided such wonderful support and I felt I could go to her with any kind of problem, question, or just curiosity. She really was like a mother to me while I was in Rome and I cannot express how grateful I am for that.
Dora is a FANTASTIC cook, and I will dream about the breakfasts she made for me for the rest of my life. She really cares about making you happy, and I never left her table hungry. In fact I usually left totally stuffed!
Dora's apartment is exactly as described and as the photos show. The room I stayed in had everything you could need for a stay- and I am confident that if there was something you needed that was not already there, Dora would find it for you.
The common area is lovely, and you can always find a nice conversation with Dora, on just about anything. The bathroom is large and the water is hot. I took a few lovely bubble baths while I was there which were fantastic because there are jacuzzi jets!
Her home is in a really great location-- just an 8 minute walk to Termini station, from which you can get to just about anywhere in Rome, or elsewhere, as it is the main station. Very very easy ride to the airport. Her area is totally safe and I never felt uneasy, even late at night.
I absolutely LOVED my stay with Dora. I know that when I return to Rome, she will be my go to host. I can't imagine staying with anyone else. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this for a just a few days but even better for a few weeks, because getting to know Dora was certainly one of the best things about staying with her.
Ok. I am sure even Dora will think I am being excessive in this review! But my time with her was so special and I loved every minute of it. I cannot wait to return.

About the Host, Dora
Home sweet home, as banal as true.
I love to feel at home, and for me home is wherever there is life.
It 's life that I'm looking for: in nature, people, art, books, music, sports, meditation and all the little things of daily living.
That's why, perhaps, I love so much traveling and hosting: it's the best way to share my passion.
