A real gem! We (30 something Australian couple, three mostly delightful children 9, 6, 4 & 70 something grandparents) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Franche Compte & will be encouraging our friends to come to this region too - and we hope to be back before too long. Cynthia & David were wonderful & generous hosts - their home is beautiful, a real treat to stay in, a luxury home away from home. Their artwork covers the walls & was a delight to enjoy. Cynthia was also great to deal with before we arrived - very helpful even when we had a few glitches with the airbnb site. This continued when we arrived - from the generous provisions that Cynthia arranged for us & the homemade cake that the children loved!! As to the house - it is amazing, we felt like chatelaines for the week! Each room has its own bathroom / toilet which was useful as we were also travelling with grandparents & were able to give them some privacy away from grandchildren. Fully equipped kitchen (and wonderful library of recipes ... which I loved trying), games room for the kids, luxurious dining room. If you are after gentle peaceful rural luxury - even with small children who can appreciate & look after their surroundings - this is the place for you!
