I am listing my brand new luxury studio cottage built by Kanga Room Systems. The studio is an open modern design, with bamboo flooring, black granite kitchen counter, new stove, fridge, etc. Full sized bathroom is tiled out with slate, and the Kangaroom design allows for wonderful natural light and a great 6'x14' deck. Bed is a Full sized bed, and the West Elm chez lounge may be used as a sleeper, but I will provide an air mattress or sleeper futon, depending on the needs of the guests. Parking will be on the street. We are 2 blocks to a bus stop, which goes straight downtown, 2 blocks to the MetroRail at Highland station, 5 blocks to Northloop w/ DrinkWell, The Workhorse, Foreign and Domestic, Epoch Coffee, Vegan Nam Tacos, Hog Wild Vintage, Room Service Vintage, The Tigress, etc. etc.
Please, no smoking tobacco, or super loud patio partying. I would love to have cool people that want a comfortable place to sleep, shower, eat, enjoy the patio and weather in the mornings, and party where the music is. My neighbor is a 91 year old original owner, who bought the house in 1953. We are a super cool neighborhood of vintage home and camper lovers, and we take great care of our cottages and gardens. It's sometimes a paradise here, weather and traffic permitting. A respectful quiet roar is always ideal!!! cheers. -Michael
Allstar host! Extremely friendly, accommodating and informative. Michael's place is more charming in person. Michael even gave me access to the simple things in the fridge, like eggs, water, yogurt, condiments etc. The kitchen has everything you need, the studio is clean and comfortable. It really feels like your own. Thank you Michael!
Superb little place to stay. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We met Michael and he was friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. He kept in close contact with us on the day of our arrival and kept in touch with us during our time in the city with local recommendations. He left us some eggs and coffe and milk - a lovely touch - and he made us feel very at home. It's only 20 minutes on the bus to downtown - and there's plenty of on steeet parking if you hire your own car as we did. A quiet pretty neighbourhood with friendly neighbours. All in all a great place to stay in Austin. Our first Air BnB experience and we'll be using it again!
Such a great stay. Our hosts were extremely kind and helpful. Highly recommend.
Michael's studio was a really nice place and we had a great time staying there. It was very clean with everything you would need in the kitchen to cook and prepare meals.
The location is also very good - 10 minute walk to 3/4 bars and restaurants, 10 minute drive to 6th and Rainey streets and also there is a bus stop across the road that is only 20 minutes into downtown if you don't want to drive.
Thanks very much Michael!
Great place! Had a stove, fridge with a freezer, and a porch with rocking chairs. Stocked with fresh towels, sheets, and soap. The studio is set up with a guitar, speakers and TV with Chromecast. We plan on staying here again.
My girlfriend and I stumbled across this listing two days before we were due to leave on vacation (other plans fell through). Michael responded to our request within minutes and was extremely communicative throughout the entire process. Although we did not get to meet him in person, his cottage was beautiful, fantastic, and perfect! For its size, it has all the amenities you could possibly need. Austin is always a blast but his place definitely made this visit more special. I agree, keep Austin weird! We can't wait to visit again.
We put the request in to Michael to stay at his cottage about a month in advance; he accepted immediately, and everything went as planned! He was so easy to communicate with the entire time, also very flexible & accommodating! The cottage itself is nestled in the back of a property, and felt like our own private, little piece of land while we were there. It has beautiful upgrades, from the sleek wooden walls and ceiling to the tiled shower, and even those nifty slow-closing drawers & cabinets! Nice combination of modern & cozy! Also, fast wi-fi included. :) 5 stars!

I am a true Austinite, born and raised.....very rare in this town. I love traveling, outdoor recreation, and original music. I've been renting my home to travelers, and festival goers for years in Austin, but only now through Airbnb, whose service I am very impressed with. My most recent journey was to Australia and Tasmania.....beautiful land, and wonderful people.
Feel free to contact me for any questions about the cottage or Austin. Having lived here for over 30 years, I am a fairly informative virtual tour guide.
