Welcome to our reunion house. We grew up here and keep the house so we can meet up in San Luis Obispo with our families and friends. We love our hometown and the whole Central Coast. We think you'll agree with us that this is a fabulous house and a great area for a vacation with extended family or friends.
The house has five good sized bedrooms with beds and bedding for 10, plus folding mattresses and air beds for more. There is a well equipped kitchen which opens to a spacious family and dining room with room for a crowd. Just outside is a large, lovely private patio lushly planted by our mother. Summer nights in San Luis Obispo are usually great for barbecuing and sitting outside. Maybe your kids will enjoy evenings running around the front yard or playing Frisbee in the empty street like we did growing up. The house was built in the 1940s by a cooperative group of Cal Poly professors, then remodeled in the 1970s. We've kept some of the 1970s vintage decor as a campy tribute to the era of our childhoods.
Located adjacent to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, it's easy to get to all of San Luis Obispo county's attractions. The Cal Poly campus itself, quieter in the summer, is fun to explore. Climb to the P on the hill above the campus for wonderful views or stroll around the agricultural area and maybe see baby pigs. San Luis Obispo's historic downtown, full of great restaurants and shops, is a mile away and features the Thursday Night Downtown Farmers Market, great for SLO's famous ribs, music and people watching in a beautiful setting. On summer Fridays, there are often free concerts in Mission Plaza.
All of the area's great beaches are easy to get to, usually in 15 minutes or less. Our favorite, Avila Beach, is a 12 minute drive or an 11 mile bike ride. (John is an avid biker and can give you info on riding in the area.) Morro Bay is good for the usual sights and yummy fish, but also great kayaking and bird and otter watching. Paso Robles and Edna Valley wine regions are within a half hour drive. San Luis Obispo county is great for so many adventures. Take a look at some of the books we have in the house for hikes, local attractions, and things to do with kids.
Or just stay in! The house doesn't have TVs or cable but there is a collection of family games plus wi-fi and high speed internet access. There's a supermarket a few blocks away.
Guests have access to the entire house, yard and driveways.
We won't be there when you're at the house. You'll have the whole place to yourselves.
We had a terrific time staying at this reunion house in SLO. The living quarters were very comfortable and well-stocked, and the location was great. We were traveling with two toddlers who loved tooling around the house and the yard and enjoyed visiting parks and beaches a short drive away. We hope to visit again some time!
My family and I had a nice stay in Pam's house. The house is so quiet and has anything that would be necessary for my stay. My daughter and her cousin were very happy to find that there are many toys in the children's room and they had a happy time playing in the children's room. I only had a very short stay in this house but I would recommend others to have a stay in this house and if possible, I would hope to stay for a longer time!
A group of about 10 of us needed to find a place in SLO as we were attending a wedding in Santa Margarita. I found Pam's place and it seemed perfect - plenty of rooms/beds for us, with a very large living room in case extra people needed to crash after the big day (they did!)
Pam was a pleasure to work with leading up to the weekend. Very nice, understanding, with great communication, greatly appreciated that!
The house itself was great - comfy beds with plenty of spare sheets, blankets and pillows. Plus the kitchen is basically full-stocked. I planned to make blueberry muffins the first morning (brought all of the ingredients, just in case) and was very pleased to find a stand mixer, plenty of pans, and all of the other items I needed. This also helped greatly when the need came up to bake a cake for a friend that day as well!
The house fit the 10+ of us very comfortably, although 10 people trying to get ready for a wedding in a house with only 2 bathrooms was a little interesting. But wasn't really a big deal at all and there was plenty of hot water! And us girls didn't burn a fuse Wahoo!
Not sure if we'll ever need a big house in SLO again, but I hope i do as it would be awesome to stay here again!
Thanks so much Pam!
Such a great house! My friends and I stayed here for a weekend for our friends wedding, and it was perfect in accommodation and location. Pam was also a pleasure to correspond with. I definitely recommend for large parties or big families!! :)
Things we liked: close to college where we could walk and run; very spacious; comfortable outdoor sitting area; plenty of basic supplies, condiments, etc; wifi was easy to access and worked well; travel to town was very easy; guidebooks were helpful.
Things we didn't like: the main room is fairly dark with not enough lighting; the wine glasses were small and cheap; the beds were pretty small for queen size so we pushed the singles together to make king size beds; the small frying pan needs to be seasoned or replaced; no recycling bin inside the house.
Pam's reunion house in SLO was perfect for our group of 13. Everyone was really impressed with how comfortable & clean it was and we had a great time just hanging out. 5 stars for sure.
