Beautiful Sydney CBD Home! (1)

House - Private room · Young Street, Redfern, NSW 2016, Australia

The Space

This private room is situated in a grand 4 bedroom terrace house and is in the perfect central location, whether you are in town for a wedding, work or visiting our beautiful city as an overseas traveller. Cosier, more relaxed & friendlier than a hotel room, we welcome all responsible traveller(s). We love meeting interesting people on their journeys through Sydney.

Our home is nestled in between Surry Hills & East Redfern, just minutes from the Sydney's CBD and many tourist attractions. The Redfern area, having undergone major change & gentrified over the last 10 years, is well known for it's creative & funky atmosphere, café culture and great restaurants, beautiful boutiques, bookstores, galeries and fresh produce markets.

Very comfortable and easy to live in with parquetry floors, large livings areas and sunlit, modern kitchen. There are 2 large separate living areas, both with gas fireplaces.

The bathroom and 3 bedrooms are on the first floor. The room for rent is furnished with a single bed, desk, clothes rack, cupboard and bedside table. It looks out over the back garden and is a bright, sunny room.

There is a separate toilet with wash basin downstairs.

Fully furnished, your bed will always be made up with fresh, crisp linen and towels. Heaters, fans, extra blankets also supplied - whatever is needed to make your stay as 'home away from home' as possible!

Scrumptious breakfast is included (self-serve) : Selection of cereals, eggs, organic yoghurt, toast & jams etc. herbal and blended teas, fair trade fresh-roasted coffee or hot chocolate!!

Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, blender, juicer, microwave, washer, and all modern appliances.

The front living room is equipped with plasma TV/DVD.

Wireless internet throughout. Please ask for code on arrival.

The leafy back garden has a gas BBQ and outdoor table setting for 6.

We are very close to many golf courses, beaches (& diving!), open-air 50m swimming pools and the beautiful Centennial Parklands are at our doorstep.

Besides being walking distance from Sydney's city centre, Opera House & Harbour and beautiful inner suburbs, the great benefit of our place is the proximity to bus, train and air transport so you can easily explore fabulous Sydney & beaches, the outer regions or even interstate.

  • Awesome host and made my first time experience of Airbnb a pleasure.
Location is perfect for city and fringe suburbs, a home away from home.
Stayed 2 nights and would do it again anytime if in Sydney.

Just a small note though for anybody over 6 feet the bed is a tad small:))

    Else all good:))

  • Abi & India are two wonderful hosts. They welcomed me into their home and made me feel very comfortable. The location & house was perfect, so close to Surry Hills. Lots of trendy bars and restaurants nearby. This was my first time using airbnb and I wasn't disappointed

  • Abi is a very attentive host who has a comfortable and welcoming home. Her house is close to the city centre and she provides a relaxed and impressive environment. After an exhausting day sight seeing Abi's home is just right for sitting around chatting and enjoying a quiet beverage with other guests.

  • I stayed a few days at Abi's place upon arriving in Sydney! Her place was very welcoming, clean and she has a great style. Her place is in a wonderful location great for exploring and discovering many charming neighbourhoods as well as so close to central station and many buses. I would definitely recommend staying at Abi's. I unfortunately didn't get the chance to meet Abi personally as she was out of the country when I arrived however she was soo helpful and easy to communicate regardless. I had the pleasure of meeting her mother and amazing daughter India, who were also very helpful and so nice to talk to. Her place really is a gem.

  • Abi's place was a fantastic place to stay. Her daughter, India, welcomed me and made me feel at home. The house itself is spacious and charming, and the location is the best. It's easily accessible to downtown by public transportation, and even close enough to have a nice long stroll. It's conveniently located with plenty of shops, cafes, and great restaurants around and not far from the airport as well. I didn't spend a lot of time in Sydney, but the next time I visit Sydney, I will most definitely stay with Abi. My only "complaint" or regret is that I didn't get to meet Abi in person as she was traveling :(. I highly recommend her place!

  • Lovely location, lovely home, lovely terrace, lovely room, lovely Abi, lovely India, lovely cats (Many & Diego) and the whole within a French touch atmosphere. Definitely a place to visit and to be. Thanks for everything.

  • This was my first AirBnB experience so I wasn't sure what to expect. Before I had even arrived Abi had contacted me to ensure I knew how to get there. It was very easy to get to from the airport. As soon as I arrived I felt at home; Abi is a well-educated and extremely interesting host - if she's around be sure to chat with her! She had a sincere interest in my travels and helped me on several occasions plan out my day trips.

Her house is fabulous. High ceilings throughout, nice modern furniture and gives that comfortable at-home feel. The room I had stayed in is very simple, not to big, but a massive ceiling makes it feel really cool. The bed is simple and just what I needed. The room is filled with books and maps, you're never short of resources.

During my stay I was given as much privacy as needed. Abi has a respectful sense of when to ask about your trip and when to just leave you be. Abi, her daughter and her two handsome adorable cats were just the best to stay with.

My only regret is not staying longer. If your dates at Abi's haven't been booked yet, take them! You'd be crazy not to.

Thank you, Abi! I hope our paths cross again one day soon!

  • Abi is wonderful and so is her home. When I got there the door was open and the ambiance said come right in!

The place was just like the pictures. Abi was also incredibly communicative and incredibly flexible. Basically dealing with her was entirely stress free, and that was just before I got there!

After I got there I realized text based communication didn't do her justice, she's fascinating and impressively hospitable. Beside speaking 3 languages fluently (maybe more?) and being exceptionally well travelled, she's a wonderful conversationalist. On a night that ended early I thought I would go to bed early but instead wound up in an awesome conversation about international politics for 2 hours.

Also her other room was rented by two interesting young Belgian guys. Basically that made the home feel like a cosmopolitan hostile of sorts.

And while the picture of the room is accurate it doesn't show off that those curtains actually do a great job of darkening what is otherwise a very bright room, which is perfect for sleeping in especially with the early sunshine of Australian summers.

The next time I need a room in Sydney, I won't hesitate to stay again.

  • The experience was as advertised. Beautiful, comfortable home and excellent host, both discreet and attentive. The location in Redfern was quietly residential, yet close to amenities as: the Surry Hills Shopping Village, local transportation, and the cafes, bars and restaurants along trendy Crown Street, all within five minutes walking distance. I chose the host for her clearly progressive views and compatible interests with my own. But I cannot imagine anyone who would not feel comfortable and respected in her home. It made my first visit to Sydney a pleasant one.

My daughter India (18) and I moved back to Sydney from Paris 6 years ago after spending a number of years over there. I worked in the film industry & in events & communications for many years but have since returned to uni full-time studing political science. We absolutely love all that Sydney has to offer but love travelling overseas and discovering new places just as much !! We try and holiday whenever our study and budget permits! At the end of 2012 I travelled to Morocco for 8 weeks to intern with an NGO working to strengthen democratic processes there whilst my daughter volunteered there also on a humanitarian project for 2 weeks before we both explored Egypt for several weeks afterwards. We love animals & recently adopted 2 grey tabby kittens named Diego & Mani. In my spare time from study, I love to read, catch a foreign movie at any number of the arthouse cinemas nearby, ride to the beach or catch up with friends at the local wine bars & cafes. Cooking is an absolute passion, as you know doubt will see if you get to spend time in our house, the kitchen is filled with cookbooks and cooking mags and an assortment of odd appliances to get the creative culinary juices flowing.
