I live on the property in the farmhouse and like to meet guests on their arrival. I want to show you around and give you the keys so be sure to let me know your arrival time - any time after check-in at 2:30PM.
Interaction with Guests
I love to get to know my guests but how much time we share is up to you. I realize that my guests come here for different reasons. Some are here for a specific event and are on a schedule and others are interested in a relaxing stay on a farm. Its different for everyone!
This is country living. I like the quiet and the sound of birds chirping in the morning and sometimes owls and hawks. The neighbors know each other here and drop by to say hi. In the summer its lovely to walk through the orchard. Everything you need is very close by so although its a relaxed and beautiful setting here, you won't feel isolated.
One of the many wonderful ways you know you're in the country...there is no public transit.
Other Things to Note
Russian River is nearby and so is the Pacific Ocean. If you want to go river rafting or to the beach, please bring beach towels with you. My bath towels must stay at the property. Thank you!
There are no pets, no indoor smoking, no use of the couch as a bed and no climbing the apple trees. They have very delicate branches and climbing damages them and breaks off the apple buds. This is an organic farm so I greatly appreciate your respecting the clean, healthy environment and not leaving litter or cigarette butts on the ground. Gran Fondo riders, your bicycles are safe outside. There is no parking of bicycles inside the guest house even if they are more valuable than your vehicle. :) The property is very safe and well off the road. Guests are limited to the amount of people stated in the reservation. If you wish to invite local friends or other visitors while you are here, that is by permission in advance of your arrival only. I live here in the farmhouse and we share the environment. Thank you!
Beautiful, and peaceful location. Victoria did everything to make us feel good. The apartment is very wide and warm. And the sourroundings are calm and relaxing.
Victoria's guest home is lovely, comfortably furnished, and in a dream-like apple orchard...such a visual delight! She greeted us upon arrival and exit, and was helpful whenever we needed something. The guest house is close to some great spots in town for eating and shopping. Walks in nature, too. Finding Airbnb places with space for our adult daughters to stay is rare--such a great place to bring friends along and have an evening in.
Our family of three just had the most relaxing three night stay at Pleasant Hill Farm. Our host was very accommodating to our ever changing arrival time, due to traffic, and has mastered the art of providing both easy contact and privacy, as desired. We left early our last day and apparently dropped one of our own house keys on the way out, and our host called us the next day and is mailing it to us.
The guest house was just as described, two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen/eating area and a nice sitting room with big TV. The sitting room was our favorite room...all 3 of us ended up curled up in there at the end of day. The farm grounds are lovely, with over 400 apple trees, and a small vineyard. We were there just after apple season, and can only imagine how it might have looked when the orchard was full.
The property is less than 10 minutes from downtown Sebastopol (and a Starbucks for those who prefer their coffee made by someone else when on vacation).
All in all, a well-run, clean, convenient and charming retreat.
Pleasant Hill Farm is adorable, as is the host, Victoria. The two bedroom guesthouse has all the amenities one needs for a short or not so short stay. It was very pleasant and comfortable, and I will definitely come back to stay again.......preferably when the weather warms up.
The reservation was canceled 22 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Victoria was a great host - she met our friends when they arrived (earlier than us), and met me the morning we left, and was accommodating about letting us stay an extra hour when we were having a slow morning. The place is very cozy and well-decorated, with a nice kitchen. We were invited to stroll around the beautiful orchard on the property. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again when we're in the area.
About the Host, Victoria
Pleasant Hill Farm is a new endeavor for me but an old farm in this area. I've moved here in 2011 and this city girl is learning about farming apples and a vineyard from some very experienced help! Smart farmers are my new best friends! Besides farming, I'm pursuing other things but love being home on the farm and sharing it with my family, new and old friends, and neighbors who often drop in or come to stay a while. Waking up to birds chirping and walking outside in the morning sunshine to check on the apples (by taking a bite) is a pretty nice life!
Charles Schultz's grave is here with Snoopy, Lucy, Peanuts, and Linus. Its a five minute walk from the guest house.
A little history on Luther Burbank.. just down the road.
This local market is close by and has a great selection of deli meats and a interesting selection of imported gourmet items.
Close by. Good food. You can sit outside too.
Wonderful food, a full bar and music on weekends.
Nice local French restaurant. Fun for a special lunch. Its on the pricey side. The deserts are great!
Super delicious healthy food, affordable, casual and you can sit inside or out.
Our local Whole Foods is in downtown Sebastopol, just about five minutes from the farm.
This is another local market that is just wonderful. It has a very good deli and outdoor barbecue.
Great antique shopping! Just down the hill from the farm.
This is about the best fresh produce market you'll find anywhere.
This is a lovely town and after you are there, eat at one of the great old Italian restaurants.
This is where Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" was filmed. Its about 20 minutes from the farm.
Go here to buy fresh crab just pulled out of the water. Lots of fun stores, kites, salt water taffy and good restaurants. Its also a beautiful drive getting there! About half an hour from the farm.
