Pleasant Hill Farm is a relaxed country retreat on one of Sebastopol's historic apple farms. The updated guest house sits on a five acre farm with views of vineyards on adjacent hills. The town and surrounding areas are close-by and accessible.
Pleasant Hill Farm offers a fully furnished, charming and cozy (715 sq ft.) two bedroom, one bath guest house which sleeps four. For an additional fee of $50.00 per person per night, up to two extra guests can be accommodated in an extra bedroom in the water tower which has a double bed. The water tower is just a few steps from the guest house and shares the guest house bathroom, kitchen and all amenities. The guest house kitchen has a dining table which seats four, or you can eat outdoors at either of two long tables made of oak and redwood trees which are overlooking the orchard just below the guest house and barn. The guest house faces the recently renovated farm house (originally built in 1900), the vineyard, carriage house and water tower. There is a comfortable sitting room with a luxurious couch (not for use as a bed), an over-sized chair with ottoman, flat screen TV, desk with wireless internet and an ergonomic chair. The guest house is comfortably and tastefully furnished. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, and everything you need to prepare food, serve and dine. ** Please note there is no dishwasher or laundry. Dishes are be done by hand and there is a laundromat minutes away on Pleasant Hill Road. The guest house is supplied with paper products adequate for several days but guests are responsible for re-supply during their stay as there is no maid service. Pleasant Hill Farm is a working farm so depending on the time of year, the orchard could be quiet or there may be considerable orchard and vineyard activity. Check out the Sonoma County Tourism Bureau and (website hidden) Sebastopol tourism and/or events for local events and information.
I like to meet guests on their arrival to show them around and give them the keys so let me know your arrival time - any time after check-in at 2:30PM.
Interaction with Guests
I love to get to know my guests but how much time we share is up to you. I realize that my guests come here for different reasons. Some are here for a specific event and are on a schedule and others are interested in a relaxing stay on a farm. Its different for everyone!
This is country living. I like the quiet and the sound of birds chirping in the morning and sometimes owls and hawks. The neighbors know each other here and drop by to say hi. In the summer its lovely to walk through the orchard. Everything you need is very close by so although its a relaxed and beautiful setting here, you won't feel isolated.
One of the many wonderful ways you know you're in the country...there is no public transit.
Other Things to Note
Russian River is nearby and so is the Pacific Ocean. If you want to go river rafting or to the beach, please bring beach towels with you. My bath towels must stay at the property. Thank you!
There are no pets and no indoor smoking. This is an organic farm so I appreciate your respecting the clean, healthy environment and not leaving litter or cigarette butts on the ground. There is no parking of bicycles inside the guest house. The property is very safe and off the road. Guests are limited to the amount stated in the reservation. If you wish to invite local friends or other visitors while you are here, that is by permission in advance of your arrival only. Thank you!
Victoria's guest home is lovely, comfortably furnished, and in a dream-like apple orchard...such a visual delight! She greeted us upon arrival and exit, and was helpful whenever we needed something. The guest house is close to some great spots in town for eating and shopping. Walks in nature, too. Finding Airbnb places with space for our adult daughters to stay is rare--such a great place to bring friends along and have an evening in.
Our family of three just had the most relaxing three night stay at Pleasant Hill Farm. Our host was very accommodating to our ever changing arrival time, due to traffic, and has mastered the art of providing both easy contact and privacy, as desired. We left early our last day and apparently dropped one of our own house keys on the way out, and our host called us the next day and is mailing it to us.
The guest house was just as described, two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen/eating area and a nice sitting room with big TV. The sitting room was our favorite room...all 3 of us ended up curled up in there at the end of day. The farm grounds are lovely, with over 400 apple trees, and a small vineyard. We were there just after apple season, and can only imagine how it might have looked when the orchard was full.
The property is less than 10 minutes from downtown Sebastopol (and a Starbucks for those who prefer their coffee made by someone else when on vacation).
All in all, a well-run, clean, convenient and charming retreat.
Pleasant Hill Farm is adorable, as is the host, Victoria. The two bedroom guesthouse has all the amenities one needs for a short or not so short stay. It was very pleasant and comfortable, and I will definitely come back to stay again.......preferably when the weather warms up.
Vici called us when we were on our way to her house, gave us very clear directions and a warm welcome explaining the property. She left a bottle of wine in the fridge and fresh-picked apples on the counter. Everything was lovely!
The reservation was canceled 22 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Victoria was a great host - she met our friends when they arrived (earlier than us), and met me the morning we left, and was accommodating about letting us stay an extra hour when we were having a slow morning. The place is very cozy and well-decorated, with a nice kitchen. We were invited to stroll around the beautiful orchard on the property. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again when we're in the area.
Victoria was welcoming and the personal touches were greatly appreciated. The apple orchard was very peaceful and a great place to relax and enjoy a slower pace of life.
Pleasant Hill Farm is a new endeavor for me but an old farm in this area. I've moved here in 2011 and this city girl is learning about farming apples and a vineyard from some very experienced help! Smart farmers are my new best friends! Besides farming, I'm pursuing other things but love being home on the farm and sharing it with my family, new and old friends, and neighbors who often drop in or come to stay a while. Waking up to birds chirping and walking outside in the morning sunshine to check on the apples (by taking a bite) is a pretty nice life!
