About this listing
Pleasant Hill Farm is a relaxed country retreat on one of Sebastopol's historic apple farms. The updated guest house sits on a five acre farm with views of vineyards on adjacent hills. The town and surrounding areas are close-by and accessible.
Pleasant Hill Farm offers a fully furnished, charming and cozy (715 sq ft.) two bedroom, one bath guest house which sleeps a maximum of four people in two twin beds and one queen bed. (There is no use of the couch or floor as a bed.) For an additional fee of $50.00 per person per night, up to two extra guests can be accommodated in the water tower bedroom which has a double bed which is the fourth bed. The water tower bedroom is just a few steps from the guest house and shares the guest house bathroom, kitchen and all amenities. The guest house kitchen has a dining table which seats four, or you can eat outdoors on very rustic long tables made of oak and redwood trees which are overlooking the orchard just below the guest house and barn. The guest house looks toward the recently renovated farm house (originally built in 1900), the vineyard, carriage house /garage, and water tower. There is a comfortable sitting room with a luxurious couch (not a bed), an over-sized chair with ottoman, flat screen TV, and desk with wireless internet. The guest house is comfortably furnished in a country style. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, and everything you need to prepare food, serve and dine. Please note there is no dishwasher or laundry. Dishes are done by hand. There is a laundromat less than five minutes away on Pleasant Hill Road. The guest house is supplied with paper products adequate for a short stay but guests are responsible for re-supply during their stay as needed. Maid service is not provided. Pleasant Hill Farm is a working farm so depending on the time of year, the orchard could be quiet or there could be considerable orchard and vineyard activity. Check out the Sonoma County Tourism Bureau and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Sebastopol tourism and/or events for local events and information. I also provide a guest binder which lists many things to do in the local area.
I live on the property in the farmhouse and like to meet guests on their arrival. I want to show you around and give you the keys so be sure to let me know your arrival time - any time after check-in at 2:30PM. You are welcome to walk through the orchard, use the outside tables below the barn and in the orchard and enjoy the entire property below the driveway.
Interaction with Guests
I love to get to know my guests but how much time we share is up to you. I realize that my guests come here for different reasons. Some are here for a specific event and are on a schedule and others are interested in getting to know everything about running an apple farm. If you would like to hear about it, please let me know!
This is country living. I like the quiet and the sound of birds chirping in the morning, the sound of owls and hawks and sometimes, ospreys. The neighbors know each other here and drop by to say hi. In the summer its lovely to walk through the orchard. Everything you need is very close by so although its a relaxed and beautiful setting here, you won't feel isolated. There are some great restaurants close by and several grocery stores within a five minute drive as well as laundromats and ice cream stores.
One of the many wonderful ways you know you're in the country...there is no public transit. The property is about two 1/2 miles from town.
Other Things to Note
Russian River is nearby and so is the Pacific Ocean. If you want to go river rafting or to the beach, please bring beach towels with you. My bath towels must stay at the property. There is a marine layer which comes in at night since the property isn't far from the ocean so be sure to bring a light jacket or sweatshirt even in the summer. Thank you!
There are no pets (no exceptions) , no parking of bicycles inside the house (no exceptions) and no use of the couch or floors as a bed (no exceptions). Please be sure that the maximum number of guests and the sleeping accommodations as stated work for your party before you book. If you are not OK with leaving your bikes outside, I do understand but please find other accommodations. Also, if you wish to have any visitors when you're here that is normally fine with me as long as we've discussed it in advance. Spontaneous guests are not allowed. This is an organic farm and my home so I greatly appreciate your respecting the clean, healthy environment. If you do take advantage of the beautiful outside fire pit area and tables, please clean up after yourselves and don't leave litter or dirty ash trays. Thank you!
