Our classic studio has a true San Francisco feeling. It's located in the heart of one of the most iconic neighborhoods in the city, just steps from tourist attractions, top restaurants, and shopping.

The Space

Gorgeous North Beach, San Francisco studio apartment for short-term rent. It is located on a small street just two blocks from Coit Tower, bus stops, restaurants, bars, and parks. Needless to say, it is exceptionally well located!

The street is quiet and the studio is well furnished with clean linens and towels. It is one big room plus a full bathroom (with tub and shower). There is a small, well-stocked kitchenette including a 4 burner stove top, oven, fridge, and sink. In one corner is a wood burning stove/fireplace. A washer and dryer are located in the garage under the studio.

All linens are provided and will be clean. The studio will be cleaned between guests by a professional cleaner so it will be fresh and nice for you when you arrive.

Our neighborhood, North Beach, is a major destination. It is vibrant and fun with tons of restaurants, cafes, shops and night life. There are parks, playgrounds and sights such as the Filbert Steps and Coit Tower just 2 blocks from the apartment. You can easily walk downtown or to Chinatown in just minutes.

Major bus lines and trolley cars run constantly and are located within two blocks (three for the trolley cars) of the apartment.

This property is unique because it is so well located and yet it's on a quiet residential street. We know you will love it!!

Guest Access

Guests have access tot he studio and can also eat or spend time in the central garden area.

Interaction with Guests

Guests are very independent. You can arrive and leave as you wish. I often don't meet guests as our schedules are different, but when I do I am always pleased as every guest has been great! I am also always available to help if guests have questions or needs help.

Getting around

It is very convenient to multiple bus and trolly lines. Taxis are easy to find.

Other Things to Note

Some local places for great eating include: The House (Asian Fusion v. good! small place so definitely make a res), The Square (a bit pricey, but well executed California style food part of a high-end, restaurant group), Cotogna (Italian .. need a res, but can only do it two weeks in advance). Breakfast at Mamas (it's touristy and you have to wait in line, but it's worth it!), pizza at Tony's Pizza (the best in SF), and tacos at Don Pistos are amazing. Elephant Sushi up Russian Hill is good and fun and filled with locals. Cafe Divine is a great back up … not quite as exceptional, but good and great for people watching.

  • Ruth's place was WONDERFUL. The studio apartment was exactly as pictured, and the bed and linens were extra comfortable. Ruth herself (though we only met her for a couple minutes) was friendly and thoughtful. She lives in the main house on the same property and made herself available should we have any issues while staying in the apartment. Otherwise we had total privacy.

We found Ruth's apartment to be a perfect base from which to see the overall city. The apartment is well-located near Coit Tower and within walking distance of MANY great restaurants in the North Beach/Telegraph Hill part of San Francisco. Several bus stops are within a 3-4 minute walk of the apartment, making it easy to get around the city, though you can easily walk to the tourist-friendly Fisherman's Wharf.

There were some convenient extras at Ruth's place, including a small kitchenette with basic pots/pans and tableware, so you can easily cook a meal there. There was also cable TV for relaxing after long days out in the city.

I highly recommend Ruth's place. It was a lovely stay for us.

    Response from Ruth:

Thank you so much for this information. I really appreciate it especially since I often don't get into the studio between guests when we are busy (only my housekeeper does). I will address all these issues this week. THanks so much and it was great having you stay!!

  • The studio was great. It was in a perfect location, walking distance to a lot of fun places. The place was very clean and comfortable. Ruth was very nice and gave us a couple suggestions for places to eat in the area. We really enjoyed our trip!

  • We had a great stay that was especially fun as we were in town for a wedding. We love the location and the ease of use of this little spot and Ruth was sweet. We love her style....BBQ going and wine with a friend and dogs!

We plan to return in late October to welcome the newest grandchild! It's all good.

  • I would recommend Ruth's Studio Apt to anyone! She has a great location and is a fantastic host! We enjoyed every minute of our experience, and would stay at this location again if we were to go back to San Francisco!

  • We had a marvelous time in San Francisco celebrating our 25th Anniversary. Ruth was a wonderful host. She had the perfect balance of being there if we needed her and allowing us to have our private space. Absolutely no problems with check in. Ruth even allowed us to drop our bags off early so we could begin our exploring without having to carry our luggage all over the city!
The place looked just like the posted pictures. Very quaint and perfect for our week stay. The kitchen was very tiny but worked for us (we only did breakfast in the space). No microwave. Everything there you would need for cooking a meal if you wanted to. We purchased a few items at local market (coffee, TP, milk, fruit...) and were set for week.
The neighborhood was clean and, for the most part, quiet. We heard the neighbors a few times in the evenings but nothing that bothered us. The studio is located in the Telegraph Hill area and, therefore, you do have to climb to get to the space. We had no problem doing so but if you have health issue it may be difficult.
The shared courtyard area was lovely. On a couple occasions we purchased "to go" food and brought back and had a candlelight supper. We had to use the outdoor heaters that Ruth provided because it was a little chilly.
We met Ruth's dogs on several occasions and they were very friendly and adorable (albeit slightly noisy and rambunctious before they got their walks).
Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend Ruth's space.

    Response from Ruth:

Thanks .. great idea. I rarely go in there but just got the chance and totally understand. And yes, coffee would be a great touch. Housekeeper should have left extra TP. I will remind her. I really appreciate your comments.

  • I really liked staying here - it's a great space and in a really great area that I otherwise probably wouldn't have experienced if I stayed in a hotel. There are great restaurants within steps of the apartment, a park right down the street and even some great little stores throughout the neighborhood. The apartment was super clean and nice. I really enjoyed my stay here!

  • Our host Ruth was great, extremely friendly and offered some great tips on local places to eat.

The apartment was in a great location within North Beach just below Coit Tower. It was a lovely walk down to the wharfs or towards Union Square. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • I can't say enough about our stay with Ruth. The location in little Italy is the perfect place to see some of the best tourist spots (fishermans wharf, coit tower, Alcatraz, Chinatown) as well as be a part of the locals with all the great restaurants and coffee spots. Room was amazing and exactly as described-clean, cozy and comfortable. Communication with Ruth was always prompt and we had our privacy. Highly recommend and we'd definitely stay again.

  • Ruth's apartment is super nice and conveniently located to the Washington Square shops and restaurants. She has done a nice job decorating it, and it was squeaky clean. Ruth is also extremely nice & accommodating. The location is quiet, so we slept great. We will definitely book with Ruth again.

  • We recently spent 4 nights at Ruth's place which proved a good base for us to explore San Francisco. We received a warm welcome on arrival, Ruth was easy to connect and communicate with. The studio is in a lovely location, with a number of bars and restaurants we enjoyed going to. The studio was very clean and had everything we required. We did not spend a lot of time at our base, however when we did it was quite comfortable.

About
I am from San Francisco. I love to ski, do yoga and hang out with friends to hear live music. I am a single mom of a great 7 year old boy and have two cute French Bulldogs. I work as a therapist and a sometimes yoga instructor. As a host I love to help my guests find unique SF finds and can guide them to restaurants, museums, or beautiful walks through the city. Our studio is separate from our house so guests are very independent. Sometimes I don't even see them even though we are just across the courtyard. I love to travel and am especially partial to snow and water -- I don't like to sit still (love having a sport or adventure to guide the way). Throw in some culture and great food and I am in heaven. I generally stay in hotels or special Airbnb spots. I am easy to get along with and am respectful of people's views and their space. I love and appreciate beautiful places, but above all aim for safety, cleanliness, and an overall good vibe in the places I stay.
