Welcome to New Orleans ~ America's most unique city!

We've been Airbnb hosts since 2009. We've accepted more than 250 reservations totaling more than 900 nights. We've had the pleasure of sharing our home with more than 400 guests from 27 countries including the United States. We've made hundreds of loaves of morning blueberry bread and, we've gone thru countless pounds of coffee. But the best reward for being a part of the Airbnb community is that we've made hundreds of friends from all across the globe!

We're sure you'll find our Historic New Orleans Storefront an affordable and memorable way to visit and enjoy our amazing city.

OUR SPACE: Our home is a New Orleans storefront building with living quarters above built around 1885. Like many storefront buildings we are located on a corner. Over the years the building has been home to a number of businesses; an attorney's office, a beauty salon and at least two bars. We're an easy walk to the French Quarter and many other local attractions.

In the mid 1980's the building was renovated into two apartments. Thirteen years ago we purchased the building and now use the entire building as our home. Our home is bright, colorful and full of local folk art and outsider art. The majority of our daily living (bedroom, bathroom and den) is on the second floor but, we use the 1st floor kitchen as our main kitchen and what was the original store now serves as our living room. Beyond the kitchen, at the end of a short hall, is a nice guest room (your room) with a very comfortable queen size bed, TV and wifi connection for you to connect to the internet with your laptop. A large private full bathroom is also located off the hall before, as is access to our garden patio. In the morning we provide light breakfast fare for our guests to enjoy in the kitchen.

Please note: On Street Parking Only (like most of New Orleans neighborhoods).

THE NEIGHBORHOOD~TREME' Treme' is the 3rd oldest neighborhood in New Orleans and is located directly behind (away from the Mississippi River) the French Quarter. We are three blocks from Esplanade Ave. and ten blocks from both the French Quarter and Canal Street, along which runs the historic Canal Streetcar line making easy access to Uptown, the Universities, Magazine St., the New Orleans Zoo and much more. We are within walking distance of Jackson Square which is considered the heart of the French Quarter where you will also find the world famous Cafe du Monde and the historic St. Louis Cathedral. From the house to the edge of French Quarter is about a 10-12 minute walk. We are >5 minute drive to the New Orleans Museum of Art, City Park and the Fairgrounds. We are exceptionally well located for activities in the Treme', French Quarter, Faubourg Marigny, Esplanade Ridge and the Central Business District neighborhoods. We're a 20 minute walk from the Mercedes Benz Superdome home the New Orleans Saints football team and the New Orleans Arena, home of the Hornets basketball team.

Treme' is home to jazz, The Treme Brass Band, Mardi Gras Indians, Second Lines and a few wonderful, mouthwatering neighborhood African American soul food restaurants like Lil Dizzy's, Dookey Chase and Willie Mae's (winner of the James Beard Award for best fried chicken in the South). Jazz musician Kermit Ruffins has recently opened a new jazz club just a few blocks from the house. Several of the cities biggest festivals are within easy walking distance too: Mardi Gras, French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest, Southern Decadence (like a gay, lgbt Mardi Gras), Halloween, Voodoo Fest...

HBO's Treme' was largely filmed in the neighborhood. Currently, American Horror Story is filming season 3 in and around the Treme and the French Quarter.

  • New Orleans is a beautiful, exciting and vibrant city and Michael and David's house reflects this energy and hospitality. The house is located in one of the city's most dynamic neighbourhoods, Treme. The house itself is gorgeous and immaculate. We really felt like we had stumbled upon a little piece of paradise after our very long road trip.

Their recommendations for places to eat in the area were inspired, and we had what could only be called a feast at a local cafe.

The house is in easy walking distance to the French Quarter, and an inexpensive taxi ride back after dark. Michael and David were warm, welcoming hosts and we would absolutely recommend their house as a wonderful place to stay in New Orleans. We could not have asked for more, and would be delighted to go back!

  • We chose David and Michael’s because of the wall-to-wall art. Their collection of “outsider” art is amazing. Also, we enjoyed both David and Michael. They were helpful in sharing their expertise about N.O… where to eat, what to see and how to get there. Their home is centrally located and the neighborhood (Treme) was interesting and safe. We highly recommend both hosts and their extraordinary accommodations.

  • I highly recommend staying with David and Michael in New Orleans. My boyfriend and I recently had the pleasure of staying in their beautiful, art filled home. Although I didn't get to meet Michael until our very last day, both he and David were warm and friendly people with the utmost hospitality. We practically had the whole first floor to ourselves so it felt like a home away from home. David was very informative about the ins and out of the neighborhood and let us know of several places to check out that were outside of the French Quarter norm. They've lived in the neighborhood for years and the pride they have in NOLA shows.
The delicious blueberry bread was quite a treat in the morning, and there was plenty of coffee and juice to have with it as well.
I only wish I had more time to spend in NOLA but hope to stay at Michael and David's on our next trip back! What a great first Air BnB experience! :)

  • My wife and I were in NOLA for a friend's wedding, and we had the wonderful opportunity to stay at Michael and David's place. I couldn't recommend these guys enough. They were very friendly, very courteous, and incredibly helpful. Their house is absolutely amazing. The decor is very unique, and overall the experience was a great alternative to being in some boring hotel. It was located quite close to the French quarter. Thanks again guys!

  • I definitely recommend staying in New Orleans with Michael and David. They are warm and enthusiastic people who made us feel at home immediately. Their home is beautifully historic, with fabulous art covering every surface - you can always find something interesting to look at. It was nice to stay just outside the quarter - in Treme, a neighborhood I otherwise might not have visited. Michael and David have mastered the art of hosting - they gave us enough space while regularly providing recommendations of places to eat and see live music. Thanks again! We'll be back.

  • Michael and David's gorgeous, art-filled apartment far exceeded our expectations. The art was vivd and expressive, and the overall effect was palpably serene. David is a gregarious and informative host, and Michael is charming. They've lived in the neighborhood for 15 years, so they've seen it evolve. We've been bit by the NOLA bug and hope to return many times.

  • Great place to stay, with lots of privacy and really comfortable room. Super hosts, and would highly recommend. Neighborhood was not so picturesque, but very convenient for what we wanted to do.

  • David and Michael could not have been more accommodating. They were very friendly and offered several suggestions w/r/t restaurants, places to check out, etc. This residence is located right in the heart of New Orleans. It is within walking distance or at least a very easy driving distance from all of the areas of New Orleans out of towners would probably have an interest in seeing. The house is immaculate and spacious. It is very easy to feel comfortable and relaxed here. We will definitely come back here if they are willing to have us. I simply can't recommend them more. Thanks again Dave and Michael!

  • The pleasure was all ours. Michael and David are the perfect combination of professionalism and friendliness. They keep a very warm and welcoming home and have both the attitude and the energy that reflect it. We would be honoured to be welcomed as guests again.

Michael is a native New Orleanian and David is a transplanted New Englander. We're fun loving, easy going and progressive. We love art, traveling, good food and meeting great people. We enjoy everything New Orleans has to offer; Mardi Gras, French Quarter Fest, Southern Decadence (like a gay mardi gras), Secondlines, Mardi Gras Indians (we tell you more about this when you get here!)... The food and music are second to none. The local culture is rich, vibrant and unlike anything you'll find anywhere else in the United States. If you're lucky enough to spend a Wednesday night at the Candlelight Lounge with the Treme Brass Band or experience a Thursday afternoon concert with the Friends of Armstrong Park, you'll quickly understand the magic of New Orleans and Treme. To really experience the wonder that is New Orleans you need to step outside of the French Quarter to experience how we really live. We look forward to hearing from you!
