About this listing

Possession of a San Francisco Short-Term Rental Registration Certificate certifies that the registration certificate holder has agreed to comply with the terms of the San Francisco Short-Term Residential Rental Ordinance (San Francisco Administrative Code Section 41A). Welcome to the Mission! Our charming 3 bedroom apartment, Casa Quixote, is located near just about everything there is to do.
This listing is for one primary bedroom and an additional smallish kids room in our 3 bedroom home. You will have access to the entire home, except for our master bedroom. We will not be in the home while you are visiting.
This listing is primarily for two adults, however we have an additional kid's room available with a single bed (and trundle) in case your extra guest(s) doesn't mind sleeping in a room with kids decor. The bed comfortably fits an adult, and another adult in the trundle if you would like to use it, however, please understand it would be a tight fit to have two adults in a small kids room. We list it for 4 people with the idea that families with kids might want to stay at our home. However, if you are 4 adults, and you still want to stay in our place, then please do!
Please note that the TV is now located in the bedroom, but can be moved to living room if you prefer.
If you have dog allergies, please keep in mind that we do have a very charming dog named Lula, however she will not be in the home during your visit. The home is always deep cleaned before and after we welcome any guests.
A little about the house:
The interior of this 106 year old home was restored to it's former glory when we exposed the original woodwork. The rooms are awash in sunlight. One room medium sized. It includes a full queen bed with new mattress, and plenty of storage space in the closet and shelves. There is a cable TV in the living area and high speed WIFI throughout. There is also a smaller kids room. It has one twin bed with a very comfortable mattress. If you need an additional mattress, there is a pull-out trundle bed that can be used if needed.
The main bathroom has the original Clawfoot Bathtub (from 1907!) to soak in and possibly the only bidet in San Francisco. There is an additional small half-bath with a sink and toilet. The kitchen is well stocked if you like to cook on the vintage gas stove. Or lounge on the private deck and have a BBQ. Coffee and tea are provided. This is the downstairs of a corner duplex, and the upstairs neighbors are very cool.
We are committed to providing you a comfortable and enjoyable space from which to explore the neighborhood and the city.
We could go on and on... but we'll let you enjoy the neighborhood on your own. Cheers!
Your bedrooms, common areas in living room and kitchen, bathrooms, the rear deck, the bbq in the patio. Parking in our garage is provided if needed.
Interaction with Guests
If we are available, we would be happy to meet you and give you a walk around the neighborhood.
A little about the Mission:
This is hands-down the best place to be in San Francisco. You will be in the center of it all.
The Mission is one of the culinary Hot Spots of America, and you will be surrounded by innovative restaurants, cafes, and bars that range from the affordable to the posh. Every ethnic cuisine is represented, although Pancho Villa's burrito reigns supreme. Within two blocks are Flour and Water, Central Kitchen, Blue Bottle, Atlas Cafe, Coffee Bar, Charles Chocolates, Salumeria, Universal Cafe, Blowfish Sushi, Trick Dog Bar, Slow Club, Rhea's Deli, American Grilled Cheese, Southern Pacific Brewery. Yelp any of these places and you'll understand why you're in Foodie nirvana. At night you can walk to all the action on Mission and Valencia, or you can explore the cultural and artistic events that abound in the neighorhood. Our #1 thing to do is to have an impromptu picnic at Dolores Park in the late afternoon. There you will find a true cross-section of the Mission.
The 27 Bus picks you up across the street and drops you off downtown (Powell / Union Square) in less than 20 minutes. You can also walk to BART (metro) at 16th or 24th if you want to explore the Bay Area.
If you like to bike, we have two bikes (beater, foldable, and mountain) free of charge for you to bike along the waterfront (or to Golden Gate Park). Please inquire.
Many guests use the Uber or Lyft mobile app to hire a private car around town. Drivers usually arrive in less than 4 minutes.
Aside from our garage. Plenty of free street parking is also available, especially over a holiday week. However, it is easiest to find a spot on weekdays after 4pm and all day weekends. Weekday parking from 8am-4pm requires a bit of circling but a spot usually opens up within a block or two.
Other Things to Note
This is our full time home. It is not a permanent rental.
This is an ideal rental for 2 or 3 people. A fourth person would have to sleep on a pull-out twin size trundle bed which is low to the floor. The leather couch in the living room is large enough for someone to sleep on, but we do not provide bedding for the couch.
The bedroom in the apartment is located on the first floor of a street with medium traffic of people and cars passing by depending on the time of day. You will hear some sound from outside. We've lived here for nine years and it's never been an issue for us. We provide ear plugs if you need them.
Also, we have recently added black-out shades, so you can have a dark sleeping space if you desire.
You may park in our garage if you need to. We have a Nissan Rogue and it fits comfortably. STR-0000365
Please leave the apartment as beautiful as you found it.
No smoking indoors.
Absolutely no parties or loud events. Feel free to have friends over, but please keep it simple and calm.
I am an advocate for youth. I teach modern world history and college access classes at Mission High School by Dolores Park. My wife Martha Maria is a biologist who is wild about marine mammals. Our son Oliver is busy exploring the world of playgrounds, insects, and new shapes and sounds. Amadis is from Berkeley with roots in Argentina and Peru, and Martha Maria is Colombiana all the way. We love wandering through the Mission, learning about the history and watching it change on a daily basis. We are honored to have you as our guest, and we hope you explore the neighborhood to the fullest. Cheers!
