The Space

Welcome to the Mission! Our charming apartment, Casa Quixote, is located near just about everything there is to do.

A little about the house:
The interior of this 106 year old home was restored to it's former glory when we exposed the original woodwork. The rooms are awash in sunlight. The largest room has a queen bed, the medium room a full bed, and the smaller room two single beds. Additionally, the sofa opens up into a full size bed. There is a cable TV and high speed WIFI throughout. The main bathroom has the original Clawfoot Bathtub (from 1907!) to soak in and possibly the only bidet in San Francisco. There is an additional half-bath if things get crowded. The kitchen is well stocked if you like to cook on the vintage gas stove. Feel free to host a dinner before hitting the town. Or lounge on the private deck and have a BBQ. This is the downstairs of a corner duplex, and the upstairs neighbor is very cool.

A little about the Mission:
This is hands-down the best place to be in San Francisco. The Mission is one of the culinary Hot Spots of America, and you will be surrounded by innovative restaurants, cafes, and bars that range from the affordable to the posh. Every ethnic cuisine is represented, although Pancho Villa's burrito reigns supreme. Within three blocks are Flour and Water, Central Kitchen, Blue Bottle, Atlas Cafe, Coffee Bar, Charles Chocolates, Salumeria, Universal Cafe, Blowfish Sushi, Trick Dog Bar, Slow Club, Rhea's Deli, American Grilled Cheese, Southern Pacific Brewery. Yelp any of these places and you'll understand why you're in Foodie nirvana. At night you can walk to all the action on Mission and Valencia, or you can explore the cultural and artistic events that abound in the neighorhood. Our #1 thing to do is to have an impromptu picnic at Dolores Park in the late afternoon. There you will find a true cross-section of the Mission.

***Secure garage parking is available only if you ask for it at the time of your reservation. Our garage is typically small like most garages in San Francisco. For larger cars, it may be a tight fit. We have a Nissan Rogue that fits fine. Plenty of free street parking is also available weekdays after 4pm and all day weekends. Weekday parking from 8am-4pm requires a bit of circling but a spot usually opens up within a block or two.

The 27 Bus picks you up across the street and drops you off downtown (Powell / Union Square) in less than 20 minutes. You can also walk to BART (metro) at 16th or 24th if you want to explore the Bay Area. If you like to bike, we have three bikes (beater, foldable, and mountain) free of charge for you to bike along the waterfront (or to Golden Gate Park).

We could go on and on... but we'll let you enjoy the neighborhood on your own. Cheers!

  • We had a wonderful stay in Amadis' and Martha's really nice apartment. The bedrooms are very good with comfortable beds and enough space (five in the family). The kitchen is well equipped. The bathroom clean and modern. The whole place is decorated nicely and has a lot charm.

The checking in and out procedure was uncomplicated.

We had a little problem finding the place on arrival. First ending up on the Bay Bridge for Oakland - having entered Bryant street from the Embarcadero. Then is the address misplaced on iPhone maps (across Bryant) and the number on the door hard to see when dark.

We would love to go again.

  • Martha and Amadis' home was absolutely beautiful. The area surrounding the house was beautiful as ever. Our hosts very informative and accommodating. My friends and I were a little early and had to drop off our luggage and our hosts allowed us to stop by and do so until they were ready. I had the pleasure of meeting Martha and her son. Very nice people. I highly recommend this spot.

  • We loved staying in this place. As a couple with 2 kids, everybody had their own space. The apartment is very charming and "homely", it actually seems to be a real home, with is not the case of most airbnb rentals. Kitchen was well equipped and stocked with all the basics, which was very nice. We were also happy to discover the neighborhood. Only problem: the garage didn't fit our car, and it is quite difficult to find parking space in the area.

  • This place is perfect! We parked our car in the garage and didn't use it again until we left. The neighborhood is great and everything is in walking distance. Communication with Amadis and Martha was easy and always emailed back right away. Will definitely stay again next time were in SF!

  • Everything worked great with this stay. The place was as described, very clean, spacious and with car garage which is essential in Mission if you have a car. Communication worked great as well. I highly recommend this place for staying in Mission area.

  • Very good experience with Amadis and Martha. House was just as advertised. Great location and comfortable. They gave us a long list of local restaurants and favorites, which made it even better. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Amadis and Martha have a lovely house in the Mission district really close to Bars restaurants and the bus downtown. We had a really nice stay there with our 2 children. Only minor drawback was the general noise from the street but we quickly got used to it. We would recommend this house and the lovely Mission district

  • It's a beautiful apartment. It's the first time for one of my friend, my wife and I use airbnb to rent an apartment. Because we rent the whole apartment, we didn't see Amadid and Martha. But Amadis give us very detailed information and answered our questions very detailed. If we traveled in San Francisco again, I will still consider their house.

  • We had a wonderful time at Casa Quixote, and Amadis & Martha were extremely responsive, friendly, and welcoming. I would recommend this Air BnB listing to all of my friends visiting San Francisco -- the house was clean, spacious, and included free coffee and other sundry items. There are great restaurants and bars within walking distance of the house, and the neighborhood felt safe to walk around alone, even as a 30-something woman.

  • We had a great stay at the mission district. Amadis & Martha are very nice and the apartment is super clean and well stocked upon our arrival. The garage is a little too small to fit our 7-passenger van but it is big enough to host a full-size sedan.

About
I am an advocate for youth. I teach modern world history and college access classes at Mission High School by Dolores Park. My wife Martha Maria is a biologist who is wild about marine mammals. Our son Oliver is busy exploring the world of playgrounds, insects, and new shapes and sounds. Amadis is from Berkeley with roots in Argentina and Peru, and Martha Maria is Colombiana all the way. We love wandering through the Mission, learning about the history and watching it change on a daily basis. We are honored to have you as our guest, and we hope you explore the neighborhood to the fullest. Cheers!
