About This Listing
This is a cozy and family-friendly apartment with two bedrooms. The main bedroom/living room has a king bed and a large sofa and chairs. The second bedroom is a baby room, but fits a single blow-up mattress that we can provide. There is also a separate dining room, and a separate kitchen.
With polished wood floors, a few plants and lots of natural light, the apartment has a simple, warm feel. From the second bedroom and the living room you have an angled, elevated view on to Morningside Park. There is little, if any, street noise. The neighborhood is safe and clean.
The apartment is steps away from Morningside Park which is lovely for casual walks. It is also a 15 minute walk from Central Park. Columbia University's main campus is one block away (a 2-3 minute walk) and the area has a number of cute cafes and restaurants.
There is easy access to major subway lines (1, 2, 3, A, B, C, D) which take you downtown in 15-20 minutes.
No smoking, keep this a family-friendly space. Please take off shoes.
The apartment was exactly as described. Amazing location with just a short walk to coffee shop, drug store, and the subway. Everything you needed right there. Right across the street from a beautiful park! I felt perfectly safe AND there was street parking! It was exactly what we wanted for our weekend.
Izumi was so helpful and answered all of my questions! I knew I could text him at anytime if we needed anything. He was incredibly accommodating, very friendly, and even provided us breakfast!! Thank you so much for everything! We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to NYC!
Izumi is very conscientious in responding to correspondence promptly and thoroughly. He was generous in answering questions related to his neighborhood and happily shared tips on transit, coffee, restaurants and amenities. The apartment is almost exactly as shown, the main difference being the massive and comfy king sized bed that is now in the living room in place of the desk as pictured. The whole apartment was professionally cleaned prior to arrival. Staying here feels like staying at a family member's apartment and judging by past comments and availability of dates, you can feel good renting this place because it is clearly just a family opening up their home when they are out of town as opposed to some of the apartment rental airbnb schemes that are creating some controversy in New York in light of the scarcity of rental units for New Yorkers. Proximity to Columbia and Harlem is great and subways are close at hand, as well as groceries, restaurants and cafes. Basic amenities were included (wifi, towels) but toiletries were not made clearly available, so it's a good idea to travel with a full kit of soap, shampoo, toothpaste etc. Izumi had kindly left us a loaf of pumpkin bread, but anything more (such as bottled water or fruit) you had better be prepared to get for yourself. All in all, this is an outstanding, cozy, clean no-frills family apartment in a great neighborhood and a convenient jumping off point from which to access any part of the city, yet pleasantly quiet and removed from the hustle and bustle of other areas. You will surely find that it has everything you need for a reasonably priced stay in New York City.
Izumi and his wife were wonderful hosts. Izumi was incredibly responsive and helpful. Izumi's communications were clear, warm, and friendly. He really made us feel special because of all of the extra care and thought put into making sure that we had a positive experience. Izumi's property is wonderfully located in a very safe neighborhood close to subways, which made accessing NY so convenient.
I was there taking my daughter to college campus visits in NY. Izumi was genuinely interested in her experience. He also offered to share his insights and answer any of my daughter's questions about Columbia University. It was this type of thoughtfulness that was so impressive and reflective of the authentic type of person that Izumi is.
So, the place is as described. What's not described is how peaceful it was to have this wonderful space so close to the hustle and bustle of NY, but so distinctly "home-like." It provided a much more genuine feeling for NY than staying at a hotel property. It is also why, I would not consider staying anywhere else the next time we visit NY. The stay at Izumi's place may have come and gone, but the customer service, interaction with, and the way Izumi makes you feel is something that you carry with you.
Wonderful place and even better host!
This was such a wonderful place to stay! It was in a fantastic location close to several subway lines and lots of good restaurants. Our host was amazing! He was easy to communicate with before arriving in NYC and answered all of our many questions! He and his wife were incredibly accommodating and friendly!
