Come and enjoy this one of a kind hand made home in beautiful Belmont. Design with a sense of personality and purpose imbues everything and each piece of art is a local connection. Rich, serene and open, you will be very comfortable.
This beautiful brick house is located in the heart of Belmont, a ten minute walk from the downtown mall. Within just a block of Belmont's fabulous restaurants, such as Mas Tapas Bar, Charlottesville's #1 restaurant many years running. It is a safe and quiet neighborhood with great old houses, with ample parking and parks nearby.
Your party will have the entire house. I have a room with fellow artists about a mile away. The main bedroom has a full sized bed with dressers and closet space. There is also a full divan in the front sitting room. The dining room has a dinner table, a futon and music system. The entertainment room sofa doubles as a twin bed. You are welcome to use the kitchen, and any ingredients you may need. The bathroom has a tub with shower, washer & dryer, and toiletries. There is cable, and high speed internet.
I am a full time potter, but my last job was a concierge at a local B&B, so I will be able to help you with your questions about the area.
The house is filled with great local artists' work that you will get to see and use my pottery during your stay. I enjoy having people getting to touch and feel my work and spend more time than you might in any other setting. My upstairs neighbor Nora owns the vintage and antiques store Low, on the downtown mall.
I always have locally roasted coffee and for breakfast homemade yogurt and gluten-free granola. If you like donuts, Spudnuts (donuts made with potato spuds), is a short walk away. There is a free trolley downtown that will take you to University of Virginia, to see the Rotunda and the Academic Village or if you are in town to watch a game or show at John Paul Jones. Thomas Jefferson's Monticello is only four miles away with a great boardwalk leading up to it that I can tell you more about.
To see what there is in the vicinity of the house be sure to check out my guide.
If you would like to see more of my pottery, you can search online for Budala Pottery.
You will have the entire house including the front porch. I will be working in my studio at times which is in the back yard but I will not be coming in the house. You are more than welcome to visit me however.
The check in is automatic; the keys and instructions will be by the front door when you arrive. I am always available by phone.

Alp's house was awesome. Just as described in the listing. It was a short walk to the downtown mall and near great restaurants. Alp makes terrific granola and had delicious coffee for us to use. He was easy to text and left directions for use of his house. I would stay again.
Alp's place was fantastic. It is in a great spot to walk to the downtown mall. Everything was as advertised, clean and comfortable. The lock on the door is a bit tricky and it did take a few tries to get it locked and unlocked, but once you learn the trick, it is pretty easy. That's the beauty of older homes. I highly recommend his place.
Love Alp's place!! Our favorite place to stay in C-ville so far...
Alp's place was extremely clean, in an excellent location, and I would gladly stay there again. The artwork, pottery, furnishings, homemade yogurt and granola -- truly a terrific experience, and I would recommend it to anyone.
We were a party of two, staying in late January 2014. Alp's place was more than enough room, with one of us using the larger bedroom, and the other sleeping on the bed that's in the living room. The place has an old charm that I loved. We happened to be there over one of the many cold snaps the area is getting this winter, but sleeping was comfortable with the use of the provided space heaters and the ample blankets on the beds. It's interesting to use Airbnb and see the variations between different hosts in terms of how much or little they emphasize the breakfast part of bed-and-breakfast. To Alp's credit, he really makes an effort to provide. Others have mentioned the delicious granola. There is also coffee and, at least during our visit, homemade yogurt. It was all we needed. Only spending one night, we didn't get too much of a chance to explore the neighborhood, but it's lovely and convenient to anywhere you want to go in Charlottesville.
Great spot! Close to lots of neat stuff - including two breweries. The home was lovely.
It was easy working with Alp.
I enjoyed the apartment and the artwork.
We had a very nice 2 nights in Alp's house - it was as described, and well equipped for cooking. The place is full of artwork and wonderful looking pottery and felt very creative and calm. The location was good for us too, it is in a quiet neighborhood and we walked to a local restaurant (The Local).
We didn't get to meet Alp but the homemade granola and yogurt were delicious and he was very responsive to our emails.
Would definitely recommend it.
Alps house was great! Simple, cheap, easy, and a very pleasant space
Had a really wonderful stay at Alp's place, it really felt like we had been given a home to borrow. The house itself is beautiful, very clean and it has everything you need including an excellent bed and hot shower. Check out Mas, just down the road, for excellent tapas, and Beer Run, also a short walk away, for incredibly cheap and good craft beers. Absolutely 5/5 stars, beautiful town and hope to be back sometime in the future.
