World Heritage Island Truly Asia..

Apartment - Private room · Miami Condominium, Jalan Pantai Miami, Batu Ferringhi, Penang 11100, Malaysia

The Space

Thank for reaching out to me on this listing.

For my guests information, l am the owner of the apartment in Miami Green. It is important and useful to know also l own a studio apartment in KL, the capital city of Malaysia also listed in Airbnb. Its listed as "Studio@ Easy to Downtown KL Anywhere". Please visit it in case you would like the convenience of connecting to 2 apartments and one owner who is always willing to ensure you have comfortable stays.

Now about Island Heritage Truly Asia. This is probably one of the the best locations on the island to any local, new or season traveller. Just looking into the sea from my balcony will mesmerize you every day of your stay.

The accommodation available is a distinctive furnished Master bedroom with attached bathroom that comes with a tub. The view is unblocked and unmatched along the island, with a perfect view of the Indian Ocean. You can actually hear the waves of the seas.

Miami Green, as the condo is known derived its name after the beach in front of the condo known as Miami Beach. and this place is really green as the name. In fact, my place has a jungle behind it so the environment, both sea and jungle, is simply awesome. Miami Green (MG) is located along charming widely hilly and idyllic coves and beaches of the northern Penang coastline with its one main road.

My place has all the modern amenities and facilities (my guests say the swimming pool is very beautiful and the environment very tranquil) is just perfect for winding down and relaxing. Other facilities, besides this stunning pool includes water garden with bubble pool, spa, baby pool, sauna, squash, gym, and tennis. The fact that my apartment is located in C Block means you also have your own small swimming pool at the immediate ground floor.

The Rapid Bus #101 bus service from here to downtown and the UNESCO world heritage is very regular (every 20 minutes), and offers a most interesting bus rides with interesting insights into local people and our local culture and way of life You can't help it but to enjoy the ride.

My apartment per se is simple, no frills, uncluttered and minimalism yet individualistic in design, relaxed and inviting. equally nice for the young and old. The master bedroom with ensuit bathroom is for my guests with a wide sea-view. The third room is an extra room available for a third guest and is jungle-facing.

No location is more proximity to nature, forests and beaches than Miami Green. Its location along Penang's northern coastline at Miami Beach is one of Penang's best locations. Beaches such as Moonlight Bay, Shamrock, Batu Ferringhi and many others along its stretch are scenic and awesome. Most visitors will be instantly thrilled about the cool and peaceful ambience of the place and its natural surroundings.

Food stalls and a restaurant are available by Miami Beach down the road not 10 minutes walk away. The stalls are opened mostly throughout the day while an Indian restaurant down by the beach from the bus stop opposite HydroHotel opens from morning to 10pm daily.

More about the location and public transport. Miami Beach, where my place is located is connected frequently by the Rapid Penang Bus #101) to downtown Georgetown via Komtar bus station and ends at Penang Jetty passing through Penang's heritage areas of Chinatown, Little India, Malay and nearby to the old Civic & Commercial areas.

For your further information, the Penang Jetty terminal is where you can cross to the mainland by ferry to get to the Butterworth bus station and KTMB train stations for your journey north to Thailand and south to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Komtar, is the downtown bus terminus where bus #101 and all other Penang buses converge and continue along its journey to the end which is at Penang Jetty Bus Terminal. From Komtar, one can easily catch a bus to all over the island and places of interest such as the Pagoda or known as Kek Lok Si Temple, Botanical Garden, Snake Temple, the War Museum, Penang Hill etc.

Rapid Bus #101 from my place to the end which is the Penang Jetty passes along main attractions and numerous eating places and ending centrally along Georgetown's Heritage Quarter stretch (via the famous Chulia Street) streets upon dropping off around here you're within minutes to great locations like Little India, Armenian Street, Little China with their heritage attractions like Khoo Kongsi, Kapitan Keling Mosque, Cheong Fatt Tse Mansion, Chew Jetty, the old City and Town Halls, the charming esplanade, Fort Cornwallis and many more attractions. The #101 bus ends at the Jetty Bus Terminus.

Downtown, you can also choose to take the hop-on and hop-off the free bus service known as Cat which shuttles between Komtar and the Jetty every half hour. Like the #101, you are also never far away at any of its stops which skirts the heritage area.

Along and beyond the island's northern stretch of beaches known as Batu Ferringhi are the more natural attractions. such as Teluk Bahang Fishing villages and Penang National Park (this is a great escape into the jungle and isolated beaches, don't miss this!). Also, you can visit the Toy Museum, Butterfly Park, fruit plantations, a waterfall, Spice Garden, hilly vistas and rustic villages and countryside minutes away. Miami Green is perfectly located to plan and organize your round the island trip either by car, motor bike or bus.

More about the resort town of Batu Ferringhi nearby, just 15 minutes by bus from my place. Right here is the most popular beach of Penang, Batu Ferringhi beach, with its many sea and beach sports activities by day such as jet skies, banana boat, parasailing etc. Also, the location of Hard Rock Hotel, the coolest musical joint in Penang.

The famous Batu Ferringhi night market located along the only main road of this town. This almost 2 km long (probably the longest in Malaysia), and comes alive every night beginning at 7pm. It has also the longest and most popular beach with a happening night-life right along the main road and by its beach front. There are also several outdoor food courts (the Long Beach and I Love You), many cafes and restaurants. You can feast at the best that local food have to offer just !0 minutes away by bus from Miami Green.

Around Petronas gas station area, at the start of the night market, which is incidentally has a taxi stand and bus stop, there are also many local food stalls and a 24-hour Indian restaurant besides KFC and McD (also 24 hrs)..ha..ha..a last resort to wet your appetite when in Penang 8 days a week.

To sum up. Speaking for myself, I enjoy sharing with all my guests what l know about the island of Penang in our local perspective. Basic thing you to know about Georgetown's UNESCO heritage location is that it can be covered all the way just by walking. If you have a car, its good to park it somewhere near. Try this method, its the perfect way!.

You are never far away from food and no need to be twinkle-eyed by the high-density food map of Georgetown that is available. Food is available everywhere. Just know the extra secrets areas from the locals. Georgetown can be hot but never far away from a cool tea tarik (pull tea) or ABC (ice shavings with fruits, peanuts, corn etc, more like ABC to Z goodness). Thus, wearing a hat will keep a cool head literally:)

My apartment is available all year round in this land of perennial summer. Good luck in your travels wherever you are.

Guest Access

Swimming pool except the gym is accessible to my guests. The kitchen has a micro-wave oven and hot water kettle for hot drinks and for basic cooking and food preparation on a hot plate. You can use the toaster and washing machine too.

Interaction with Guests

I like to interact with guest during morning breakfast and is happy to share an occasional dinner and always available to guide my guests to places around around the island.

The Neighborhood

Peaceful and calm with little traffic.

Getting around

The bus #101 travels frequently waiting time every 20 minutes between the National Park in Teluk Bahang at one end ending at Penang Jetty at the other end passing along the fishing village of Teluk Bahang, Spice Garden, Floating Mosque, Sleeping Buddha and enters the Heritage area along its way. Journey takes a little over half hour. The efficient service extend till 11-30pm between both ends. These are ultra-modern comfortable air conditioned buses as with all buses in Penang are wheel-chair friendly and easily accommodates a family pushing a pram. All buses as the #101 start from Jetty via Komtar to other places of interest such as Penang Hill, the Pagoda and Botanical Garden besides Snake temple, War Museum etc.

Also, there is a free bus service called the CAT that starts at Komtar and ends at the Jetty covering the Heritage areas as well.

You can buy a 7-day bus pass for unlimited journeys which costs RM30-00. its sold at the Rapid Penang Infor booth at Komtar.

  • Khalid's apartment is in a great location if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist-heavy areas but an easy bus ride to those areas for all your sight seeing needs. Khalid is a kind and generous host who is concerned with any of your needs. He is a great guide for food and will provide you with maps and suggestions if, like me, you're a traveler who shows up and THEN makes plans. The beach, food, national park, and Georgetown were all within easy access and my pleasant experience as Khalid's guest made me certain that I would return to Penang in the future.

  • Me and my wife enjoy traveling together and we've always stayed at hotels and resorts when we are on a vacation. This was our first ever stay via AirBnb and we consider ourselves extremely lucky to have found a host like Khalid!

Clearly, he's not doing this for money. Instead, he has passion behind what he's doing. You'll realize it, looking at over 50 picture of him, traveling across the world in the last few decades. He gives complete freedom to his guests and helps with a lot of suggestions, things-to-do, places-to-eat, etc.

It was fun sitting and chatting with him over a couple of meals, late night snacking, etc. I really appreciate how he used to give us hand-drawn maps to drive around! He even invited us for dinner and got us the famous Mamee noodles which beat every other cup-noodles in the world, hands down.

Both Meera and I would like to wish him the very best with his new endeavor and we look forward to meeting him again.

    Best wishes, Khalid!

  • clean, tidy, basic condo with lovely views of ocean and miami beach.
khalid was a friendly, welcoming host with armfuls of literature and info all about penang and how to get about and what not to miss.
the other guests passing through while i was there were an absolute bonus....i met some really interesting people.

at night i had gorgeously chilly airconditioning in which to sleep soundly and in the morning i would throw open the windows for a fresh cool sea breeze before the day got really hot.

the buses along the coast are absolute thrill-rides and not to be missed. keep your times flexible around the buses....they sort of arrive when they feel like it.

the broadband wifi belongs to the condo complex andit was erratic and slow. do not rely on it if you have important correspondence to keep up with while you are travelling, or images to send.

there is loose tea and coffee available, but nothing could be found to actually make tea or coffee with! you will fall back on the instant stuff.

pros: clean, airy, fab views, helpful friendly host, lots of room.
cons: travel time, terrible wifi, no tea or coffee making gear

  • Fist off Khalid is a great communicator. At every stage during the build up and visit we were given full information. At no point did we ever feel we would be let down. His directions to gain entry were very good.

His home is situated not too far from beaches and eating places. The bus stops just at the bottom of his road and will give you the ability to explore the island. We bought a weeks bus pass for 30 Ringit (£6).

The apartment was clean as were the sheets and towels supplied. The shared facilities such as pool and gardens are well maintained by the management company.

There is 24 hour security and you will find that they are both friendly and a mine of local information.

Thank you Khalid for a great Stay.

  • Khalid is a gem. His place hugs the beach and has an excellent view. Must go.

His location is near a place with all the food area and is a popular and affordable tourist spot.

Take a bus or cab from the main road to all the key areas of Penang.

The place is fantastic and Khalid is the ambassador of Penang.

    Truly perfect.

    Stay with him.

    Response from Khalid:

    Thanks Clement,

A pleasure meeting you. Hope to see you again.

  • Great view from Khalid's apartment, and though I wasn't able to meet Khalid as he was travelling to KL, I would recommend staying at his place. The pool is a very nice addition to relax a bit while staying there.
Tip for Penang: rent a scooter & explore the island. By far the easiest way of getting everywhere.

  • Had such a great stay, Mr Khalid was so nice and helpful. We only had a short stay here but made the most of it thanks to Mr Khalid : ) Beach is literally across the road and the swimming pools in the complex are great!! View from bedroom is amazing! A great stay!

    Response from Khalid:

    Hi Lauren,

Thanks for coming. keep in touch you hear!.

  • Khalid was a fantastic host! He's very kind, charismatic and always shared great tips and stories! Our ferry was delayed and arrived late at night, but he waited up and greeted us with a smile. The room was spacious, included a private bathroom, and you wake up every morning to a beautiful seaside view.
Every morning he had toast, jam, coffee and tea available for us. Guests should definitely try out the apt's pool -- a nice place to relax after a full day of exploring.
Miami Beach is 5 mins walk from the apt.
A 10 min bus ride would take you to the main strip of Batu Ferringhi and 30-40 mins to downtown.
I highly recommend Khalid's place and I can't wait to meet him again!

  • We had a wonderful time during our short stay at Khalid's place. The view from the room is fantastic. The large pool was incredible, and there was monkeys right out back! It's a short bus ride to town and there is decent food right across the highway.
