Try 21st century camping in one of our comfy camping pods in North Yorkshire. The Small Pod is ideal for 2 people, but you can fit in a child and dog too. Just bring everything you would camping - apart from the tent!
This is Stang Pod, which is situated in the corner of the 'Poddery' and looks out towards the Stang Forest.
Hillcrest Park is our 6 acre, holiday location in the northernmost of the Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale. Surrounded by farmland, it offers peace, tranquillity and beautiful views of Teesdale – yet is only 10mins from the A66. It is ideal for walkers, cyclists and dog owners (we have a dog walking field onsite) and is close to Richmond, Barnard Castle, High Force Waterfall, Raby Castle and a host of other Dales attractions.
We have ten timber Camping Pods available for hire on a nightly basis.
Camping Pods are solidly built, insulated wooden huts that provide comfortable accommodation. They have good headroom and a carpeted interior floor area, with lights, a heater and an electric socket to power mobile phones, laptops and travel devices for that little bit of extra comfort. There is timber decking providing somewhere to sun-bathe, prepare food or hang your wet gear. The window and lockable French doors are double glazed and the Cumbrian sheep's wool insulation and fitted heater means that the Pod really is a year-round option.
There is a cycle storage area on site and we also hire out camping stoves and mattresses if you require and can provide a breakfast pack with advance notice. You will have full use of our centrally heated amenity block with free showers, loos, hairdryer, hot water for dishwashing, fridge, kettle, microwave and hob plus a coin operated laundry.
There are picnic tables/benches provided for each pod as well as hardstanding for barbeques.
If you don't want to cook outside for yourself, there is a good pub a mile and a half up the road in Caldwell (the Brownlow Arms) which serves food in the evenings. But if you fancy a good walking destination, you can wander down to Winston Gate (15mins walk away) and take the Teesdale Way along the river Tees towards Whorlton and have lunch at The Bridge, which is open from 10am until 11pm and is also dog friendly. Alternatively, you can head into Staindrop and have brunch on the green at the Laurels cafe.
All in all, the Pod really is 21st Century Camping. So why not revisit those fun childhood holidays, but this time with grown-up comforts.
Guests have access to our centrally heated amenity block with free showers, loos and campers' kitchen, and also our 3 acre field, ideal for exercising both children and dogs!
Interaction with Guests
We're here to help all our guests if they need it. But also happy to let them enjoy their break in peace!
Hillcrest Park is a peaceful location, and people visit us to have a quiet break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Therefore we ask that our visitors are quiet after nightfall, and no noise after midnight.
Had a great time in lovely quiet and tranquil location. Great for cycling! Pods were cosy and spacious. Highly recommended
A lovely stay in a lovely part of the country. Kate and Ed were very helpful and friendly, and the site was excellently maintained. Would highly recommend :)
The pod is located in lovely countryside with great views but only 10 minutes from a major town with all the amenities you could need. Great facilities, brilliant welcome and tour round. Showers and toilets were pristine. Would recommend a camp bed if staying in the winter to avoid the lower cold but would like to enjoy in the summer and make use of the picnic bench. Thank you.
Very warm and friendly welcome from Ed and Kate.
The site was clean and tidy and the facilities were of a good standard.
Enjoyed staying in the pods and would recommend them if you've not had a go yet.
Fantastic location. The pods are great. Very clean, warm and spacious. Would highly recommend
Everything was exactly as expected from the website ... if not better. Had a lovely night in the pod and our dog enjoyed playing football in the next field next morning. Very welcoming hosts and Kate was very quick to reply to our enquiry for a booking. Will definitely go again. Many thanks.
We had a fantastic time and will be back soon. The pod's are cosy and the blind completely blocks out the early morning summer sunrise. The facilities are clean and Kate is a great host.

Me and my husband, Ed, run Hillcrest Park, which is a small holiday destination in Teesdale - one of the Northernmost of the Yorkshire Dales. It's our home as well as our business, so we like to make sure people feel welcome, whether they're staying in one of our cottages, pods or bringing their own motorhome or caravan.
