The apartment is situated in the heart of the beautiful small & quiet resort of La Herradura on the Costa Tropical. It is located on the ground floor in a private shady courtyard, only 100m from the beach & 50m from the nearest shops & quiet café bars. It could sleep up to 4 people, as there is a double sofa bed but the shower room/ toilet is accessible only through the bedroom.
La Herradura is a very Spanish town, with a vibrant local community. There are many small tapas bars, lovely restaurants & shops, as well as a beautiful sheltered beach with maginificent views & sunsets!
La Herradura is very accessible from the A7 motorway, only 80km from Malaga airport & a similar distance from Granada. Both cities are worth a visit. Nerja is about 12km west & the moorish town of Almunecar about 5kn east. Cantajarran naturist beach is in the next bay, only 3km away with the beautiful Cerro Gordo 'parque natural' high above. Marina del Este is also 3km away, offering diving facilities, boat hire, a beautiful beach bar & a selection of restaurants. There is a good bus service.
The apartment has a living/ kitchen area with a double sofa bed, a double bedroom & adjoining shower room. The patio area is private & partly shaded, ideal for eating out.
There is a fridge, washing machine, kettle, toaster, microwave, hotplate, iron & ironing board, cd player & hairdryer, in addition to the usual crockery & cutlery. Ceiling fans keep the apartment cool. Linen and towels are provided & there are also 2 beach towels to save on the packing! Wifi is available nearby in a number of bars & restaurants. Free on-street parking is also available within 50m.
The beach, promenade, shops & bars are very close by, but the area is very peaceful & tranquil being part of the old La Herradura village. The walk to the beach is on level ground. Collection from Malaga Airport may be possible for an extra charge.

La Herradura is unique, in that it combines the qualities of a small Spanish resort with a small fish village. Everyday life goes on all around adding an extra dimension to your holiday.
There are good public transport links provided by ALSA buses (see website). There are regular buses throughout the day to Malaga, and also even more regular local buses running to Nerja/ Almunecar, Motril & beyond. It may be possible to arrange transport to & from Malaga Airport for an extra charge.
Other Things to Note
The nearest airport is Malaga. Those flying internally within Spain may be able to fly into Granada which is a similar distance away. Collection from Malaga Airport may be possible for an extra charge.
We expect our guests to treat the aparfment with respect & leave it as they find it. Smoking is not allowed inside but the patio is accessible for smokers. Sorry, but pets are not allowed. A washing machine is available for those staying for prolonged periods. The plants on the patio like water so it would be appreciated if guests would give them at least a weekly watering! Minimum booking 4 nights.
La Herradura is a delightful little town in Andalusia and John's very cute flat is right in the heart of things. We were met shortly after we arrived by Diana who showed us how things worked. The flat was as described. We were able to make breakfast in the morning and even made pasta one night but there are so many really good and inexpensive restaurants that you won't need to cook at home. Bed was comfy too!
The flat was exactly what we expected, small but everything you need. We went in the middle of August so the town was busier than we thought and it was impossible to find parking.
Our only problem with the flat was the bed, the frame was a bit wobbly and the mattress too soft for us. Every time one us moved it felt like we were on a water bed. John came down to try and sort out the problem as soon as we complained but unfortunately it couldn't be rectified.
Rachael initially had difficulty sleeping because she found the bed 'uncomfortable'. She contacted us & we visited immediately to check that the bed frame was secure. The problem seemed to be that the mattress was too soft for Rachael & she also found the sofa bed in the lounge too hard. We concluded that this was a matter of personal comfort/preference. Only one other guest commented on the bed last year. We checked then & again this week with several other visitors who have stayed and they all confirmed that the apartment & beds were perfect for their needs. We also reviewed our guest book which has comments from guests who have stayed over the past four years & there have been no unfavourable comments. We also personally use the apartment on a regular basis & find the beds comfortable. So, we have concluded that as 2 guests out of over 50 have commented on the bed, it is a matter of personal preference. The main bed has a soft mattress & the sofa bed has a firm mattress. We are sorry that Rachael had problems sleeping, as we want all our guests to have restful & enjoyable holiday. Fortunately, most guests have this experience.
The check-in went smoothly, and the apartment is very comfortable and cosy!
The neighbourhood is lovely, just at the beginning of the old city of la Herradura, which is very similar to the city of Granada. There some nice Spanish restaurants and bars nearby, where in the evening there is live guitar music, sangria and the amazing Andalusian atmosphere!
We ate breakfast almost daily on the patio, and then either walked to the beach - 3 minutes on foot, or took the car to the nearby "wilder" coves like Cantarrijan, which are around a 10 minutes drive away.
A through and through Spanish experience!
We stayed 5 nights at Johns apartment in La Herradura and we really had a good time there. The apartment is big enough if you just wanna spend the nights there. Next to it there is a supermarket and bakery. It`s just a 3mins walk to the beach and there are a lot of bars and restaurants near by. We came by car and drove to different beaches in the area around which are more beautiful. Check the beaches in the Nationalpark.

John and Paul are very kind people whose offer made our stay wonderfull. The appartment was two well equipped rooms with absolutely everything we needed for our holidays and small but clean & aesthetic bathroom. Hairdryer and beach towels made us save on our luggage (website hidden) player, candles and all the small things that make a difference and make you feel at home.
Few words about La Herradura as we were just amazed by this place. If you're looking for a small town/village with quiet local life and not that many tourists, where you can REALY see how local people live, work and party - naturally and not to please the tourists, and of course party with them, if you are looking for a place with a small beach where you can find a spot in privacy where you can hear the sea and birds singing instead of water scooters and people who want to sell you corn every 5 minutes than this is a place for you. We were there on may crosses fiesta and the celebration was of course smaller but more natural and more interesting than tourists shows in Granada and big dance parties in Cordoba. All depends on what you like but we had wonderfull time there. Besides it's a good spot to go visit Granada and Malaga. Nerja is just around the corner. Enjoy! :)
We are 2 guys who are lucky enough to share our time between the UK & Spain. we enjoy travelling & socialising with our friends. The quiet life is for us & we love spending time both in our home in Iznate, which is in the mountains, and at our apartment in La Herrdadura, which is a magical place & only 40km away! It is a small resort, but peaceful & truely Spanish.
We also enjoy walking & relaxing on the beach with a good book or listening to music.
Our motto is that life is for living - you only get one chance so enjoy it!
