It is a quiet duplex, very cozy in a wonderful neighborhood. I love the local feel of Downtown Ames. One of the reason why I moved on this side of town in the first place.
The duplex is right next to a church, 3 blocks away from Downtown Ames Art District, library, local bars and coffee shops, shopping strip, brewery, restaurants, 5 minutes from the mall and 6 blocks away from Starbucks, and Hyvee grocery store.
There are 2 different buses around the corner (1 Red and 2 Green).
Iowa State University is about 5 minutes or less of driving (depending how you drive).

Hestia was super accommodating. The place was very clean and cozy. Guest bed was right by the door which made it very convenient.
The sleeping area was just as pictured, with a very sweet handwritten note (with illustrations!) welcoming us to the apartment. It was clean and comfy. We slept very well. I was worried it would be a little too warm without A/C, but Hestia had ceiling fans and a very efficient window—it was quite cool. She even left treats and water for our dog! All about were wonderful touches—photos, artwork, inspiring sayings. There is a long flight of stairs to get to the apartment—it wasn't a problem for us, but it is something to be aware of. Thanks, Hestia!
Hestia was a great host, I was there four nights and wished I wasn't working so much. I'm allergic to pets and had no issues while staying in her available room. The room title is exactly that cozy. I'm a big guy and felt comfortable, and she had all the amenities available to do some work from home and watch some movies. If ever in Ames I definitely recommend this place! I give it four stars because I've never rented just a room and want to be fair.
We did not have a chance to meet Hestia but she made it easy for us to find our room. Hestia was quick to respond when we asked to stay with her. We appreciated the thoughtful little touches and notes.
The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Hestia does an excellent job. "Cozy in Ames" has everything you need to feel welcome. As a first time Airbnb user, I was extremely satisfied with the whole process. Hestia is very accommodating, and I felt like my comfort was a true priority during my stay.
My experience was a good one. The host was very responsive with text messages and getting in the house was no problem at all. There was a mini fridge in the "room" with water and yogurt which is an ice gesture. There are no walls, just a dividing curtain separating the bed from the kitchen, so there's not a whole lot of privacy but I was in Ames for a conference and did not spend a lot of time at the house except to sleep. I had a car that I was able to park on the street at night and had no break ins or anything. There are parking restrictions during the week on the street for trash pick-up or something so you have to be careful. Other than that the house provided everything I needed during my stay; a bed, a refrigerator, and a shower :) Also very close to Target, Walmart, Chipotle, Starbucks, and Main St. bars.
