The Tuck-Away is a private apartment attached to a single story main house where we live full time. Benefits include a driveway parking spot, private entrance, private bathroom and kitchenette, cable TV, WiFi...and a great vinyl collection!
We have a bright, comfy apartment conveniently situated mid-way between the airport and downtown Portland (10 minutes by car in either direction). Being travelers ourselves, we designed it with the traveler in mind. It's your own private space so it's not cluttered with our personal things, but full of our personal touches. You have plenty of empty closets, hooks and cubbies to spread out comfortably, as well as clean linens, hair dryer, iron, etc. Anything we didn't think of? We're always available by phone, text or email if there's anything you need. Just let us know! The apartment will accommodate up to four people with the convertible couch, but it feels a little crowded with more than two; it's really ideal for a couple.
It has a private entrance with keyless entry so let us know what you want your code to be and that will get you in the door when you arrive. The space includes a bedroom, a living room with a kitchenette and a big bathroom where you can take a shower or soak in the tub. The kitchenette has everything you need for your morning coffee or tea and a quick bite before heading out for the day, and then heat up your leftovers for a midnight snack when you return. Relax on the couch, see what's on TV (extensive cable), catch up on your email (hi speed WI-FI), play some board games, listen to some music on the record player or radio...then sink into the luxurious queen size bed for a good night's sleep.
This is a private apartment so of course we are all about respecting your privacy at all times, but if you see us in the yard, come on out and say hi if you feel like it. We love making new friends and sharing stories! You're welcome to hang out in the front yard at any time but we ask that you only share our backyard with us when we're present, only because our 2 dogs are sneaky and will take any opportunity to slip out the gate for an adventure.
You have exclusive use of the driveway to park your car (a few steps from your entrance), or rent a zip car (1 mile), or rent a bike (1 mile) or ride the bus (2 blocks). Or just walk over to the Beaumont/Wilshire area coffee shops, restaurants, bars, shopping, etc -don't forget to check out our neighborhood guidebook here on Airbnb for personal recommendations and maps to get you there.
Please no smoking or open flames inside. Smoking outside is fine.
So sorry we can't invite your pets, but our two dogs cause too much raucous when other animals are on "their" property.
Please don't open the gates to go in the backyard unless we're present to make sure the dogs stay in the yard. They have free access to the backyard and will run away if a gate is left ajar. You're welcome in the front yard at all times. Thanks!
Tall Pines was perfect in every way. I always judge a place on cleanliness, water pressure and a comfortable place to sleep. This place had all three. The place is very well stocked. If you forget anything from your (email hidden)ey have you covered. The owners, Zoey and Jonathan were very accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate to choose this for your stay in Portland. It's a lovely place.
Such a wonderful little space. Very comfortable, like having your own apartment! Beers in the fridge when we got there, along with snacks, a cozy futon/couch, and a VERY comfortable queen sized bed (which, when you're both over 6 feet tall, is super important.)
Zoe came over and introduced one of their dogs (who was adorable) and made sure we had everything we needed, and recommended a place for dinner that was easily one of the better meals we've had in awhile.
We'd absolutely stay there again next time we make it to Portland!
We had a wonderful stay at Zoe and Jonathan's cozy private apartment. Z&J were excellent hosts providing snacks, beer, water, and various toiletries. The entire apartment was well-organized, clean, and nicely decorated. We hope to return to Portland one day and look forward to booking another stay with Z&J!
We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend at Tall Pines Tuck-Away. Arriving was very easy as all we had to do was set up a code for the front door in advance. The place was spotless and exactly as it was portrayed online. Actually it was even more spacious than we were expecting. There were board games, lots of great books on Portland, coffee and tea, even a couple beers in the fridge! We used public transit to get around and overall found everything quite accessible. Bus stops to various places around town are all within a few block away and the suite is one block from a big grocery store, pharmacy and 7-Eleven. Overall we had a very positive stay and would recommend to friends and family.
our experience was terrific. The house is clean and cozy. Lots of nice touches. We will recommend this place to our friends in the future looking for a place in NE Portland.
I absolutely loved staying at Zoe & Jonathan's bright and inviting space! Their apartment is very spacious, there are lots of amenities like purified water, tourist brochures & maps, Portland magazines, and even Viewmaster slides of America's National Parks! The kitchen is simple & efficient and the interior decor in each room is fun & tasteful. I loved having my own parking space in the driveway & a personalized keycode for the door.
I enjoyed their place so much that I stayed two different times during my annual January visit to Portland, my hometown. They were very gracious about letting my friends & family visit me during my stay.
Now I feel like I have a home away from home. ;-)
Thank you so much Zoe & Jonathan!
This place was adorable!! It took me just 40 minutes to take the Max and transfer onto the bus to get to their place from downtown. It was a perfect place to settle into after a full day of travel to Portland for my friend and I. Zoe sent me the codes to get in so I was able to drop my bags and chill out once I arrived in Portland. The place felt like home! We brought our own growlers and snacks so we could just chill out once we met each other and play with the turntable. Next time I'm bringing a record to add to their collection! Great place to start your trip because they have tons of books and magazines and maps for you to take notes down on directions and addresses. It's not right in the neighborhood but public transit is right there and we had our own spot on the driveway. If you have a bike you are set to roll right into the Alberta neighborhood or head east with Mt Hood on the horizon. There's a cafe that uses Stumptown Coffee just west down the road maybe a half mile. The futon is so comfy we almost forgot about the awesome bed in the bedroom. You'll wake up totally recharged to explore Portland! Check out Pine State Biscuits and Petite Provence for breakfast on Alberta St since you're in that area and the tea shop Townshend's supposedly has amazing Kombucha. Thanks Zoe and Jonathan! We'd love to stay again and meet you next time around!
We have spent most of our lives moving around and visiting various places around the world until finally joining forces in 2010 for a cross country road trip in search of a new place to settle. The natural beauty and local culture is what drew us to Portland and now that we've been living here for a few years, we're sure we made the right choice!
We love photography, movies, dogs, bike riding, road trips, camping, canoeing, snowboarding, and rummaging through estate sales for odd things to put in our house.
