About this listing
The Tuck-Away is a private apartment attached to a single story main house where we live full time. Benefits include a driveway parking spot, private entrance, private bathroom and kitchenette, backyard, cable TV, WiFi...and a great vinyl collection!
We have a bright, comfy apartment conveniently situated mid-way between the airport and downtown Portland (10 minutes by car in either direction). Being travelers ourselves, we designed it with the traveler in mind. It's your own private space so it's not cluttered with our personal things, but full of our personal touches. You have plenty of empty closets, hooks and cubbies to spread out comfortably, as well as clean linens, hair dryer, iron, etc. Anything we didn't think of? We're always available by phone, text or email if there's anything you need. Just let us know! The apartment will accommodate up to four people with the convertible couch, but it feels a little crowded with more than two; it's really ideal for a couple.
It has a private entrance with keyless entry so let us know what you want your code to be and that will get you in the door when you arrive. The space includes a bedroom, a living room with a kitchenette and a big bathroom where you can take a shower or soak in the tub. The kitchenette has everything you need for your morning coffee or tea and a quick bite before heading out for the day, and then heat up your leftovers for a midnight snack when you return. Relax on the couch, see what's on TV (extensive cable), catch up on your email (hi speed WI-FI), play some board games, listen to some music on the record player or radio...then sink into the luxurious queen size bed for a good night's sleep.
This is a private apartment so of course we are all about respecting your privacy at all times, but if you see us in the yard, come on out and say hi if you feel like it. We love making new friends and sharing stories!
You have exclusive use of the driveway to park your car (a few steps from your entrance), or rent a zip car (1 mile), or rent a bike (1 mile) or ride the bus (2 blocks). Or just walk over to the Beaumont/Wilshire area coffee shops, restaurants, bars, shopping, etc -don't forget to check out our neighborhood guide here on Airbnb for personal recommendations and maps to get you there.
Please no smoking or open flames inside. Smoking outside is fine.
So sorry we can't invite your pets, but our dogs cause a raucous when other animals are on "their" property.
Zoe and Jonathan are wonderful! The apartment is exactly as sweet as it looks in the pictures. We LOVED the neighborhood--within walking distance to great food on 42nd Street as well as Fremont, but low key and residential to retreat to afterwards. The apartment is super clean and expertly decorated, and the keyless entry is awesome... now we want one for our house. :) The private backyard nook was lovely in the evenings. The maps, bus schedules, and Portland magazines were also well-utilized. After visiting a few other neighborhoods while we were in town, we were so happy we stayed here, we'd definitely stay here again if/when we make it back out west!
We felt very welcome here and loved the location. Lots of cool places to go nearby. The house was cute and quaint with great furniture and a few snacks to munch on. They even let us borrow an A/C unit because of a heat wave. Wood star here again. Five stars!
The location was great! We were a 5 minute drive from Alberta and a 5 minute walk from the 71 bus which we took to Belmont and Hawthorne and even the MAX line into the downtown area!
The actual place was very clean and very charming! They had great little details like vinyl records, guides galore, board games, viewfinder slides and awesome decor! I was very pleased with their amenities. I also felt very safe with the dual keypad entry system.
We were able to choose our our key code so we felt like it was our own house. The parking was great for us because we felt like we were just pulling into our own garage and it was nice to have our car off the street. Our hosts welcomed us with customized notes around the house. We were left alone the the unit was completely private. The neighborhood was fine.
This was an amazing experience. From initial contact to the last day the hosts couldn't have been nicer. The apartment was fully stocked, absolutely spotless, convenient to grocery stores (and the airport). Parking for the car provided, air conditioned in a hot Portland summer, attention to detail; the hosts thought of everything. Simply wonderful.
Zoe and Jonathan's place was very nice and they were excellent hosts. When an unusual heat wave came through they were accommodating and provided an air conditioner which helped immensely. One of the best airbnb's that we've stayed at. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.
Great place filled with details and charm! Highly recommend staying here with friends on significant other. We only stayed two days but, will come back when we are in Portland again.
About the Host, Zoe And Jonathan
We have spent most of our lives moving around and visiting various places around the world until finally joining forces in 2010 for a cross country road trip in search of a new place to settle. The natural beauty and local culture is what drew us to Portland and now that we've been living here for a few years, we're sure we made the right choice!
We love photography, movies, dogs, bike riding, road trips, camping, canoeing, snowboarding, and rummaging through estate sales for odd things to put in our house.
