Home on the river.

The Space

Enjoy a tasteful, Craftsman home located on the Mississippi River, with easy access to the University, Downtown, light rail transportation, and public trails and waterways!

Whether you are traveling alone, as a couple, with children, or with a friend, we can accommodate your stay. We offer a guest suite that includes a larger bedroom for two, a very small bedroom for one, and an adjoining private bath. The listing is for the main guest bedroom. If you'd also like to book the smaller room, we will add $15 per night (using the "special rate" airbnb tool).

Rooms are characterized by eclectic vintage decor and original woodwork and fixtures. The larger bedroom has a very comfortable queen-size bed, ample closet/storage room, and a desk (wi-fi is available). The smaller room has a pullout single bed. The two bedrooms are separated by a full bath with a large tub/shower. Linens are 100% cotton. In the winter, the bed is made with flannel linens and a down comforter.

Our home is a lovely Craftsman bungalow looking out on the Mississippi River valley. In the winter months, there is always a fire burning in our living and dining area. In warmer months, guests can also enjoy our gardens, back deck, enclosed front porch, stone patio, and the open parkland across the street. Please note that we have cats who tend to befriend our guests! If you are allergic to cats, this may not be the best fit for you.

The Seward Neighborhood is a quiet, residential neighborhood that boasts numerous cafes/restaurants, a large natural food co-op, several arts organizations, and several yoga/meditation centers. From our house, it is an easy 15 minute walk/bike to the University of Minnesota, Augsburg College, and a light rail stop (which provides access to Downtown Minneapolis, the airport, and the Mall of America.)

We love making breakfast, and weekends usually involve free-range eggs, sustainably-farmed bacon or sausage, fresh fruit, and often fresh-baked treats. We are also happy to accommodate your dietary preferences/needs (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free. etc.) Weekday breakfasts may be comprised of simpler fare: bagels, yogurt, fruit, granola. We shop almost exclusively at a natural foods coop, so our ingredients are always wholesome, often organic, and local when possible.

We are casual folk and can either stay out of your way or show you around, depending on your preference. We love having guests in our home, and we look forward to hosting you!

Although we list German and French as languages in addition to English, please note that we are rather rusty.

If you stay with us we can loan you bicycles (including a tandem if you come as a pair), provide you with maps, and point you to fun places to hang out. On that point: Bicycle brethren, we are listed on the (website hidden) touring site and have hosted a number of bicycle tourers. If you are passing through town on two wheels, then you can stay for free.

  • Our stay with Christine and Andrew was great! We were comfortable and warm (despite the cold outside and our southern blood). They made us feel very welcome in their home and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again :)

  • We had so much fun staying with Andrew and Christine, they were so incredibly hospitable, not to mention super helpful as we prepped for our move to Minneapolis. They spent time talking with us about neighborhoods and schools, but were never intrusive. The bed was super comfortable, the wireless was reliable, and the location couldn't be beat, it was truly perfect. Andrew brews some stellar beer too!

  • It was an A plus experience all around. The house, which sits in one of my favorite Minneapolis neighborhoods, is totally charming. The bedroom is comfortable, clean and airy, and has it's own private bath. Hosts Christine and Andrew couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Believe me, they have this down pat. What a wonderful experience. I will definitely want to return on my next trip to the city. Thank you, Christine and Andrew. You're wonderful!

  • As a lot of the previous reviews have stated, this home is a gem. Located very close to the downtown area this is a wonderful place to stay. Andrew and Christine are wonderful friendly hosts and welcomed me into their beautiful home for my trip to Minneapolis. The room was very comfortable with an adjoining bathroom. I was in town to see clients and I wish I had more time to spend with Andrew and Christine as they are pretty cool people. Christine put out a mind blowing spread of food for breakfast that she dubbed a "simple" breakfast. If that was simple I told her I wanted to come back on a weekend to see what she could really come up with! The food was totally unexpected but very much appreciated.

If you're are looking for a place to stay near downtown Minneapolis and want to meet some very cool people, you've found it. I will be staying again for sure on my next trip to town. Thank you Andrew and Christine!

  • Andrew & Christine have a lovely home, and were kind, generous hosts. We booked our stay at the last minute due to a change of plans, and Andrew & Christine were quick to communicate with us. They had tons of suggestions for places to eat and drink in the neighborhood and beyond - we hope to be back in Minneapolis soon to try out a few more of their recommendations.
The house was very clean, the room warm, and the bed super-comfortable. This was a great place to stay!

  • Our hosts were friendly, relaxed, flexible, and accommodating. This home is clean, bright, organized, cozy, and interesting; the arrangement of the suite affords privacy. The location is wonderful....on the river in a quiet residential neighborhood in the heart of the city. The home and location are accurately represented in the description.

Communication prior to and during our stay was clear and responsive. Our stay was brief, but we felt welcome and would love to stay here again!

Thank you Andrew, Christine, and Madeline for sharing your home!

  • Christine and Andrew have a beautiful home in a great location. There are many restaurants and a food coop close by. Also, lots of parking for our rental car. Their location near the Mississippi River is perfect for a beautiful walk with nature. They are very welcoming to their guests. Although my husband and I didn't need breakfast, there was always a warm pot of coffee waiting for us when we woke up in the morning :)

  • Out of town family members stayed at Andrew and Christine's place and had a great experience. They were most hospitable, the breakfast was terrific, and the beds were quite comfortable. Definitely would use their place again.

  • This was my first visit to Minneapolis, in fact my first visit to the USA. Why did I choose a B&B over a corporate cookie cutter hotel ? Well, the clue is in the second part of the sentence, a B&B offers home comforts and the opportunity to connect with local people. With regards to my specific experience, Christine and Andrew provided comfortable accommodation and a home like experience. They welcomed me into their house for a week and it gave me a place of refuge from an intense 5 day conference. My room was more than spacious, the bed comfortable and the water was always hot for a refreshing shower. Breakfast was provided and life was good.
Sited right by the Mississippi river in a quiet, pleasant and very green suburb you have an opportunity to experience a little of real Minneapolis. Yes, the new city is modern, but catch the local bus to down town, take a walk, open your eyes and talk to people. I came from the UK, and I have spoken to more local people in my stay than is the case at home. Local people have been polite, helpful and interesting and if you look around you will see some wonderful examples of old Minneapolis.
Would I recommend Christine and Andrews B&B, yes, it offers all you need for a pleasant relaxing stay, but what makes a place are the people and Christine and Andrew are great people to be around.
So next time you are thinking about a city break, and Minneapolis is at the top of your list, think about coming to stay here, its quiet, comfortable, has great people and most of all its real.

  • We could not have asked for better accommodations than Andrew and Christine's Craftsman Suite on the Mississippi. The house is even more gorgeous in person. The guest suite was clean, comfortable, and beautiful, and the little extra room was the perfect place for our toddler to sleep. Andrew and Christine were wonderful hosts. They were friendly, easygoing, and accommodating. They went above and beyond to provide toys for our son and to keep our suite cool and comfortable during an unexpected heat wave. Breakfast was fresh, filling, and delicious. The location was perfect - we had no problem getting to and from uptown and downtown Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the suburbs. Parking in front of the house was plentiful. We couldn't be happier, and we recommend this beautiful bungalow wholeheartedly.
