Quaint and quirky with up-cycled charm. The Nest is a grass roofed cottage/cabin nestling less than 2 miles from Dingle Town. From the double bedroom you can reach into the conservatory pick flowers and fruit in season. There is an Edwardian sofa bed in the living area which is available for an extra guest.
There is a shower room with basin and toilet. The emphasis has been on keeping things simple and rustic. There is a peat burning stove for cosy winter evenings. Wifi is provided. The kitchen area has a full sized cooker and there is a microwave and small fridge. We aim to attract people who enjoy being somewhere different. If you want hotel accommodation this is not the place for you.
Dingle Town is two miles away. How long it takes to walk there depends on how fast you walk and who you stop and talk to.
The fabulous and hidden Birnham Lagoon with egrets, herons and otters is just down the road. You can also fish there.
The cottage is a fabulous place for exploring the Dingle Peninsula. Within 20 minutes drive there are great sea food restuarants, mountains, beaches, mythology and Celtic charm. If you want a night out most of the pubs in Dingle have traditional music.
If you want to take taxi - all all the local drivers know The Nest - it's about 8 euros to town.
We run regular writing retreats at The Nest and lots of photographers and artists use it as a working hide away. We even have our own serial story going to which you are welcome to contribute.
There is wifi and a washing machine.
It's just The Nest and somewhere to think, muse and restore your soul. As the Irish would say 'A thin place'.
You will have the whole appartment to yourselves.
We travel between Dingle and England. We are happy to share our extensive knowledge of the area with guests and can point out to them some of the hidden secrets of the area. Sometimes even our friends born and brought up in Dingle don't know about them!
We love early mornings down at the lagoon watching the bird life.
The changing light on Mount Brandon enchants us as the sun is setting.
The Nest has it's own parking.
There is no public transport to The Nest but town is less than 2 miles away so walkable or a quick taxi.
We had a perfect week end in Dingle and Louise's house was just perfect!! It was very clean, the bed was comfortable and there was nothing missing in citchen or bathroom. We had no problems to find the house and the view out of the windows in the green fields of Ireland was so nice!!! Thank you Louise!!
Absolutely the best! Wish we would have stayed 2 weeks instead of just 2 days. Loved it.
Had a wonderful stay at Heron's Reach! I used my time here to recharge during a busy week I traveling, and it was the perfect place to relax and use as a launching point to explore the beauty of the Dingle Peninsula.
Can't say enough nice things about Louise and Chris. Genuine people, with huge hearts and a dog that loves everyone (apparently me in particular...Lol). They go the extra mile. I could write on and on but the essence of it is that they epitomize what a host SHOULD be in every sense of the word. Now, I owe Chris a limerick so I will get on with that in due course....:-)
I cannot say just how much I LOVE Heron's Reach. It was so cosy that my mother wanted to stay another day in Dingle.
The house was spacious, clean, and warm. Like other people have said, the place is quite tricky to find at night, my advice is to follow her directions literally. And drive slow.
Dingle is a beautiful place even during winter. Heron's Reach is a beautiful drive between the town and the beautiful views at the end of the peninsular. Louise was extremely helpful and friendly. This is where I want to retire.
Atlantic Cottage is a lovely little home near the beach and several ancient settlement sites. It was a truly comfortable and enjoyable stay--if I ever return to Dingle, I will definitely stay here again!
Louise and Chris are very friendly, down to earth hosts. It was a pleasure meeting them. Thanks for the good night's sleep and friendly dialogue over breakfast!
We loved staying with Louise. She made us feel very welcome and even let us take her dog Zip for a walk.
We've had a very nice experience with Louise.
The cottage is very cozy and fully equipped: you can even find a washing machine/dishwasher and lots of kitchen ware! Rooms looks new and perfectly clean while delivering a great retro-ambiance. Louise is very nice and very responsive, that's a pity we didn't meet in person.
The way to Dingle centre takes ab 40 mins by foot but that's a nice stroll! Don't miss horse riding options around :)
Our stay in Dingle was unfortunately very short but we loved every moment. Louise`s house was lovely, easy to find and very well equipped. We were the only guests in the house, our room was spacious and very clean. We had everything we needed. When we got into the house we were welcomed with a fresh soda bread, butter and jam which was a lovely touch after a hours drive. Would recommend to friends and family.
