Just outside the apartment block is Piazza San Cosimato where there is a large fruit and vegetable market every morning except Sundays. Here you will find not only fruit and vegetable stalls, but also cheeses, flowers, various other edible products such as olives, nuts, bread, pizza, and on and on. On Sunday mornings the famous Roman flee market Porta Portese is literally five minutes walk away. Here there are some real antiques, bric-a-brac, new and old clothes, and oddities of all sorts.
Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere is the most popular gathering place in the area. In this square you will find the church Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in Rome and very much worth a visit. The neighbouring streets have a variety of stores, restaurants, and service-oriented businesses as well as beautiful residences.
Equidistant from the Coliseum and the Vatican, Trastevere is the ideal place to discover the secrets of Rome on foot. Saint Peter's and the Vatican are about twenty minutes away and upon crossing the Tiber you get to Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, the Roman Forum, and many other sights in no time at all. If you want to take public transportation, the area is extremely well served by the tram and the electric buses of Rome.

Maria was a fantastic host. She was super communicative and had her caretaker Silvana help us with checkin and checkout. Silvana spoke English reasonably well and suggested some fantastic places to eat nearby. On our way to Florence she even suggested some there. When we got to the apartment Maria thoughtfully got us milk, cookies and some snacks since the stores close by 8pm and we would not have time to shop for breakfast especially for the kids. When we checked out, they were very considerate and let us keep our luggage in the apartment while we toured the city and came back to pick the bags fro our afternoon train to Florence. Outstanding hostess.

Amazing apartment in the centre of Trastevere. Very clean apartment, lovely furnished. The apartment is perfect located - very central, you can walk to all sights. You have also many restaurants, small shops and cafes around the corner. We felt as snug as a bug in a rug and would love to come back one day.
This apartment is so gorgeous and in the best location ever. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to visit. The food in the neighborhood was some of the best we found in Rome and at half the cost of other areas. We were treated like family by all of the locals and had a hard time saying goodbye. You will get a very peaceful nights sleep in this apartment, it was silent in the night. Ladies will appreciate the lighting Maria installed in the bathroom above the mirror, this is something I never find in hotels. All of the info Maria lists about her place is also inside the apartment so don't worry about printing it out. She arranged for housekeeper to let us in early to drop our bags so we could hit the city. We were just thrilled with the entire experience and hope to stay in this apartment again.
Maria's apartment was perfect for our time in Rome. We wanted to be central but not in a "touristy" area and Trastevere was a perfect home base for our trip - we walked everywhere over the 5 days we stayed and the apartment was perfect for getting everywhere by foot but also close to the metro. Maria's apartment is centrally located off the main stretch in the neighborhood and close to lots of great restaurants. The apartment itself was very clean and nicely decorated and the balcony is a huge bonus. She had a full set of kitchen dishes and cups which were great to have a night in. Additionally, we felt very safe in the apartment and building. Overall a perfect first time in Rome - I'd highly recommend staying here!!
Good & prompt communication right from the start. The apartment is very nice and colourful and very welcoming in a very nice location. The tram station was barely 150 meters. We had a comfortable short stay, though the apartment is a tad too small if you have kids and the stay is longer. this is ideal for a couple. Yet, Maria had provided for all touristy information at the apartment in a very professional manner. D
We had a fantastic stay at Trastevere luxury! Maria is an excellent host in many ways. She was very easy to communicate with before and during our trip. Our plane arrived late, yet she kindly waited for our arrival and welcomed us warmly with fresh flowers, croissants, and even milk in the fridge! She also sent a very nice private driver to pick us up from the airport, which is about a half hour away. I would definitely recommend the private transport.
The apartment is amazing! It has a trendy look and is very clean! Exactly like the photos, plus some extras we didn't expect. The washing machine was easy to use, and there is a clothes line to dry just off of the cute little balcony. The kitchen was well-equipped, even with coffee for us every morning. The bed was so comfortable! In our entire trip, this is where we had the best sleep. The building is quiet, however in the morning you can hear some of the hustle and bustle from the street, which was actually quite charming.
The neighborhood is perfect and there is a popular pizzeria just around the corner, which was convenient for us at 11 pm on our first night. A few blocks away, there is great nightlife and excellent restaurants to choose from for dinner and dessert. There were always people walking around even at night, so we felt extremely safe. The apartment is about a 5 minute walk to the bridge that connects right to central Rome. Maria has an excellent guidebook she made herself, which helped us a lot with logistics. There is also a collection of other guidebooks to reference if needed.
I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking to stay far enough away from the crowded tourist spots, but close enough to enjoy them within minutes. We miss Rome already, but when we do return, we know exactly where to stay!

About the Host, Maria
I believe that travelling has the power to heal, energize and improve the world, and I’m proud to be a part of this community.
I was born in Rome and raised in Pompeii as both my parents are archaeologists.
I moved back to Rome 15 years ago. My interests are travels, food, photography, foreign languages and my favorite hobby is home design and interior decorating, I enjoy anything creative!
I love Italian, Japanese, Russian and Greek food, I also like to cook.
Travel is definitely my biggest passion and it has taken me and my long time boyfriend Federico to about twenty countries along the five continents.
When I travel, I look for places that are not ultra touristy. I want to experience the restaurants and bars that the locals know and love.
I'm hoping that you seek the same. I can recommend some really cool places and things to see/eat/do if you'd like.
I absolutely love Rome and I am the biggest ambassador for it. I love to welcome people from all over the world to this great city so they can share the love that I have for it as well!
I've had some amazing people from all over the world stay at my place and look forward to hosting you.
See you soon in Rome!
