(Website hidden by Airbnb) The light and spacious house sleeps up to 7 in three well appointed bedrooms lets take a tour around ; Upstairs the bathroom divides two bedrooms,on one side the large mezzanine has a double and a small single bed, on the other side the master bedroom has a kingsize bed and its own door to the outside .
(Website hidden by Airbnb) Down stairs to the left of the hall is a private twin or double room with a sink and wood burning stove also with private access to the (Website hidden by Airbnb) the right you first have the shower/wet room .Then we get to the main living spaces, the double height living room comfortably furnished and full of books is the perfect place to enjoy a movie or listen to music or the radio a cool escape from the heat in the summer and in cold weather a cozy space to sit by the wood burner. The house is centrally heated throughout.
(Website hidden by Airbnb) The well designed kitchen is fully equipped to allow you to explore the wonderful bounty of the region and enjoy the copious organic produce of our garden . With a gas hob/ oven, coffee makers, blenders, proper sharp knives and a marble pastry slab, indeed a full “battery de cuisine”. Designed by foodies for people who cook and including of course the usual dish washer, freezer, fridge etc...this is the heart of the house and leads to the garden and shady terrace with a permanent barbecue for outside dinning and sun loungers for lounging .
(Website hidden by Airbnb) From here the garden stretches into a meadow full of wild flowers butterflies and crickets for all to wander in. We have a very productive kitchen garden growing a wide range of organic fruit and vegetables and a lovely furnished yurt available for those who enjoy sleeping “under the stars”
(Website hidden by Airbnb) The swimming option is with dragon flies and the occasional frog in a natural spring fed pool plant filtered and chemical free .
(Website hidden by Airbnb) Everything is designed and intended to be in line with our ecological principals which are to walk with as light a footprint on our environment as possible while in no way detracting from the full enjoyment of our guests . So the house was developed with this in mind recycling where we can using sustainable heating systems and growing much of our food, making the most of what nature has provided in this exceptional part of the country .
(Website hidden by Airbnb) The grid of national foot paths leads right from our door into wooded hills and charming valleys for walks picnics and bike rides, wild swimming and fishing in rivers and lakes. We are surrounded by Romanesque architecture and historic monuments from Roman theatres to castles, from stone age sites to historic towns . In every village cognac distilleries offer delightful adventures.
(Website hidden by Airbnb) At the same time we are only 5 mins. from Angouleme with its markets and shops theatres museums and many types of restaurants. Angouleme is a centre for international cartoon festival and the famous annual vintage car rally round the ramparts . Music and film festivals happen round and about throughout the year.
(Website hidden by Airbnb) Further afield is wonderful Bordeaux with its wine, the wild Atlantic coast and great cities like La Rochelle, all of which offer memorable day trips .
(Website hidden by Airbnb) Les Jesuites is well served by transit systems being 6 mins from Angouleme TGV station with direct trains ( less than 3 hours) from Paris airport or city and connecting easily with London and Northern Europe. There are several local airports with flights from across Europe and of course Angouleme is on the main French road route from Paris to Spain. Locally we have a good bus service within 500 m.
(Website hidden by Airbnb) All in all we think you can enjoy a terrific time here with minimum stress and maximum relaxation with the perfect combination of both the town and country on your doorstep .
