This lovely private house in the midst of the rice fields, located only 10 minutes from Ubud centre. The house is not shared and the pool is fully private as well, there are no neighbours wall to wall with the house.
This house was built 2012, by Ketut and his family its a fully private, renovated two storey house, overlooks the pristine Rice Fields of Penestanan only 10 minute drive from central Ubud.
Its house surrounded by nature, which means insects, bugs, snakes, mice and so forth are part of it living in the surrounding rice fields.
Decorated with beautiful wood furniture, double bed on the top floor, wardrobe, small table and a balcony to watch the sunsets.
We are renting the whole house (not just a room) and the swimming pool with it fully private and only for the house guest.
This is place for those looking to disconnect, to get their creative flow running, a place for lovers of Nature and want to be close to it.
The house has two floors, the stairs leading to the top floor, can be a challenge for people who have a walking difficulty, or small children.
Downstairs has a day bed for for one more person, either an adult or a child.
A large dining table with bench seating.
A fully equipped kitchen.
An outdoor shower and an enclosed separate bathroom is to be found downstairs.
With a porch outside and a plunge pool in the garden.
The House has no immediate neighbours giving it nice privacy but yet close to Ubud center, Penestanan hub, where you can get all you need, restaurants, cafes, local shops and the larger super market and Sayan Terraces by Ayung River.
If you are a light sleeper you might want to be made aware that Roosters are a common property of each house in Bali, and these tend to make noise at the early hours of the morning, you might want to carry earplugs with you.
They are not part of Ketuts house but rather the nearby houses.
Feel free to contact me for more information about the house.
There is not really an official public transport to Ubud, best is to rent wheels (scooter, bicycle or a car) if you frequently want to visit Ubud. Or ask Ketut to arrange a Taxi. (around 5 USD to town) If you are a keen walker Ubud is about 30-40 min walk away. Penestanan is the nearest neighbourhood, only 10 min walk from the house.
Private Swimming Pool (not shared with any other house holds)
The house is private with walls around it
We rent the house not the rooms!
Interaction with Guests
Ketut who is the owner and host during your stay will check you in and be available for any questions you might have.
Kadek is the cleaner who comes every day.
Sayan is a beautiful lush area, next to Penestanan. In penestanan you can find plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants, yoga school, spa's etc.
Scooter or bicycle is the best way to travel in Ubud.
Other Things to Note
If you are easily disturbed by sounds, you might want to bring earplugs as natures "music" in Bali can be loud, frogs, roosters, and dogs are common around the villages.
Please note that if we are booked the same dates as your departure we kindly ask you to to check out by the latest 12 noon, in order for us to clean for the next guest.
If you enter after a guest checks out please be advised that we need two hours to clean. though checking in at noon is all good, as long as you understand that we need time to clean :-)
We require a deposit of 2 mil IDR if you stay for longer then 1 month.
Loved this amazing private pool Villa! Already planning a return trip!! The entire place is kept nice and clean with daily visits from Kadek,(or less often if you would prefer) good fridge/freezer, a handy gas burner and ample kitchen supplies (even a new blender!)...nice smelling bed sheets, good towels etc and large super comfy bed - and 3 different shower options!! We were here in February and the weather was an ideal mix of hot sunny, cooler cloudy and even a fantastic thundery storm or two. Daily enjoyed the sparkling clean refreshing pool - the pool lounge chairs have nice thick mattresses so are really comfortable (slight rip near the top of one of them, maybe this is why there was a comment about them needing replacing?...)! Beautiful in the evening with lights on around the pool and garden, the garden has grown a little more since the photo, the colours of the plants are gorgeous. There is an aircon unit upstairs but we didn't need to turn it on - the fans were ideal. Would have thought there would be more mozzies around but not bad at all (from past reviews and end of wet season time) - the super cute lizards and geckos may help keep them at bay...my morning/evening mozzie cream might have helped too! So many tasty and cheap eats options locally (5 minute stroll onto main road, ayam goreng yum!) plus a handy little minimart, or Ubud 5 mins away on the scooters (or a 30/40 minute walk). If you want a break from Indonesian food try Warung Little India...ridiculously good Indian food - and Kue does great bread. For sure good to bring earplugs or get into an early rise rhythm along with the dogs and roosters...the light in the early mornings and evenings has a real wow factor.
Thank you Andrea for your prompt and helpful communication, Kadek & Dedi for all of your smiles and help and Ketut for ensuring we felt welcome and for sharing this beautiful part of the world with us, a real garden of eden - there are not many places we return to - this will definitely be one of the few! So see you again, hopefully soon!
Pick up from airport by Ketut son Dedi was punctual and driver, Putu was very safe always.
Ketut brother, Koming was an amazing driver when he took over on the second and third day.
Villa was exactly like the pictures shown. Improvements could be made to toilet and kitchen conditions but other than that it was amazing.
The view every morning was amazing.
Mosquitoes were a small issue but easily settled with repellents. Insects often appear in the house but always mind their own business so just learn to live with them. Its quite interesting actually :)
Will definitely recommend to stay here if anyone is looking for a peaceful stay and amazing drivers/host.
Great place! Ketut and Andrea were really helpful. They organised airport pick up, scooter and that super relaxing massage. It was a cool and private property with view of the rice paddies. Really felt close to nature. Will definitely be back as soon as we can!
This place is not what it seems. It single handedly ruined the second half of my trip to Bali. Ubud is a lovely place, but not when you're staying in a place that has no Air Conditioning, no WiFi, is filthy, some lights don't work, and there are huge cockroaches everywhere inside. Not worth what they ask for and not worth it in general. Also too far from the city and the host does not speak any english so there was no one there to give us directions.
It was a great experience in Ubud. The house lord Ketut is a very nice person and came every morning to check whether we need any help. And his son Dedi was also helpful and accompanied us to a great breakfast diner nearby, and help us to book an awesome SPA in house. When we leaving, Ketut told us he's another house was ready for more fellows gathering, which is a good news for us, 'cause we had for girls this time… BTW, if Ketut promise u to pick up u at the airport, don't worry whether u can contact him, Dedi must be there waiting for u ^_^
we were greeted very warmly upon arrival once we found the place. we had a little wait for directions once we arrived nearby despite giving an hour and a half notice of our impending arrival, due to the host attending a ceremony.
this place is more isolated than we expected and was tricky to find.
would not stay here unless you have your own transport, which we did not. the pool was great the place was clean and comfortable but its kitchen and bathroom is very "rustic". i would not say it was a "fully equipped kitchen". the pool lounge cushions need to be replaced.
the views and surrounds are very beautiful and natural.
we found communication a little difficult and for this reason
we left early into our booking - also it was so removed from where we thought it was but that was not the fault of anyone but ourselves... we wanted to be closer into penestanan. this place is very much amongst the locals and is great if you want that. i would recommend it to travellers who need no assistance or have some indonesian or balinese language and want to stay in a village environment. i would say it is probably priced a little high given its location and what else is on offer.
Thank you for your feedback Lynn, indeed this place calls for people who likes to be out of Ubud, and away from it all, and true enough a bit tricky to find in the beginning, and unfourtanatly not on (website hidden) map. Your comments will be take to heart and passed on to Ketut to do all he can to keep the place up to the standard it needs to be. Kind Regards Andrea
We were left quite disappointed with the experience of Ubud because of staying at this home and we left a day early. On a positive note Keput and his family/village were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help especially when our truck got stuck leaving.
However the property itself was not up to the standard portrayed in the photos. It seemed that the maintenance and general cleanliness of the house completely stopped after the photos had been taken. The toilet and bathroom was filthy. The toilet was stained black, numerous slugs around and all the dirty cleaning products were left hanging around the bathroom. The sheets of the bed were not that clean. Half of the lights were not working so it made it quite scary coming back at night (we stayed out the whole day as because we didn't want to go back). The windows did not have very good latches and opened during the night letting in a number of mosquitos. The pool was ok but a number of slugs and lizards hanging around made it pretty unappealing.
It has a lot of potential just needs a fair bit of work and cleanliness to be brought up a few notches.

Hi my name is Andréa.
Ketut is the owner of the Ubud Rice field view house, he is a Balinese friend who has little knowledge (next to none) about internet, hence makes it hard for him to advertise outside Ubud, so volunteered to help him out as this is something I have done for the past 10 years, running my holiday letting agency in Barcelona.
I simply take care of reservations, and once you arrive to Ubud you are in great care of very capable and friendly host Ketut.
Ketut has worked on cruise ships for many years and has vast experience in customer service.
He is renting out his place for those looking to disconnect, to get their creative flow running, a place for lovers of Nature and want to be close to it.
So far no one has been disapointed.
