The Space

This house was built two years ago, by Ketut and his family its a fully private, renovated two storey house, overlooks the pristine Rice Fields of Penestanan only 10 minute drive from central Ubud.
Decorated with beautiful wood furniture, double bed on the top floor, wardrobe, small table and a balcony to watch the sunsets.

We are renting the whole house (not just a room) and the swimming pool with it fully private and only for the house guest.
This is place for those looking to disconnect, to get their creative flow running, a place for lovers of Nature and want to be close to it.
Downstairs has a day bed for for one more person, either an adult or a child.
A large dining table with bench seating.
A fully equipped kitchen.
An outdoor shower and an enclosed separate bathroom is to be found downstairs.
With a porch outside and a plunge pool in the garden.
The House has no immediate neighbours giving it nice privacy but yet close to Ubud center, Penestanan hub, where you can get all you need, restaurants, cafes, local shops and the larger super market and Sayan Terraces by Ayung River.
Feel free to contact me for more information about the house.

There is not really an official public transport to Ubud, best is to rent wheels (scooter, bicycle or a car) if you frequently want to visit Ubud. Or ask Ketut to arrange a Taxi. (around 5 USD to town) If you are a keen walker Ubud is about 30-40 min walk away. Penestanan is the nearest neighbourhood, only 10 min walk from the house.

  • Andrea replied promptly & arranged the pick up with Ketut's brother for us, which we really appreciate.

We enjoyed our stay at Ketut's villa. It looks exactly like the pictures on the website. It is clean & well maintained. Air is fresh & a wonderful get away from the hussle & bustle from city life for city dwellers like us. It is close enough to the city centre in ubud where all the restaurants are located at (~5-10 mins drive). Ketut was kind enough to get his brother to fetch us to & fro for dinner one night.

Ketut & his family are also extremely hospitable & made us feel very welcome. They live just across the street so if we need anything, help is just less than a minute away. Ketut is also able to make arrangements for activities like trekking & rafting for those who are interested.

It can get pretty noisy at night for the light sleepers, with the chickens crowing & dogs barking. But it's nothing that ear plugs can't solve.

I would definitely stay here again in future & recommend Ketut's villa to anyone visiting ubud

  • We had such a nice stay here that we had to add an extra night. We would have stayed longer but other guests were coming. Andrea helped to arrange everything by e-mail, and Ketut got us settled in, helped us rent a motorbike, and even called us a taxi for our next move. The house is beautiful and although it's only a 10-minute ride from the chaos of central Ubud, it feels like it's on a different planet! We're so glad we stayed here and out of the madness. I don't think we would have enjoyed Ubud so much if we hadn't stayed out here. Oh, and this places is a small fraction of the cost of fancy villas with private pools. Take that extra money and go see the shows, get a massage, or eat an incredible meal in town!

  • The villa was very nice for the price, with an amazing view over working rice paddies. The pool was also clean and the garden well-maintained. The location is 5-10 minutes in a taxi from the centre of ubud, and Ketut (the owner of the villa) can easily arrange drivers at short notice. Ketut was extremely friendly and helpful throughout (arranging drivers, guiding taxi drivers etc).

  • The house is quite big suitable for 3 people.
Nice place to stay surrounded by Rice fields.

    Ketut is Nice and helpful.

However there are some details you may pay attention to:
At night the neighboorhoods is very noisy : dogs chicken, all night long..
The kitchen area and bathroom are not so clean.
The place is difficult to find.

  • We were delighted with our three-night stay here. Andréa was helpful in answering questions prior to our arrival, Ketut and his son were friendly and always available to help us during our stay, and we saw Kadek's smile every morning. It is a beautiful house, as pictured; it is clean and a perfect size for two.

The kitchen is equipped with everything we needed to make our morning coffee – water cooler, kettle, stove, glass blender, and mugs. We enjoyed our peaceful mornings on the second-floor deck, sipping coffee, reading, and looking out onto the rice fields. At night, it was cool enough to sit outside and chat under a sky full of stars. Other highlights include the outdoor shower with access to hot water.

We got lost on our way home from town on our first night, but the friendly guards at nearby Baliwood resort helped us call Ketut, who immediately came to pick us up – so if you're renting a scooter, make sure you're clear on where the house is situated before you venture out, as a lot of the little streets look the same! Our marker was a "Terima Kost" sign.

The roosters, cats, and dogs may indeed wake you up in the wee hours of the morning – but this is to be expected, and are likely preferable to city sounds – or to chainsaws and bulldozers :)

We only wish our trip had been longer!

  • Stay at the villa was really great. Me and my wife had a memorable and pleasant honeymoon. We stayed for three nights. The rice field view in the early morning was enjoyable. The response time of Andrea was really quick. Ketut was very kind and he made himself available wheneva any help was needed. I suggest, you must let Andrea be informed for a scooter arrangement on your arrival. The rental for it is nominal. Take a scooter and go around bali. A scooter and GPS in your mobile is what you really need to roam around places, if you love riding two wheelers. The market place is just 5 mins drive from the villa. If you would like to get a car on rent with a driver, Ketut's brother Koming should be the best option. He was on time always and was charging reasonably. A very nice person too. Overall we had an awesome stay and definitely I would recommend this place.

  • We stayed 6 nights and we loved this place! The house is perfect, the pool is very nice and the ricefields are very beautiful. In car or in bike, you could go in Ubud in 10 minutes.

Ketut was a perfect host. He helped us for rent a bike, for organize activities and transports.

His family is very kind and adorable. If you pass in Ubud, you need to sleep here.

  • I stayed for two weeks with my wife and 6-month old baby at Ketut's house and we really enjoyed it. It is in Sayan, west of Penestanan and 5-10 min from everything you need by scooter. There is store 2 min. from the house where you can get most of the basics and there are lots of little street stalls on Sayan road where you can get good local-priced nasi goreng and other traditional food.

We loved the privacy of the house and living in the quiet neighborhood where we quickly got to know the people. Ketut's family helped with everything and Kadek who cleans the house was super sweet and helpful with our son.

The pool is great on hot days and having a private garden feels like a real luxury.

    A few things to notice:
When we were there, electricity went out several times a day, so you need to flexible around that. We like cooking and did cook a lot but notice that the kitchen is very basic with only a few plates and minimal kitchen equipment. Being in the rice paddies there is a lot of noise from roosters, cats and dogs at night so bring earplugs if you need quiet to sleep :)

Other than that, a great place to stay!

  • The owner Ketut was very kind and brought us to his home despite a late-night check in. The home was ok and the views were pretty nice.

About
Hi my name is Andréa. Ketut is the owner of the Ubud Rice field view house, he is a Balinese friend who has little knowledge (next to none) about internet, hence makes it hard for him to advertise outside Ubud, so volunteered to help him out as this is something I have done for the past 10 years, running my holiday letting agency in Barcelona. I simply take care of reservations, and once you arrive to Ubud you are in great care of very capable and friendly host Ketut. Ketut has worked on cruise ships for many years and has vast experience in customer service. He is renting out his place for those looking to disconnect, to get their creative flow running, a place for lovers of Nature and want to be close to it. So far no one has been disapointed.
