Just say yes to healthy lungs and keep the smokes from rolling off your tongue. We love the furry guys but the landlord says no to pets of any kind, so if you don't mind take this vacation without them this time. We like to have fun as everyone does, all things in moderation, that's quite time from 11 to 8 so the neighbors won't hate. Come as you are and leave as it was, all things considered these rules aren't so bad, we don't think they will make you go mad!
I stayed at this apartment for a week while on a business trip, and I had a great time.
I ate at Chi Spacca (top shelf), Mozza Pizza (very entertaining late-night scene), Kamin Thai (family-owned and delicious), Pink's Hot Dogs (blech), and Smoke Oil Salt (top shelf), which are all within a few blocks.
I used Uber to get to Whiskey-A-Go-Go and the Roxy, and those pick-ups took less than 5 minutes each. (Don't even think about drinking and driving in LA. Driving is tricky around here, and the police coverage is multi-layered, which is good.)
The Blue Jam Cafe became my everyday breakfast destination with their healthy food and outstanding service. Go very early, or you'll wait. And wait. Then wait a little longer.
I found the coffee at Stir Crazy and Grounded Cafe to be almost undrinkable, so make your own or go to Blue Jam, which has excellent coffee.
Ralph's grocery store, the Farmer's Market, La Brea Tar Pits and LACMA are within walking distance.
The design elements (vintage furniture, contemporary artwork, aggressive paint choices) of the apartment are very appealing, the bed and linens were high quality, and the internet and TV setup were flawless.
Matt was responsive and helpful every time I contacted him.
The apartment is on the second floor overlooking Melrose, so you should stay at this place only if you enjoy ambient street sounds and sights (which can be colorful here!). Matt has even set up comfy vintage chairs by the living room windows to watch the world go by below.
I would recommend this flat to anyone who would like to feel like a part of a vibrant, functioning LA neighborhood, while having easy access to the freeway by car.
The apartment is very conveniently located, and in a cool part of town. And Matthew does a great job of running it--it's easy to find the keys, all instructions are clear, and when I reached out, he was quick to write back. In spite of that general professionalism, the utensils and dishes were a little dirty, and the building's hallway (but not at all the apartment itself) smelled strongly like cigarette smoke. As long as people have clear expectations, it's easy to recommend.
Like most furnished rentals, guests are responsible, per instructions, to clean all dishware and put away before they leave. My apologies that the prior guest did not do a very good job of this. This is a non-smoking building, and I will submit a reminder notice to the tenants.
This was a fabulous find in LA, great location, clean, and with a lovely coffee shop directly across the road it made it feel like home for two weeks.
Matthew was easy to reach and helped in every possible way with enquires.
Overall a wonderful stay
Everything listed about Matthew's apartment was exactly as described and pictured! We enjoyed our stay and the location is amazing!
I highly recommend this unit!!
Clean and nice place, good location and you can find an uber at anytime. Matthew prepared everything in his place and he responded all the questions we had effectively.
The house is beautiful, clean and functional. The position is perfect and the host answers to all you questions very quickly. Definitely a good place to stay!!!
The apartment was in a great location--convenient to walk to bars and restaurants nearby. There is a grocery store just a mile or so away as well. We had a hiccup with the parking situation that took up a portion of our morning; someone was in our allocated space which caused a domino effect when we parked in the only remaining space... We ended up having to contact another tenant because we were double parked and couldn't get out. The apartment is small but had most everything we needed. Nicely furnished. Comfortable bed. Could see it getting really hot in the summer as the a/c is only in the living room and not the bedroom.
Unit is North Facing, gets indirect sunlight, stays very cool in the summer, the HVAC unit is a European style wall unit and designed to heat and cool a place twice the size of this apartment, it functions very well in the summer and winter for heating and cooling the entire unit.

I have lived in Los Angeles since 2000 and have moved 9 times, living all over the city and in all types of rentals, both furnished and unfurnished. My business is real estate while my creative endeavors involve photography and interior design. My goal is to create environments that make guests truly feel like they have a second home away from home while they are in town.
