Zinfandel House is our home, situated on a wooded hillside a short distance up from Highway 29, halfway between the charming towns of St. Helena and Calistoga which are seven miles apart. Both towns have interesting shops and fine restaurants. Our decks offer spectacular views of the vineyards below, the beautiful mountains across the valley and majestic (website hidden). Helena to the north. Bothe State Park with hiking trails and picnic areas in its forest is our neighbor. Here in the heart of the wine country, we are close to many wineries and other nearby trails for jogging, walking or bicycling.
A room is set aside for reading, listening to music or browsing through our collection of books on food, wine and travel. Guests enjoy relaxing on the decks in summer or in front of the fire in winter. High speed Wi-Fi internet is available throughout the house and now in the bedrooms as well. Ours is a traditional, European-style Bed & Breakfast. We serve a full sit-down breakfast, with delicious entrees from around the world. Come join us and have a relaxing visit in the Napa Valley.

Bette was wonderful! We had an amazing time and her breakfasts were excellent! Look forward to coming back again!
I was looking for accommodation for a weekend wedding -- I feel very fortune to have stumbled upon Bette and George's lovely B&B. It was a pleasure to stay for a few days as my home base.
The room was very comfortable, the breakfast filling and delicious (excellent coffee) and stunning views from the upstairs balcony.
Bothe-Napa state park is right next door. Do yourself a favor and go for a hike! (I *highly* recommend the hike featured on (website hidden) -- in any case, find your way to Ritchey Canyon Trail!) It's a beautiful hike full of redwoods and follows a bubbling brook for much of the trail. Tremendous, now among my favorite in the bay area.
Had a lovely stay here. Accomodating and sweet hosts - I felt like a distant relative returning for a visit and was my first time staying here. Beautiful view, comfy bed. I would definitely return. I came for a conference at the CIA and was nicely located for that!
Bette and George were excellent hosts, as always. They are always very welcoming. Bette whips up an excellent breakfast and George some excellent conversation. We've stayed with them before, and look forward to more visits with them in the future! Sure, we visit the area for the wineries and related events, but visiting with George and Bette is a great part of our trip as well!
I can't say enough about our stay with George and Bette. From our first contact with them, they were kind, courteous and understanding. Walking in to their home is like walking in to a cultural mecca full or original art, books and talismans evidencing their travels from around the world. Bette is a gourmet cook but executes breakfast effortlessly while you visit over a cup of coffee.
The bedroom suite was incredibly clean and comfortable but the views are the star of the show. I walked out of the bedroom on our last morning there and spied a beautiful hot air balloon down in the vineyard below - mind blowing!
My husband and I actually moved an appointment we had our last morning there just so we could spend more time with George and Bette. Staying with them was definitely one of the main high-lights of our trip to the Wine Country! They don't know it yet, but we'd like to adopt them.
George and Bette, Thank you very much for wonderful night's stay in your charming home filled with loving care and treasured memories. The breakfasts were fantastic and there was plenty of food. It was so peaceful and calming, We enjoyed our clean and cozy room with a great view of the valley, bird songs and no traffic noise!
Thank you for investing so much of yourselves so that the good and beautiful things of the past do not die but continue to live and nurture us through your good energy. We appreciated your kindness in making us feel so welcomed and at home. Brightest blessings for you and yours!
Loved the Zinfandel House! Was a great place for home base in a lovely Napa weekend. Bette and George were incredibly welcoming and kind, the room was cozy and comfortable, and the breakfast was fantastic. Wonderful to wake up to great view of the valley. I hope we can join you again some day.

Your hosts are Bette, a former secondary school teacher, and George, a retired petroleum geologist who is currently a wine columnist for the Napa Valley Register after over 20 years of writing for the St. Helena Star. He taught wine appreciation classes at the University of California and Napa Valley College. They moved to Napa Valley in 1980 where they were part owners and principals of a small winery. Zinfandel House was built that year, and they opened it as a Bed and Breakfast the following spring. They enjoy food and wine, and more importantly, they enjoy people. This makes having a Bed and Breakfast so rewarding for them and an enjoyable and unique experience for their guests.
