Perfect place for the independent traveler to stay in a real NY apartment! It's super conveniently located to Times Square, Empire State Building, the Highline, Hell's Kitchen, Penn Station, Javits Convention Center, you get the picture!

There may be a guest in the other bedroom during your stay.

-Air conditioner and fan (late spring, summer, and early fall only)
-Steam radiator (apartment stays surprisingly warm during the winter but pipes sometimes make lots of noise- I have new ear plugs available if you need them)
-Clean sheets, blankets and pillows
-Clean guest towels
The following are available upon request (aka if you ask me about them):
-Shampoo, conditioner and lotion
-Hair straightener you can use my Chi or Biosilk heat protective spray)

Interaction with Guests
WHO IS TAM?
If you're going to be staying with me, you should get to know me. I am a young business professional hailing from Texas (southern hospitality!) trying to make it in the big city. But seriously, I am easy going with 2 years of experience in NYC. Since moving here, I've been inducted into the Yelp Elite and Goog City Experts programs for New York so I know my way around this city, or at least around the restaurants.
I've lived in London, Bath, Istanbul, DC, Bartlesville, OK, etc. etc. I now work at a marketing agency and love it. I speak (all poorly) Vietnamese, Spanish, French and Turkish. I don't drink but don't mind if you do if it's like a beer or scotch after a long day.
We are at most 15 minutes walking from:
-Hell's Kitchen and its amazing restaurants
-Empire State Building
-Macy's (the world's largest store)
-Herald's Square shopping area
-Madison Square Garden
-Jacob K. Javits Convention Center
Yet because we're (email hidden) and 9th Ave, we're far enough away from all the noise and swarms of people.
-surrounded by local restaurants
-less than a block away from the closest bodega/corner supermarket
-less than a block away from a sports bar
-2 doors from local laundromat
-8 minute walk from 24hr pharmacy
For places that you can't/don't want to walk to, we are a block away from the closest subway (Penn Station- ACE (blue) line- very convenient lines!). We are a 7 minute walk from Penn Station (the train station), 9 minute walk from Port Authority Bus Terminal, 9 minute walk from the 123 (red), a 12 minute walk from the BDFM (orange) and a 13 minute walk from the NQR (yellow). You don't have to worry about waiting for the local trains at this location!
Other Things to Note
THIS APT SHARE MIGHT NOT BE FOR YOU IF:
-You are more than a party of 1; this share is for 1 person only!
-You can't climb 2 flights of stairs- this apt is located on the 3rd floor and there are no elevators
- If you are 6 feet and over- I've heard tall guests say their feet go past the futon.
-If you are extremely sensitive to noise (1. it's NY; there are sirens, although all guests have told me it's surprisingly quiet in the apartment given the central location 2. the pipes are sometimes loud in the winters 3. you can sometimes hear the upstairs neighbours 4. I sometimes like to go to the gym around 6:30am so I have to pass through the living room to exit or cook breakfast around 7:30am)
-You need darkness and peace and quiet to sleep before 11pm. I've found out about myself lately that I sometimes cook past 10pm.
-You need to stay for longer than a week. This isn't a hard and fast rule, but generally, we are not looking for someone who wants to stay for weeks.
-You plan on bringing unexpected guests home from your nightly bar crawl
-You're going to be super loud after 11pm
Keys must be returned. Return keys by leaving them on the table. The front door will automatically lock.
Turn off lights once you leave a room and AC/fan once you leave the apartment to conserve electricity.
No smoking in the apartment or the building.
No pets in the apartment or building.
Bedding and a towel is provided. Guests are encouraged to bring their own toiletries; however, those amenities are available upon request.
If you choose to use the kitchen, please clean after yourself.
Please refill the water filter with tap water after each use. The filter part is always supposed to be submerged in water according to its directions.
Please put the toilet seat down after each use. I know this is a stereotype but stereotypes have to come from somewhere :P
Do not host additional guests or bring friends back or have gatherings/parties/etc. If we receive noise complaints from the neighbours, please know that I will call AirBnB and I will have to ask you to leave without a refund. Refrain from any activity that would cause a lot of noise.
Finally, please remember that this is our normal residence. Treat it like you would want us to treat your home.
Thank you and we look forward to having you over!

Tam's place was everything I needed for a short stay in NYC. Her place was clean and safe, and she was very helpful with any needs. I appreciated her easy to follow instructions for getting to her building and for nyc tips in general. Thanks, Tam!
My first AirBnB turned out to be amazing with wonderful host. Well-prepared, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, and very convenient location.
Everything was amazing. The apartment is well located, steps from the subway station and walking distance to some important sites, such as the Empire State Building, Penn Station, Macy's and Time Square. Tam was out of town but she left everything set for me and was always checking to see if everything was ok.

Hi I'm Tam (and yes that is my full name). I am from Texas but am currently living in New York. I also love love love Airbnb. I've been able to meet so many great guests since I started hosting and as cheesy as it sounds, I feel like it's really changed my life :)
OTHER THINGS I LOVE:
-Collecting foreign coins
-Injera, baguettes, sourdough bread
-Les Miserables: the musical, the 2012 movie, the book
-Yoga in the morning and kickboxing at night
-Walking- I try to walk everywhere if it's under 2 miles
STYLE OF HOSTING:
Because I am quite an independent and semi-experienced traveler, I like to leave people to their own devices. But of course I am more than happy to offer a suggestion, or two, or fifteen.
