90 year old bungalow with a straw bale addition. 200 feet from the B-Line Trail. Bicycles available for guest use. 10 minute walk to downtown Bloomington. Close to restaurants, bars, organic groceries, Kroger, music venues, and performance venues.

Neighborhood is mixed with a variety of families, grad students, artists, and older people who used to work in the television factory. Public transit within one block of house.

We are building a wood-fired bread oven micro bakery in the backyard. We serve the country style artisan bread at our dinners. We have frequent dinners at the 14' kitchen table with friends and neighbors if you want to get to know and partake in local cuisine.. We focus on rustic Italian cuisine with bread, pasta, roasted veggies, salads, etc. And a bit of wine of course.

We love people from all over the world, especially artists, classical musicians, opera singers.

  • Keith was a very accommodating and gracious host. Enjoyed talking to him about his strawbale home and his plans to build a brick oven to bake his delicious bread.

  • The house was adorable, the shared kitchen AMAZING, the host just lovely, the whole stay was a delight. And oh, that bread! Don't even get me started... Would wholeheartedly recommend staying here any chance you get!

  • Enjoyed our stay. Very comfortable space for our family of three. Host was pleasant and welcoming but respectful of privacy. Good location especially for the multi use walking/biking trail. Easy and short drive (or bike) to shops, restaurants, IU campus. Very reasonably priced.

  • First time trying Airbnb, nice surprise! Great location. Interesting home. Will plan to go back!

  • What an amazing experience! We spent a brilliant few days at Keith's lovely artistic home. It was like having our own apartment, with the added joy of sharing the joyous kitchen. The two bedrooms - yes two - with comfortable beds and ensuite nestled between them, were very relaxing. We were in Bloomington visiting our daughter, and she was made very welcome too. Keith and Judi invited us to join them for dinner, where we met their lovely neighbours. I could go on and on about Keith's place. If you've an artistic bent and like interesting places and people, and great conversation, you'll love this beautiful home. Thank you Keith, so glad I found you on airbnb.

  • I and my family had a wonderful time at the Strawbale Bungalow, and I hope to stay there my next work trip to Bloomington. Keith and Judy were wonderful hosts -- kind, considerate, and extraordinarily calm. The bed was very comfortable, and everything was easy to use. The rooms were immaculate, and it was so beautiful seeing art (in glass, textile, clay, and other forms) everywhere you looked. The bread was phenomenal, and I sadly finished my last piece this morning with breakfast (yes, Keith baked an extra loaf for us to take home).

  • Keith has done an amazing job with this house: it is really charming, and furnitures show great taste. My room was really beautiful, and the bathroom was kept spotless.
There is something special in this house's atmosphere, and in people who live there. I particularly enjoyed talking to Judy and Keith at breakfast, and meeting some of their friends after dinner. Keith is an extremely discreet and tactful host, and I would love to get back to him if I were in Bloomington again.

  • Keith could not have been a better host. He's very friendly, and had me join him and his friends for a great dinner. I love the house too. He's an artist, and there are plenty of aesthetic things to enjoy inside and outside the house. If I'm ever back in Bloomington, I will definitely be staying at his house again.

  • I really liked the house, the host and the homemade bread at breakfast. The location is very close to downtown and it is quiet and peaceful. Maybe the only complaint is the beds are maybe too comfortable, which encouraged extra sleep.

About
I am a textile and banner artist, art professor and baker. My house is a 1920s bungalow with a straw bale addition and a huge kitchen. The house is located 1/2 block from the B-Line pedestrian and bicycle path. I teach drawing and art appreciation at a local community college. I am starting a micro-bakery in my back yard and I bake artisan style naturally leavened bread. I love traveling to Rome, especially Trastevere and the American Academy. I lead an art parade for the Lotus World Music and Arts Festival in September and create a huge party for the Pride Film Festival in January. We have between 2 and 4 dinners with amazing Italian and creative food with friends, neighbors and roommates. I am passionate about Dutch bicycles, bread, pasta, urban design, community and beauty. Staying here you will have your own bath and sitting area along with the bedroom(s) in the bungalow part of the house. You will be invited to dinner with neighbors and given a loaf of fresh bread. My favorite style of traveling is to stay in a house with my private area but with easy access to meals and conversation.
