Description

The space

FIRST AND FOREMOST, WE SPECIALIZE IN GUESTS WHO WILL BE STAYING FOR A MONTH OR MORE.

EXCEPTIONS CAN BE MADE IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES. AND WE WILL, OF COURSE, RESPOND TO ALL INQUIRIES.

NONETHELESS, IT IS BEST TO CONTACT OUR FRIENDS RON AND RENEE FOR ANY PROSPECTIVE BOOKING OF LESS THAN 30 DAYS. THEY HOST GUESTS IN THEIR LOVELY PACIFIC HEIGHTS HOME. (The listing is: "Pacific Heights, 2 rooms & parking!")

Our listing, "One Block," is a private apartment on the ground floor of a charming Victorian-style cottage, just a block from Golden Gate Park.

Walking distance to all of the park's major attractions, including the California Academy of Sciences, Steinhart Aquarium, De Young Art Museum, Japanese Tea Gardens, and Conservatory of Flowers. Dozens of wonderful ethnic restaurants are just a few blocks away: Thai, Burmese, Russian, Turkish, Vietnamese, and more! Grocery store and bike rental shop within two blocks. Close to USF and UCSF. Several public transit routes are nearby for easy access to the whole city.

Bedroom has a queen bed, and the living room has a sleeper futon, making the apartment perfect for a couple or small family. Fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, and small breakfast table. One bathroom (tub and shower), washer and dryer. Huge plasma TV with cable, and WiFi. All linens are provided (sheets, towels, blankets, etc.)

The inner Richmond is a charming and diverse neighborhood, known for great Asian food. There are bars on Clement St. and Geary Blvd., but it is generally quiet at night. A great place to relax after a busy day seeing the city! Nearby neighborhoods such as the lower Haight, have active nightlife. You can easily walk or take public transit to and from the apartment in the evening.

We live in the upstairs flat and have been in San Francisco since 1966. We have raised two children in the city, and are happy to help you find your way around. If you want to experience San Francisco like a local, this is the place for you! Nearby restaurants are affordable and family-friendly. Having breakfast and coffee in our apartment, and getting basics at the grocery store, will make your trip easier and more affordable.

Parking anywhere in San Francisco can be difficult, but it is better in our neighborhood than in most. We recommend against renting a car, as you do not need one within the city. However if you do rent a car, you can usually find free street parking within a reasonable distance around our house.

We are kid-friendly, and this is a great location for children-- centrally located and convenient, but quiet at night. A new Pack'n'Play (meets new 2012 safety standards) is available, as well as a comfortable tatami foam mat for an extra person. Pets are negotiable.

There is a small fenced backyard, accessible from the back door in the kitchen. It is not particularly fancy, but some guests have found it very nice to have a place where small children can go outside without traffic concerns.

If you have questions, please feel free to ask. We look forward to your visit!

David was a wonderful host. He was very helpful and approachable. The location is perfect. In walking distance from stores, food, Golden Gate park, and many other things. The street is cute and quiet. The rental is well kept and well stocked with dishes, sheets, pillows, books, etc. This rental is definitely a hidden gem! I highly recommend it.

Dave is an awesome host, making us feel welcome even before we arrived through excellent communication by email and text messages. The one bedroom apartment is not real large but roomier than a hotel suite. The apt is very well equipped, especially the kitchen. It has just about everything you would want and even a lot of extras - garbage disposal, dishwasher, every type of utensils, spices, napkins, dish towels, and other essentials. The new front-load washer and dryer in the bathroom came in handy, something I didn't expect would be so welcome in our 3-week plus stay. Being so close, we got quite familiar with Golden Gate Park and logged a few miles just walking through it for the scenery and exercise. It felt almost indulgent to be able to walk to so many good restaurants and little eateries, many just a block away. Parking can seem to be a bit of a hassle if you are not used to a large city, but I somehow always found a parking spot within a block. Be aware that in most streets (except for the street that the apartment is on) there is a two hour limit during the day for non-residents, so you may need to re-park often. We had a great extended stay and highly recommend David's place.

David's place was awesome. It was perfect for my family (me, wife, and 2 little kids). There was a pack and play, futon, and extra sleeping mat which allowed the kids to sleep comfortably. David and his wife are super kind and helpful and their communication is perfect. The location was also as good as you could hope for in San Francisco. Our experience could not have been any better.

We stayed at David's plays for 3 months. The place was very nice and exactly as described. The size of the apartment was perfect for the 3 of us (me, my wife and our 6 month old daughter). The kitchen and bathroom were equipped with everything we needed. Especially the dishwasher and the new washer and dryer were great to have. Cleaning of the apartment was conveniently done once a week by a lovely housekeeper, which made our stay even more comfortable and we had more time explore SF. The neighbourhood is very save. There are a few great restaurants just around the corner and the wonderful golden gate park is just around the corner. I biked every day to the UCSF mission bay campus at the other end of town and it only took me 30-35 min, staying on official an save bike lanes all the time. David was very friendly and helpful and he was absolutely respecting our privacy. We had a great time and we definitely recommend the apartment for longer stays in SF, especially with babies/children.

What an ideal situation! Dave is an awesome guy - he made us feel more than welcome, was available when/if we needed him, but respected our privacy as well. He is so nice! The apartment is great - not only is it larger than it appears in the pictures, it is so tastefully decorated and so thoroughly equipped - this is a real home away from home. The kitchen is small but has just about everything you need in terms of utensils, pots/pans, appliances, and spices. Safeway is a 3 minute walk away, and the more upscale Arguello Market a 5 minute walk. The location is terrific - 20 minute walk to the DeYoung Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, Academy of Sciences, Children's Playground, and all the other trails and gardens and lakes of Golden Gate Park. The street itself is residential and quiet, but you have your choice of cuisine all, quite literally, within a block or two - Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Russian, Italian, burgers...and that's just a two-block stretch of Balboa. Geary and Clement hold much, much more. Parking can be tricky, but the bus system is great - the 5, 21, 31, and 44 all stop within a block or two of the apartment, and the 1, 2, and 38 within 5 or 6 blocks - we didn't bother with a car. With hosts this amazing, an apartment this charming and delightful, this will always be my first choice in SF.

My wife and I came to San Francisco in 1966, and have been here ever since. I am a "retired" journalist and avid cyclist. She was a long-time civil servant. We have raised two children in the city and now have grandchildren who come to visit. We are happy to help you discover San Francisco.

Our house was built in 1907, and we have owned it for roughly 30 years. We live in the upstairs flat. We enjoy having the downstairs apartment available for friends, family, and Airbnb travelers.

Our neighborhood is centrally located and convenient, but also quiet and safe. This is a great place to stay, especially with children.
