I booked with Carla because of the very positive reviews from others. I was not disappointed. Carla was absolutely terrific. She was friendly, helpful and very concerned that I enjoyed my stay. The accommodations were good for the price. I highly recommend her to anyone considering a visit to Guatemala.
My cousin and I did spend one night at Carla's really nice home
She picked us up at the airport and on the way home she drove with us through Guatemala City and showed us the most interesting sights
The next day she helped us to organize things (cash machines, shops..) and even drove us to the bus terminal
It was really great having her as host and we would definitely come back and highly recommend everybody to enjoy the great hospitality at Carla's place
My sister and I stayed with Carla on our last night of a 9-day Guatemalan exploration. We arrived tired and dirty from a 3-hour shuttle ride, and emotionally worn out after days of trying to communicate in our (not very good) Spanish. Carla's home was a refuge. Our room was clean, private, and comfortable, and Carla was a fantastic, gracious host. Her English was excellent (way better than our Spanish). She gave us a tour of Guatemala City, offered plenty of privacy for us to rest, and provided a huge, tasty, and authentic breakfast the next morning. She answered our many, many questions about Guatemalan culture and history, and even took us to the airport the next morning. If I ever come back through Guate, this will be my home base.
An incredible place to stay!! Carla is quite an excellent host. She picked me up from the airport, took me all around the city and antigua, made some wonderful meals and taught me spanish. I spoke 5 words of Spanish and now i know 50! Carla made sure I was comfortable in her environment, gave me her do´s and dont´s for the country and even introduced me to her family.
The house is wonderful and spacious. In the heart of the city. The rooms are comfortable and private. It is very clean and hygenic and I liked staying here.
I 100% recommend this place to anyone coming into guate city. This can be an excellent starting point for your guatemalan travels. I used this as a base and went all around the country, even occasionally calling carla to get some advice. For me this is was an excellent choice!
Carla is a great host. Her home is on a quiet residential street in a very safe neighborhood. I am a female runner was able to go for long runs of 10km or more on quite streets feeling very safe and comfortable. I arrived on Christmas Eve, Carla and her family made me feel welcome and included me in the family festivities. Carla was also helpful in telling me where I could catch the local public buses to my next destination. My stay at her home was a great start to my Guatemala trip.
