"The Fortress" is a perfect getaway no matter what the season. During the summer, cooler mountain temps provide an oasis from the heat. In the fall the colors change and it continues to be a great base camp for outdoor adventurers. It's a spectacular winter wonderland and always a great place to bring the family for holidays as well as special occasions.
It has the best views in the area, some say anywhere, and you don't even have to go outside to see them. Do you see a less expensive place offering the same views from the great room or even from a back deck? Don't waste your hard earned money on a place that has great views for squirrels and birds but not guests. Many places misrepresent their views. The Fortress is the real deal!

This ultimate mountain getaway sits high atop a hill on the western slope of Pike's Peak, providing unobstructed views of the magnificent Sangre de Cristos mountain range. And you can even see the visitor center atop Pikes Peak looking east from the deck.
Only a scenic 2 hour drive from Denver (1 from Colorado Springs). This mountain chalet style home consists of 2180 SF on 3 levels with floor to ceiling south facing windows, providing amazing lighting of the views during sunsets. Great room features ample seating , electric simulated fireplace, dining area and modern, fully stocked kitchen + 2 full bathrooms.
The Fortress includes all the comforts of home, including WiFi. There's an HD flat panel TV in the great room and 55" HD TV with a soundbar in the lower level rec room both offering Youtube TV. There is also a TV in the loft master. Guests are welcome to use their own accounts for other streaming apps. The large loft bedroom has a comfy king bed with full bathroom/shower and a walk in closet. Two bedrooms on the main level each offer queen beds and share a full bath.
A self-inflating queen mattress for anywhere inside the house is available and up to 3 cot style memory foam twin beds, all with bedding provided are available to groups of 5 or more for use on the lower level.
Lower level family room with direct access to spacious walk-out concrete patio and large hot tub/spa. Send the kids down here for their own big screen HDTV and a small pool table and foosball.
The wrap around 600 sq ft deck includes gas barbecue and comfortable options for dining or just sitting and taking in the view. Tastefully decorated throughout, carpet, tile and hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings. Very romantic get away for two or perfect for a family reunion of up to 8.
Short drives to golf, rafting, great hiking and many great attractions like the Pikes Peak Highway, Royal Gorge Bridge, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Cave of the Winds, wildlife sanctuaries, and of course the center of Cripple Creek is only 7 miles away. Guides to all attractions available on property and booked guests receive info on whatever they request and expert suggestions.

Then entire house is available to guests with the exception of a supply closet and storage area on the lower level.
Other things to note
The property is located at approximately 9000 feet above sea level. If you have a sensitivity to high altitude or respiratory issues, this is not the place for you. The last 2 miles to the property are on well maintained dirt roads, during the time of year when snow is possible (Nov - April), a 4 wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended. The public roads are regularly plowed as needed. I have a snow removal service in place for the parking areas immediately adjacent as well as the private access drive. Please note there are no refunds due to weather or travel issues outside of the stated cancellation policy.
