The Space

This is a bright and sunny single bedroom suite on the 3rd floor of my large family home in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. (Note Old Greenwich is an area of Greenwich with its own separate train station.)

The room has twin bed with trundle, a sitting area and a separate writing desk by the window overlooking the front garden. There is cable TV and high-speed Wi-Fi.

The bathroom has a deep tub and shower. When the other room on the floor is occupied, you may be sharing the bathroom. The washer/dryer is reserved for guests staying 3 days or more.

Price includes $10 cleaning fee.

On the second floor there is a small table where two people can eat, read or have their morning coffee and look out over the front garden.

It is a very short walk from the house to the train to New York City, Greenwich and Stamford.

Downtown Old Greenwich is one block away with charming shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, a post office and a supermarket. A bike is available for riding to the beach 1 mile from the house. Entering the beach sometimes requires a $5 guest pass obtainable from the community center nearby.

This is a wonderful place to stay while visiting the New York metropolitan area or southern New England.

There is street parking but a car is not essential. Morning coffee and tea are available but meals are not included. You are welcome to prepare simple meals in our kitchen.

Note to allergy sufferers; our home has a dog. To preserve the peace with our canine we do not accept pets as visitors. Please do not ask. We do not accommodate smokers.

Check In
  • As a return visitor to Christine's house, I knew what to expect. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. And there's easy access to a kettle for a late night cup of tea. I've stayed here twice now while in town for work and will definitely be back again.

  • I have stayed here multiple times. The rooms are impeccable, Jim and Christine couldn't be nicer. You are also walking distance to get to town with all the essentials, pizza, chinese food, bagels, deli ,cvs, and upscale supermarket. Nice quiet neighborhood. Old Greenwich looks like a great place to explore, which I wasn't able to do during the winter. Highly recommend this home.

  • A friend and I stayed here for a few weeks because we were interning in Stamford. Christine and her husband Jim were great hosts who made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. The house is beautiful, clean, spacious, and they made it feel like a "home away from home" with access to the living room, kitchen, and washer/dryer. The house is a short 5 minute drive from Greenwich Point Park where there's a beach. It's perfect to walk around on a nice day. The area is very safe, and the house is a couple blocks away from the metro station where we would take the train into NYC sometimes. I would definitely come back again if I am ever in the area.

  • I had a wonderful week at Christine's home in Greenwich. It is an easy walk to the village and train, and also close to the shore with a public park on the water. Very clean and quiet. Highly recommended!

  • Christine was a very courteous and considerate hostess. I came in later than I expected but she was very accommodating and it made for a smooth transition. The facilities were quite comfortable, with the bedroom having its own little tv, which I appreciated.

I am a writer, blogger and a published author of aviation-related books, a married woman in her mid fifties. I have four grown children. I live in Connecticut and travel about 6 months out of the year for work, usually on my own. My first time using airbandb was in Abu Dhabi in 2011. It was a great experience. Since then I've used airbnb about 40 times as a guest all over the world. I enjoyed it so much that in 2012 I became an airbnb host at my home in a New York city suburb and also at 2 Berkshire Mountain vacation properties in Litchfield County, Connecticut. When people "get it" that this is a home stay, not a hotel, the experience can be fantastic. I have met some amazing people and stayed in some amazing homes. I am airbnb's biggest fan.
