The place was very spacious and had a great layout. Nice to have screened doors assess the lanai if from the kitchen, great room and bedroom. The location was at the 4 1/2 mile point from downtown Kona and just a block away from the main ocean front drive. It was different from our other Airbnb places in that Bill charged us separately for taxes and had a list of requirements to avoid extra housekeeping charges (usually included in the upfront fee). We're pretty respectful of other peoples places so not a problem.
Thought we were staying in the -apt-. Ended up in the -big house- upstairs. Must have been quite elegant in it's day, but needs some updates. Ironing board was dirty and ripped. Iron needs to be replaced. Towels are quite old. House itself is in good location with a great deck all across the back with a view of the water. Pool was dirty, although someone did take the large leaves out. We did not swim in it. We were told that the water was very cool.
The owner's (not the property manager), had hired a contractor to do some much needed carpentry work on the pool area fence.
One morning the saw woke us up at 730a. We had not been informed of the pending construction during our stay prior to our arrival.
The house is quite large and spread out. We never did see the
-apt- below, but was told that the house was "much nicer than
the apt". All the rooms are quite large. The kitchen is fully stocked
with dishes and pots and pans. Some items needed to be replaced.
Overall, for the price, it was a nice place. Would have been nice
to be able to swim in the pool without the construction going
on. The contractor was quite nice, and waited until we left to
start on the upper deck area.
We did enjoy our breakfast on the covered deck with the
view of the ocean and the trees and birds, etc
