Just beautiful and the perfect location if you want to check out the Southcoast of Iceland. Everything (Golden Circle, Reykjavík, Blue Lagoon, Kevlavik Airport, etc.) is maximum 1h by car which is great. It's very quiet in and arround the house and we did really enjoy our stay. Recomendation!

Lovely house located in a quiet location about 15 minutes driving from Selfoss. This puts most sights and activities in drivable distance. Bonus is having a hot tub to relax in in the evenings.

Our stay in Guđmundur's and Disa's cosy cabin was absolutely great. My husband and me totally enjoyed the peaceful and quiet surroundings with the stunning view from the breakfast place, the hot tub outside, the fireplace, the comfortable bed, a delicious barbecue outside on the porch and of course the great massage shower :-) We were even lucky to see the aurora from the house (not much light pollution in the area). Guđmundur is a very nice and welcoming host, he showed us around and explained everything we needed to know about the cabin and we had a nice little chat, too. We were really sad to say goodbye to Iceland and our stay in the cabin was one big reason we had such a good time... Thank you for hosting us!

It was our second time at the cosy summer house of Disa and her family. We enjoyed it in winter as much as we did in summer. We enjoyed long dark hours in the morning and the sunrise at 11:00 o,'clock. In the evening we sat by the fireplace or used the hot tube. It's a great experience to walk the few steps to the tube in the snow. The days are not very long in January but long enough to reach places worth to see in the south of Iceland (Thingvellir, Gullfoss, Geysir, Skogafoss, Seljandsfoss,...) and also for a trip to Reykjavík. Disa was very attentive and quickly replied to our emails and her dad was very nice to talk to on the phone.

My wife and I stayed here for about a week for our honeymoon. It was awesome; I can't recommend this place highly enough. The house was a real pleasure to stay in. The whole front of the house is basically a window and gives a beautiful view. We cooked almost all of our meals in the kitchen - it's well stocked with cooking tools and basics (salt, spices, etc). Disa and Gudmundur were great hosts, friendly and available. They even shared some garden-fresh potatoes with us. The first night we were there, we saw the Northern Lights (although I hear we were lucky) from the hot tub. The whole place has a great summer-house feel to it - small and cosy, but well designed. No wifi at the house but it wasn't a bother. 10/10 would stay here again.

Disa kindly answered some questions for us via email before we arrived and pointed us in the right direction of supermarkets. The cabin itself is in a beautiful location at the bottom of Burfell, really near the Golden Circle. It is warm and cosy and the kitchen is well stocked. The hot tub is wonderful and the log fire was comforting after a long day. Thoroughly recommended as a wonderful base to explore this astoundingly beautiful country!

Disa User ProfileDisa is a superhost.

I work in renewable energy and my main interests are the outdoors, hiking, climbing and skiing.
When I travel I like having a little place to call my own, somewhere I can cook up a quick meal or just relax, this is how I got to know the airbnb community and I haven´t looked back since.
