Luxury self-contained apartment in the heart of Carlton, 20metres from Lygon Street, tram stop, tourist bus stop, restaurants, coffee bars, the Nova cinema, Readings bookshop and a host of other interesting shops and entertainment.
The independent apartment is in an original Victorian house with an interesting past including as a school house, the setting for the film “The Club” and home to students from the nearby University of Melbourne. Recently renovated, it consists of 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other smaller room with twin beds. Both have bathrooms adjacent to the rooms on the same level, one with a spa bath. The queen bedroom has an independent sitting/reading corner, bar fridge and tea-making facilities.
On the ground floor, a spacious sitting/dining area is set aside for guests with TV, piano, dining space for 4 and access to broadband internet.
At the end of the passageway is a kitchenette with stove, oven, sink and bar fridge.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the passing parade of cosmopolitan Carlton and the small cottage garden from the charming Victorian front verandah.
The owners occupy the back section of the house and are on hand to welcome guests and provide them with information on the area.

We enjoyed our time at La Villetta. The house is beautifully decorated with a lovely ecclectic and international style. It is wonderfully situated within walking distance of our favourite cinema and cafes. Andrea and Enzo was warm and helpful hosts. Alla prossima volta.
THe place was great, real rustic victorian charm. Andrea was extremely helpful and welcoming, great area too with many small cafes around and cose proximity to Lygon St. Was a very pleasant stay!
Thank you Andrea for being an amazing host and allowing my parents and I to stay at your beautfiul home.
Andrea is always quick to reply and willing to help. The villa is very clean. Lovely to have space upstairs / downstairs and x2 bathrooms. High quality linen / bedding. Overall a fantastic experience that I would love to share with friends / family travelling to Melbourne.
La Villetta is an amazing two bedroom two bathroom Victorian house. Andrea is the perfect hostess. So gracious and full of information about the area. The linens are all of the highest quality and Andrea has everything available to make your stay perfect. The location is awesome, near the tram that takes you to the CBD. The house is also close to the visitos tram and hop on hop off bus. The Carlton district ,where the house is located, is near amazing shops and restaurants. We took a day trip to the twelve apostles with " a Tour with a Difference". They picked us up at La Villetta which was amazing. We highly recommend. Thanks so much Andrea and Enzo. La Villetta is a true gem!!
Andrea was a lovely host and the apartment is very conveniently located. Unfortunately I don't think it was the best choice for staying with our toddler. The photos don't quite show that the staircase splits at the top, and really has no way of blocking access to it, making it quite difficult for a small child.
I'm also noting here that the furniture contains duck down as many people here, like my husband, are allergic. So he spent the week wheezing. There was also a lot of street noise from the main bedroom at night and the wifi worked only intermittently.
So if you're childfree, allergy free, a heavy sleeper, and don't need internet, this place is great. Sadly, it was not our best stay.
Thanks for staying at our Airbnb. Yes to the stairs. We always try to make that very clear that the stairs are steep and unsuitable for small children. It's a pity you didn't contact me early on Sharon as we have a gate for the top part of the stairs that may have put you a little more at ease. The unfortunate allergy problem was the first ever complaint about the duck feathers in the cushions. Generally our guests have loved the softness of them but I can imagine how awful it must have been for Jim. Regarding the internet on Friday, the whole of Carlton was off the radar for 24 hours. We were on the phone to our provider about that several times during the day but had to sit it out till they fixed the problem. Yes, the noise can be annoying but the flip side is that we are on the fringe of a very lively cafe precint which is generally appreciated greatly by our guests. As you said, probably not the ideal spot for a family with young children and we will be mindful of that in the future. Best wishes from us.
Andrea's place is ideally located close to tram and bus stops just off the main drag in Carlton, and an easy wander into the city.
Supermarkets, great food and a laundromat are close by and cabs are easy to flag. We took Andrea's recommendations for gnocchi at Gemma's Italian close by and happily explored the nearby bakeries and eateries - it's at the non-touristy end of Carlton and there are many excellent and affordable places to try.
A couple and 2 friends stayed for almost 3 weeks and it was perfect - affordable, cosy, warm, strong wifi, comfortable pillows, great water pressure and a cosy but practical kitchen! All the essentials.
Andrea and Enzo were helpful but unobtrusive and very amenable. A highly recommended home away from home.
La Villetta provided everything we needed. It was very comfortable, clean and in a great location very close to the Lygon Street shopping and restaurant precinct in Carlton. Also very close to the tram stops. The arrival arrangements with the host were very smooth.
La Villetta is a lovely property of great charm, full of original features and character. Andrea has put a lot of thought into ensuring her guests have everything could need. It's in a great position, close to Lygon Street and many restaurants and trams into Melbourne centre. My husband and I and my elder son and his wife stayed at the house while we attended a family wedding and it could not have suited us more. Why stay at a boutique hotel when you can stay at La Villette? We would cetainly recommend this property and hope to use it again when visiting Melbourne.
Andrea was there if we needed any help and she was very friendly, but, we were more than happy to "do our own thing".
Andrea and Enzo were charming hosts and helped make our stay in Melbourne special. Our family of four, parents and two adult children enjoyed our stay. The location of La Villetta can't be beat with tram stops, restaurants and shops close by. The CBD is relatively close as is the Vic Market. I recommend La Villetta.
