Interaction with Guests
I am in Barbados from December-April. All the other months I have a reliable (and sweet ;-) house manager: Vicky, who lives next door. I am online almost everyday.
The home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and is a 5 minute walk to the nearest beach. However the best beaches are 15-20 minutes away or 5-10 minutes by car. They include:
- Bottom Bay Beach (our favorite!) - Crane Beach (among the 10 most beautiful beaches of the world) - Shark Hole (closest)- Ginger Bay - Sam Lords Castle Beach - Plus a few more secret beaches, which we're happy to share with you!
We have a map upon request, which highlights the best places to see. There is a small "Variety Store" that has the basic groceries. Large and very well equipped Emerald City Supermarket is at Six Roads, 10 min drive. Car is handy, but not necessary. Bus stop is only 2 min walk and the fare is $1.-. Airport is only 15 minutes away , 30 min to Oistins Fish Market or the night life area: St. Lawrence Gap
Other Things to Note
Tap water is not only safe to drink, but its also delicious. One of the best in this world. Electricity 110V.

I just went to Teta house for 9 days and we were a group of 6 people. The house was perfect for us and we had the chance to cook our own meals since the kitchen was fully equipped. The house is located on the east side of the island so I would definitely recommend the place for people who don’t want to be on the crowded side of Barbados. The area near the house is a quiet neighbourhood so you can relax and breathe the fresh air!
We didn’t have the chance to meet Jana but she has been available for any questions before and during our stay. She has been very very helpful and I would for sure stay in her house again!
Thanks a lot Jana!!
We, three cousins, recently spent four weeks at Jana’s beautiful ocean view home in Barbados and on our last day, we wished we had booked an even longer vacation. It was difficult to leave our little paradise.
Jana proved to be a great help answering all our questions prior to our arrival, and once we arrived she became a great friend. The warm welcome of a shared meal with wine and instant camaraderie on the night we arrived was just the start of Jana’s generosity and friendship.
The house in Barbados is a joy to rent; it is well equipped, clean, and beautifully decorated. Short walking distance to several beaches. It is not uncommon to pass several hours just sitting, watching and listening to very impressive waves roll onto the beach. If you still have stress after an afternoon at one of these beaches, you should probably seek professional help.
The bus stop is a two minute walk up the road and the “to city” bus will take you all the way to Bridgetown. There is the option of hopping off at Oistins, or St. Lawrence Gap along the way. A fun and scenic ride all for the price of two Barbadian dollars.
Near the bus stop is a handy variety store where you can purchase much of what you would find at your own corner store.
Now back to our wonderful Jana. We opted out on renting a car and she was concerned that we would miss out on some of the wonderful sites of her island home. So Jana took it upon herself to drive us to these historic sites and beautiful beaches. Jana has a wealth of information on Barbados and kept us well informed and entertained on our various jaunts.
To continue our island education....we were treated to some local cuisine expertly cooked by Jana. Mmm yum, yum. Talk about being spoiled!
Jana is a fun, generous and loving person, so full of life. She makes you happy just being in her company, We will relive our memories of this amazing vacation all the while planning our next year’s vacation. Until then, we are happy in the knowledge that our new wonderful friend is only an email away; we don’t plan on losing touch.
