We are located 10 minutes from Leblon, and 15 from Ipanema. We are in a very bohemian, laid back neighborhood, a hidden gem where we have peace and calm if you want it and lots of energy and things to do only 5 minutes away! The studio has a large double bed, its own bathroom and mini bar (small fridge) plus sea views and private entrance. The WI-FI IS NOT IN THE STUDIO IT IS IN THE MAIN HOUSE. You will be completely independent from the house but welcome to pop in if you need anything including the free wi-fi (our doors are open from 9am-9pm).

A very unique experience in a beautiful setting just a 10 minute walk from Leblon and 15 from Ipanema! The studio has a fan and a cool ocean breeze almost every day. My husband and I own this house which we named KublaKhan (from the poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge) as it is a fantastic property which captures the imagination. We moved here from London a year ago where my husband worked as an artist, here in Rio he continues to paint and is very inspired by our stunning views (in fact his atelier/studio is on the top floor of the house and we both work from home so there is always someone in). The house, KublaKhan is located near all amenities, there is a chemist/pharmacy 5 minutes away (they also deliver), as well as a small supermarket just beside it with a cash point/ATM machine.
You can get a bus just outside the house a few steps down onto Avenida Niemeyer and get taxi's, van's and buses anywhere in Rio fast! The metro is in Ipanema's General Osorio street (30 min walk). Any questions on nightlife, shopping, attractions, size of bedroom etc just ask! Once here and also before you arrive I will do my utmost to answer all your questions via email/(website hidden). NO SMOKING ALLOWED IN THE STUDIO IF YOU NEED TO SMOKE PLEASE DO IT OUTSIDE THE STUDIO ON THE STEPS, THANK YOU. The free wi-fi is in the main house and available from 9am and 9pm so come up and enjoy our views as you surf the internet!
As I said, the studio is located in our home, KublaKhan a 1960's psychedelic adobe mexican/greek style mansion with unique features and a very central stunning beach front location. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Patricia was an excellent communicator and flexible. The place had great charm, I very much enjoyed myself.
I thought Patricia's beach studio looked pretty special from its listing but all my expectations were massively exceeded and I couldn't have been happier with everything about my stay there.
The studio itself is beautifully decorated with a great sea view and is an ideal base for exploring Rio. I stayed there alone - and it felt perfectly safe - but there is more than enough space for two people. It is clean and cool, thanks to a really good fan, and there is a fridge, which is very handy. The main house is just up some steps and it was fun hanging out on the terrace.
It's a great location, with Leblon beach and restaurants/shops a short walk away. Vidigal beach is just across the road and I preferred it to Leblon/Ipanema as it was less hectic. I walked most places but it is easy to pick up taxis/buses just outside the house.
Patricia and Gregory made me feel incredibly welcome, and even invited me to go along to some carnival parties with their friends, which was amazing. They have really got their finger on the pulse of what is going on in Rio so are brilliant for tips and recommendations. I had a brilliant time staying with them and am extremely grateful for their hospitality.
I booked my plane ticket down to Rio for Carnaval easily enough, but finding accommodations in the city at that time was a nightmare. Some of the prices I was quoted made me fear I'd have to cancel my trip! Fortunately I found this gem of an studio and its totally bodacious hosts and things could not have turned out better if I had spent months trip planning.
The studio's location is not quite Leblon, not quite Vidigal. It's almost directly across from the Sheraton hotel, only a 5-minute (and very scenic) walk down to Leblon beach. It's a well known road with plenty of traffic - very easy to catch a bus or taxi - and I always felt safe walking from the house to the beaches.
The studio itself is exactly like the pictures: bright and sunny with plenty of natural light. There are some amazing views of Guanabara Bay from the windows. The large fan provides great air circulation and kept things cool on warm summer nights. All of the appliances worked well and the apartment was clean. The wifi was only accessible in the upstairs common room of the house, (as mentioned in the listing description), which is a charming space with such amazing panoramic views that gluing your eyes to a computer screen there should be a crime.
Patricia and Gregory (and Master the cat) are excellent hosts who made me feel very welcome in the house and provided very good suggestions on places to eat and sights to see that you may not find in your guidebooks. They were kind enough to include me in some amazing Carnaval outings that were incredible beyond words.
A a solo traveler, you never really know what you're getting into. I am so glad I found this place. I thought I was just booking a flat, but I came away with unforgettable memories and new friends. Que Legal!
My sister and I stay at Patricia's gorgeous pink palace for 2 nights and both of us really loved our stay.
On previous trips to Rio we've stayed in Leblon and in Ipanema so we enjoyed the unique location and relative quiet of this spot. It's a short walk along the coastal path (or taxi ride) to some of Rio's best restaurants and shopping and you can't beat the view from the deck.
We got some great tips on where to eat and swim upon arrival and felt very welcome during our stay. I'd recommend this place for people staying for a weekend or longer who are looking for somewhere unique to stay.
Patricia and her husband were very accommodating and communicated with us effectively both before and during our stay in their casita. The location is fantastic and it is indeed a unique home, with fantastic views and walking distance to amazing beaches and lots of restaurants, shopping and activities. I was traveling on business and my wife was along as a tourist - the place worked perfect for us and we much preferred it over staying in overpriced hotels nearby. We felt a bit like local cariocas! Be sure to bring a printed (or digital) copy of directions to the casita to make it easy to find it the first time and communicate exact location to taxi driver, since it is on a road most taxis are not necessarily familiar with. Rio is so much fun and we would love to stay again in this casita on our next visit!
The studio was great, and the ocean views were incredible. Also very close to a pretty relaxed, small beach. Good place to stay for a couple of days, although not having wifi in the studio was sometimes inconvenient. Aside from that, would definitely be back here!
Good experience. The studio was nice and clean. A little far away from all the Rio action (Lapa and Botafogo), though well located if you are looking for something relax.

Howdy! I'm Patricia and I am 36 years old, married to Gregory Smart who is a painter, an artist and my better half for sure. We lived an exciting life back in the UK but decided to move to Rio last year to start a new life on the other side of the pond! I was a successful Publicist in London working as a Director in a top agency but we decided it was time to try Brazil, seeing as this is where I was born originally, plus we missed the sunshine. My father is a diplomat so I have lived all around the world, speak many languages and am familiar with all sorts of cultures, I lived mainly (most of my time) in New York and London. I love people and I love food and cooking. I am also a lover of music, film and art. Our house is the result of a lot of blood sweat and tears and now we get to share it with amazing people from all over the world. Our house is very unique, for one thing its bright pink, its in front of the ocean and it once had a famous, iconic legend living in it...Elis Regina the Brazilian singer who in the 70's lived in this very house on this very street - when they called this area "Rio de Janeiro's Riviera". There were casino's, restaurants, bars and huge houses lining these bucolic streets. Now in its present reincarnation it is a house on a quiet street full of wonderful, creative neighbours in a most wonderful little community full of love, peace, culture and nature.
