Our home, 'Wedge House' was designed by leading Australian architect Peter Stutchbury.
Soaring high above the ocean on the southern headland of Whale Beach, the house enjoys a north easterly aspect with spectacular ocean views and plenty of sunshine in the winter months.
Surrounded by trees and exquisitely connected to nature, you can watch the sun rise over the ocean as you wake. Walk 400m down to the beach for an early swim or a surf (the Wedge being a legendary surf break) or enjoy a yoga class at one of the many yoga studios at Palm Beach or nearby Avalon.
And as the full moon rises out of the ocean, you can watch it from your private retreat with a drink in your hand. Let the ocean soothe you to sleep.
Waking with the birds (kookaburras, cockatoos, lorikeets, king parrots, currawongs and magpies), you can walk to Palm Beach lighthouse or Barrenjoey headland, swim, surf "Whaley" (or Avalon and Palm Beach which are a 5 min drive away).
Hire a "tinnie" (small aluminium boat), to explore secluded beaches on the Pittwater, take a stand up paddle board lesson on the Pittwater or Palm Beach where the dolphins might join you or go snorkelling, skin diving or fishing.
Dine at the fabulous Boathouse Restaurant, enjoy sundowners and fish and chips at Barrenjoey House or simply just escape and explore nature's secluded paradise.
Come and stay in winter or spring and you will see the whales as they migrate past our coast. Some nights you might wake to the sound of them breaching, slapping their flukes or breathing through their blowholes!
A bookshelf full of books and Surfers Journal magazines, free ADSL wifi and DVD's if you really want to bring your computer.
Street parking is available right outside our house and the bus stop is a 15 min stroll away. Or, for a unique experience, catch the seaplane from the city and I'll fetch you from Palm Beach!
We are in a great location if you are attending a wedding or a party in the area. We are a mere 500m from Moby Dicks and Ripples, 1.5km from Jonah's and 3.5km from The Boathouse and Dunes Restaurants!
My quoted rate is for 1 or 2 people sharing the Ocean View Whale room (main pic); however, if there are additional (1 or 2) guests and you would like to rent the Garden View Dolphin Room, there is an additional per-person charge.

We absolutely loved our mini break at the Whale Beach Ocean Retreat. The retreat is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We loved the separate living area, the bedroom that opened up onto a beautiful private courtyard and the fact that we could see the ocean. Kim had left us teas and breakfast to enjoy (which was a lovely surprise!) and a very helpful list of local cafes and restaurants. We felt very welcome and very privileged to stay in such a beautiful B&B only a stones throw away from Whale Beach and Palm Beach. We can't wait to come back and visit when it's a little warmer!
It was lovely to be greeted by Kim on arrival. The retreat was warm and inviting with a beautiful view. We woke in the morning to the sound of kookaburras, it was magical. With a short walk to Whale Beach, we had a very enjoyable stay.
Beautiful property, lovely styling and so much space. Kim did an excellent job in providing luxurious accommodation and plenty of food and beverages. The view of the beach was also amazing and such a relaxing place!
Firstly our host - Kim - was lovely. Greeted us when we arrived, and then left us to our devices which was perfect. Secondly, and more importantly, the accommodation is amazing. It's a very private spot surrounded by trees, and with views out to the ocean. There is nothing nicer then taking a siesta while listening to the ocean. I can highly recommend this accommodation for any looking for a weekend away in the greater Sydney area.
Kim was a welcoming host and we loved the beautiful setting and the architecture of the house. Super-comfortable beds and yummy muesli and nibbles.
Kim's place at Whale Beach is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. You will not be disappointed. It has all the facilities you could want and Kim has lots of wonderful tips. She includes some yummy things which you can help yourself to for breakfast. We have stayed here twice now and it is honestly divine. Can't wait to book again!
Kim was unfortunately not well but her mom called by to check we had everything we needed. Her home is beautiful and perfect for a quiet break but near enough to everything We had a fantastic time there and would love to return will be recommending to our friends
About the Host, Kim
I love my ocean lifestyle and I love travelling too. It is a part of me that I cannot do without. Living abroad, visiting new places and meeting new people are some of my most wonderfully memorable experiences. When not travelling, my husband and I like sharing our home and the things we enjoy with fellow travellers. Our adult children are now away studying at university so we have a beautiful space to share with others. As guests you can be as private as you wish or are welcome for a chat too. We enjoy beauty, especially natural beauty,of which there is an abundance of right here on our doorstep.
