Castle Crag is perched on a hill above the little hamlet of Jenner, where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean and the views from the living room, sun room, decks and lower bedrooms is nothing short of spectacular!
Castle Crag is a place to relax from the bustle of cities and freeways, yet is still within a short driving distance to the finest experiences offered in California. On a protected hillside behind Jenner, this home offers incredible views of the river and the ocean. Excellent stargazing can be viewed from the upper deck (bring binoculars and/or telescope). A short walk to the ocean reveals resplendent wildlife including a seal rookery, blue herons, pelicans, seagulls, cormorants, sandpipers, ospreys, snowy egrets, hummingbirds, and many more.
This beach house offers 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The master bedroom features a Queen bed and en suite bathroom. The second bedroom offers a Queen bed and the third offers a Queen bed. These bedrooms share a bathroom. The fourth bedroom offers 2 Twin beds, and has a shared bathroom down the hall. If needed, a double futon is provided in the sunroom. Two decks provide space for a barbecue and a large hot tub. The main living area on the upper floor is a spacious sunny area with connecting living room, sunroom (family room) and fully equipped kitchen. All of these rooms offer incredible views of the Russian River estuary. The living room features a stone fireplace. A direct supply of firewood through a special built-in wood cupboard.
Located in the quiet and quaint village of Jenner, Castle Crag is less than two hours north of San Francisco. It has magnificent views of the river valley, estuary and river's entrance to the ocean. As the village is somewhat sheltered from ocean breezes, pleasantly warm weather is the typical climate for most of the year, with occasional sea mists. For those interested in visiting wine county, this home is only a 30 minute beautiful drive along the river to the Korbel Champagne vineyards. There are excellent restaurants all along the river and the coastline between Bodega and Jenner. Swimming, surfing and sailing are 15 minutes south at Salmon Creek and Bodega (made famous in the Hitchcock movie The Birds. Excellent hiking trails and horseback riding are only minutes away, as well as canoeing and rafting on the Russian River.

WIRELESS INTERNET: Castle Crag has a limited wireless internet service. Because of the rural location, typical services like cable and DSL are not available. Instead, Castle Crag uses Excede Internet, which works well for email, text messaging and internet browsing, but is not well-suited for streaming or other internet uses that consume large amounts of data. For a long time Castle Crag was unable to provide any internet service, so we are very pleased to offer guests this option and welcome you to use the internet during your stay.
Interaction with Guests
Guests will be sent detailed check in instructions prior to arrival. Castle Crag has a key lock box located at the home, and check in is at 4pm. The code for the lock box will be sent along with your detailed check in instructions. Our office is open until 5pm each day. We are happy to help in any way we can to make your stay more enjoyable! There is an emergency line available to guests after office hours.
Castle Crag is a 10 minute walk from the mouth of the Russian River. Also within walking distance are two of our favorites: Cafe Aquatica, a great coffee shop, and River's End, a high-end seafood restaurant.
Anywhere in the town of Jenner is walking distance from Castle Crag.

-Two night minimum October to Memorial Day Weekend (holidays have a higher night minimum)
-Three night minimum Memorial Day Weekend through late June, and September
-Four night minimum end of June through August, expect week minimum over the July 4th Holiday and the first week of August.
-Major holidays including Thanksgiving, Winter Break and President's Day may have a longer night minimum.
Reservations not adhering to these night minimums will not be accepted.
The rental rates and cleaning fee include a 9% Transient Occupancy Tax and a 2% Business Area Improvement Fee
There is a $49 non-refundable Vacation Rental Damage Protection Plan fee for all reservations, already included in the cleaning fee.
VACATION RENTAL DAMAGE PROTECTION PLAN:
In order to activate the vacation rental damage protection plan included in your rental fees, please provide your billing address, phone number, & email address in the note with your reservation. If this is an issue, please contact us before making a reservation.
The maximum number of people allowed on the property is10. Exceptions can be made for children under 3. In general, two additional day guests maybe allowed at no extra cost, as long as Russian River Vacation Homes has given guest prior written approval. This home does not have a permit for parties, large gatherings, or events.
QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.
PARKING: On-site parking is permitted for a maximum of 4 vehicles. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.
After making a booking and providing their contact information, guests will be sent a contract with our terms in detail to sign and return.
CHECK IN/CHECK OUT
Check in is at 4pm for all of our Homes. Check out for HOME NAME is 11am. Guaranteed paid Early Check ins and Check outs are sometimes possible during our off-season. Non Paid Early Check ins are occasionally a possibility if the home has been released by the inspector ahead of schedule. If you are interested in a non paid early check in, please contact our office on the morning of your arrival date to check the inspector's schedule. Non paid late check outs are very rarely available.
DOGS: This home is dog friendly, and allows up to 2 dogs. Additional dogs or pets of any other kind are not permitted. Unattended dogs must be crated.
