The space

Just off the N56, down a leafy lane, this traditional, single-storey, detached holiday cottage lies in an idyllic setting. Retaining its ‘olde worlde’ character, it lies in an ideal location for walkers, as the cottage is on the renowned Bluestack Way and for the keen fisherman, the property is about 450 yards from the Owenea river. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch the handweavers of Ardara producing the tweed for which Donegal is famous. This is also a popular area for its beautiful beaches. Visit the golden beaches and caves of Maghera and the fabulous white beaches of Narin And Portnoo. Shop, pub and restaurant 2.5 miles.
All on ground floor: Living room with tiled floor. Dining room with patio doors and wooden floor/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin with additional single. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Our stay at Barry's cottage was wonderful overall. After visiting several other very busy towns in the height of summer, the remote and quiet peaceful nature of the cottage was just what we needed. It's not a luxurious place, but simple, cute and cozy. And just a short drive to town. Having bread, milk, and butter on our arrival was a nice touch. You can watch the sheep in the nearby field, and we enjoyed seeing a rabbit who likes to eat the grass right outside the kitchen. It was cool inside, even in Late July, and having the use of the fireplace, heaters, and electric blankets made things nice and warm. We very much enjoyed our stay.

An amazing cottage in a stunning area of Donegal alot more easy to get to than many think, we drove up from Killarney at normal pace in less than 6 hours with a stop or two. Warm, cosy and magical, great log stove and great dining space, we had our 2.5 yr old and she loved it, very safe. Maghera beach nearby is amongst the most stunning beaches we have ever seen, Nancy's bar in Ardara 5 mins away in a car is just brill. Barry has a really top place here.

The Gortlusk Cottage was quaint and adorable. We arrived in the rain and cold and it took a bit of time to get the place warmed up (wood stove helped!) but we really enjoyed staying in a traditional Irish cottage. The town of Adara is quite enjoyable and we appreciated the close proximity to town without having to actually stay IN town. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would certainly come again, but maybe with a few more layers for warmth :) Barry was a great host and answered all questions prior to our arrival. We had an issue finding the key and he immediately rang to handle the situation. Hopefully we will be back.
