The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed to have a relaxing holiday. Barry was very helpful and we had a great time in Donegal.
The cottage is a 100 year old stone building situated in a nice part of Donegal with convenient access to some pleasant bog and riverside walks.
TO QUALIFY THESE COMMENTS, the cottage had not been occupied for 4 weeks previous to our stay and Barry did communicate and attempt to deal with the difficulties we encountered.
When we arrived it was apparent that there were some maintenance issues, there was an intense smell of smoke from the living room, as the main source of heat there is a solid fuel stove, and due to the smell in one of the bedrooms we concluded it had a damp problem. There were electric heaters, however some of them were out order. The electric shower only put out lukewarm water at the maximum setting.
The cleanliness of the cottage left a little to be desired, the bin was soiled, the floors hadn't been washed and the fridge had not been cleaned with residue from the previous occupants food visible.
It must be said that Barry's communication was good and he did attempt to remedy the situation, however we still cut our trip short and only stayed for two of the three days we had booked. Barry is a considerate host providing scones, milk and other basics. There was also a good selection of maps and reading material to help us enjoy the stay.
What a fantastic cottage! Loved the old fireplace and modernised kitchen. Thank you Barry for welcoming us! We'll definitely come back! :)
Not long back from a lovely weekend in Ardara with three good friends. This wee cottage was the loveliest place for the us to relax in. Even in the moody weather we were happy and cosy and the beauty of the surroundings were not compromised. We especially enjoyed the wood burner and the real rustic charm of the place. Barry was very kind and helpful in making sure we didn't get lost and knew of plenty of great places to go. There were even some freshly baked scones left on the table for us at our arrival. Just magical!

The Gortlusk Cottage was quaint and adorable. We arrived in the rain and cold and it took a bit of time to get the place warmed up (wood stove helped!) but we really enjoyed staying in a traditional Irish cottage. The town of Adara is quite enjoyable and we appreciated the close proximity to town without having to actually stay IN town. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would certainly come again, but maybe with a few more layers for warmth :) Barry was a great host and answered all questions prior to our arrival. We had an issue finding the key and he immediately rang to handle the situation. Hopefully we will be back.
Barry was very efficient with instructions and making sure we arrived ok. This is a delightful cottage. It was cold, but it was February so take warm clothes for the Donegal winter.
