About this listing
Please contact us before booking to confirm availability. We've added a 51" TV and some new furniture so it's even better now!
Come stay in our cute 1930's cottage/bungalow. Our house is located right off of South Congress, close to all of the shops, restaurants, and food trailers the area is known for. Only 2 miles south of Downtown and a 10-15 minute walk to the middle of the SoCo action. Easy bus access as well (1L)!
The house is located on a quiet and safe street in the Travis Heights neighborhood (the best in all of Austin). There is a small park and pool nearby as well as easy access to the river and the hike and bike trail.
Our modern/mid-century decorated home is open and light with wood floors throughout. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 bath with a claw foot tub! The master bedroom has a king size bed with a memory foam mattress (the best sleep I have ever had) and the second bedroom has a queen size bed. I am serious about my sleep and can guarantee that the beds and bedding will be comfy and relaxing.
We also have a sofa bed in the living room and if needed we can set up an air mattress in the office. The kitchen has everything you'll need and we also have a brand new fancy front loading washer and dryer for your use.
AND! We have a screened in porch to relax or congregate with friends. We also have: wifi, flat screen TV, DVD player, Apple TV, wii, and BBQ grill.
Dogs live here but they won't be present for your stay. We will dust and vacuum before you arrive!
Please let me know if you have any questions. Here are some of the fun things close by:
- Activities: Zilker Park, Barton Springs, Little/Stacy Pool, Lady Bird Johnson Hike & Bike Trail, South Congress Bridge Bats
- Food: Homeslice Pizza, Hopdoddy Burger Bar, Guero's Taco Bar, Perla's, South Congress Cafe and Lucy's Fried Chicken, and Torchy's Taco's, Gourdough's, Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse, Sway and Elizabeth Street Cafe on South First Street.
- Don't forget the Contential Club and plenty of shopping and vintage stores!
- Also the HEB grocery store is only a few blocks away. Or take a short trip to the Whole Foods flagship or Central Market.
No smoking indoors but we do have a screened in patio so you're safe from the elements!
Please no large or loud gatherings. We live on a quiet family-friendly street and you'll love the peace and quiet!
Please use coasters in the living room. :) (We found the matching end tables to our coffee table and the previous owner kept them in mint condition!)
Can't express enough how much we enjoyed Carol and Byrons home. Perfect location, every amenity you could ask for, perfect kitchen for cooking at home and the master bedroom has the most comfortable bed imaginable. Their home is beautiful, tastefully decorated and oh so quaint. We have found our vacation home in Austin!
We really enjoyed our stay in Austin. The house was clean, well appointed and in a great (email hidden)ose enough to walk to shops in restaurants but also in a charming and quiet neighborhood. The hosts were very accommodating and provided great tips on where to go and eat. Highly recommended!
Adorable house in a quiet neighborhood - walking distance to all the great shops and restaurants in the South Congress area and a straight shot downtown. Carol was very accommodating and gave us tons of recommendations for places to grub in Austin. Definitely recommend staying here!
We had a terrific time! The house was super clean, with the most comfortable beds ever. We loved the screened-in porch, spacious back yard, and minimalist design. Carol and Byron answered all of our questions speedily, and left us plenty of Topo Chico (a must in the rising heat!) and other treats. The location is ideal - about a 15-minute walk from the heart of the South Congress area, on a pretty, quiet street. Highly recommended!
We had such a lovely stay at Carol's cottage in SoCo. It is so clean and quiet and was such a wonderful refuge from SXSW. It is close to so many great restaurants and shops and a very pleasant and easy walk or bus into town. We all agreed that one of our favorite things about our trip was just hanging out at the Cottage.
Carol was so kind and accommodating and did everything she could to make our stay fun and comfortable. Including transforming her office into an extra room. Also some packages arrived for me after I left and she sent them to me the very next day. I will definitely stay in her place again when I come to Austin and will recommend it to anyone traveling there.
