MY HOME :
Enjoy vibrant St Kilda, and Melbourne whilst basing yourself at my stylish ( retro / mid-century modern style ),
2 storey townhouse.
My home is within easy walking distance to all that St Kilda has to offer. It is conveniently located only a block from famous St Kilda beach, cafes, bars, and shops, yet it is wonderfully quiet, as it is set well back from the noise and traffic of the street, ensuring a good night's sleep.
The area is very well connected with public transport, with a bus, train and tram stops close by. There is also a great network of bicycle tracks around the city and along the bay to explore - and free use of my bicycle!
As a guest in my home you may share my living space, or have as much privacy as you desire. I have 2 living areas both with televisions, so a certain degree of autonomy is possible, however the kitchen and bathroom are shared.
The shared bathroom has a reliable hot water supply, and is fitted with a bath tub, separate shower, and vanity unit. The toilet is separate from the bathroom.
There are 2 toilets - one downstairs and the other upstairs,
so I can offer you the private use of the upstairs toilet during your stay if you would prefer ( i.e.: I can use the toilet downstairs most of the time if you request this ).
The kitchen is due for an update, but is perfectly OK in its' present "original 1980's" state. Despite being dated, it's clean and has a dishwasher and everything you may need if you are wanting to cook, however from my experience, that is the last thing you need to do on your holiday, especially when there is a plethora of restaurants and cafes nearby to satisfy all tastes.
My home has a sunny front courtyard, and a large lush back yard for you to enjoy also.
The bedroom itself is upstairs, and is bright, quiet and comfortable, with a lovely private leafy outlook from the window. The bed is a very comfortable double mattress on a futon base. There are also 2 bedside tables, a small desk, full length mirror and ample hanging and drawer space. Suitable for a couple, or single person, the room is cosy, yet spacious enough for you and all of your luggage. A small television, and a quiet fan is also available for your use in your room.
I provide clean towels and sheets etc., and I can provide some basic toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and soap etc. just in case you forgot to pack yours.
OTHER POINTS WORTH NOTING :
- I pride myself on keeping a clean and tidy home, and hope this is respected by my guests
- I am pet friendly. Small to medium sized, clean, non-aggressive house-trained dogs are welcome, and will have a safe and secure enclosed backyard to enjoy, as well as a local dedicated "dog beach" and parks nearby. Owners are responsible for picking up their dog's droppings, at my home, and when out walking.
- I have a very cute small dog, 12 years old, with one tooth and a slightly "grumpy old man" attitude...but harmless!
- FREE basic self-serve breakfast of tea/coffee, toast
- FREE Wi Fi internet connection.
- FREE laundry facilities on site – washing machine, clothes-line and drier.
- FREE use of my mountain bike - take advantage of the great network of bike paths around Melbourne and the bay.
- FREE off-street "guest parking" for those with a car. There are 4 guest spaces that are shared with the other 5 townhouses on a “first in - first serve" basis, therefore availability is possible but not guaranteed.
- gas wall heater warms the whole house on those cold days
- Original 1950"s fans in both living areas for those hot days
- Close to St Kilda's famous Acland and Fitzroy Streets.
- Close to the city – only 20-30 min to the city by tram
- Close to the fashionable Chapel St Prahran shopping/restaurant/clubs
- I am open to people of all cultures, creeds, and I am gay friendly.
- Unfortunately my home is not really set up for young children, therefore only well-behaved children over the age of 8 years are welcome.
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF :
I am a well-travelled adventurer, and have lived and worked in Italy and Hong Kong. I am self employed, and work from home therefore I will be around during your stay. I am very interested in diverse cultures. I have a keen interest in photography, design and graphics. I speak Italian, and can manage to make myself understood with Spanish.
A LITTLE ABOUT ST KILDA :
Here are a couple of websites worth checking out :
for info about St.Kilda and
for info about Melbourne - it has a helpful month by month calendar listing all events and attractions

This accommodation exceeded our expectations in all respects. It was ideally situated as a base for exploring St Kilda and Melbourne generally. The accommodation was comfortable and furnished in an exotic style that reflected the interests of the owner Dallas. Dallas proved to be a wonderful host, looking after our every need. She was a mine of information on the local area. We were made to feel welcome throughout our stay and would definitely recommend this accommodation and host to anyone looking for accommodation that epitomises St Kilda.
We came to Melbourne from Qld., to re-locate. We had some ideas of places where we were going to live, but after staying in Dallas´s great place, it could only be St. Kilda!
Dallas was a wonderful host, and extremely patient with our grumpy rescue dog. She was a mine of information, and made us feel very welcome. The location is just fabulous - you really are a part of the vibrant atmosphere of St. Kilda, yet Dallas´s place itself is so quiet, you would think you were in the country.
We were initially attracted to Dallas´s place, because it was dog-friendly, but what a bonus it was! We never thought we could stay in such a great place with our dog!
Thanks so much Dallas! And thanks also Cosmo, the little-gentleman dog!

Dallas is an excellent host. We stayed 7 days at her 'retro pad' and it worked out great for us. It is indeed a great location, quiet and well off the busy street. Very convenient to reliable public transportation too. The #96 tram (20-25 min to CBD) starts its route less than 10 minute walk from the (website hidden). Kilda is a colorful, lively neighborhood. Close to the beach with plenty of good restaurants, funky bars and live music options every night.
The room was bright, comfortable and clean. Dallas lent us her bike for a couple of rides (Great biking in Melbourne, btw.) We enjoyed our conversations with our well-traveled host and she provided a lot of good tips and insider advice for doing Melbourne. An unexpected bonus was learning how to make enormous, joyful bubbles in the back yard. The only issue was a very slow internet. Dallas apologized and assured us that was a one-time problem. In any event, we would definitely return to St. Kilda retro pad if we're fortunate enough to visit Melbourne again.
Thanks so much for the positive review Marty. hope you have now caught up on your blog !!! and that you had a lovely xmas and new (website hidden) : the internet issue has been addressed and resolved - no problems now. apologies again for any inconvenience caused during your stay.
great place, very welcoming and comfy, great location!
We loved staying with Dallas. She is a fantastic host along with Cosmo the wonderdog. The room was large, clean and very comfortable.
Dallas has a gorgeous inner city haven, very quite and peaceful. The garden was lovely to sit in and we enjoyed great breakfasts surrounded by trees. She also has a fab herb garden.
The location is perfect, a quick walk to Acland street and it's many shops and cafes. Public transport is close by.
We would not hesitate to recommend Dallas as an airbnb host. She was warm, welcoming and we felt extremely comfortable in her groovy home. Brilliant stay, see you when we are in Melbourne next!
Dallas is wonderful!!!
We've just found a friend...The location is perfect,5 minutes walking from the beach and Acland Street, the heart of SANTA KILDA :)
The house is very big, beautiful and furnished with style.
If the weather is good you can enjoy the courtyard for breakfast or for a candle light dinner .
Cosmo Superdog will love you if you provide him some rosty chiken :).
Dallas is a very nice, funny and discrete person and she can give you advice about (website hidden) non capite un c***o di Inglese parla anche ltaliano
Grazie Dallas! Ti vogliamo bene!
We went to Melbourne without any plan. It was a quick decision. After we looked at the website, we booked Dallas's place because its look great and cool. When we were there, we can see the real place is not only what you see on her photos. The place is very clean. You can sleep in a quiet room even its closed to the community zone that you can walk to and enjoy your time. You can walk to the beach only 5 (website hidden).kilda is awesome. Dallas is nice and helpful host. Cosmo is cute >.ll be back again next time. :)
Stop looking ANYWHERE else in Melbourne. Don't rent a car (heavy traffic), rather take the Airport F.A.P.A.S. bus ($20) right up to Dallas' quiet, comfortable, garden pad in St Kilda Keach. It's "home" with a 4 minutes (checked it) walk to the sand and boardwalk, And it's the same to vibrant dining, dancing and "wee store" shopping on St Kilda's famous Acland Street. Walk across Barkly Rd or take the regular trams to the City Center from your end of Acland. Plus, Dallas goes the extra mile to ensure her guests' comforts. She put out a French press for my morning buzz. Easy kitchen, living room and garden access. I had a blast, so, book now.
I have stayed with Dallas before. In a nutshell her home is my "go to" place whenever I am planning a trip to Melbourne. I love here eclectic taste in furnishings and Dallas is always a pleasure to spend time with.
We visited Dallas in July and her nice and cosy town house was just an ideal shelter from the unpredictable Melbourne's weather.
The location is just perfect! Very close to the beach and St Kilda's lively atmosphere, easy to reach the CBD, but still a secure and stylish retreat with a fruitful lemon tree in the backyard!
The premises has all you need for comfort living, so you can feel at home. Moreover, Dallas has prepared useful notes for the guests, so they can easily manipulate all the appliances when she is out. Also it was very insightful of her to collect various information for guests regarding Melbourne's places to see and visit.
Dallas is a very cheerful and patient hostess, always happy to give a piece of advice. It was much easier for us to settle down with her helpful hand.
P.S. Cosmo and Max - BFF!
