Interaction with Guests
De and I are laid back social and friendly folks who live here full time and love interacting with our guests. Sometimes we are busy, tired, or out of town and don't get to hang out with our guests. In general, you will likely be interacting with us in our day to day. Inquire about our status when booking if it is important to you!
Our home sits on a quiet Historic Treeway just a short block from North Killingsworth Street in a solidly middle class North Portland. We are sandwiched between the quaint Overlook and Arbor Lodge neighborhoods and just a block or three from numerous bars and restaurants as well as a superb bottle-shop and a 24 hour convenience store. There is a New Seasons Grocery about five blocks away
We are close to the Alberta Arts District, The Historic Mississippi Neighborhood, Kenton, and St. Johns.
Access is easy to & from the I-5 freeway, and many public transit options.
There are plenty of good walks and parks close by.
The 72 bus is just one block away and will zip you off to The Alberta Arts District in minutes. The 4 and 44 are just three blocks from our door and the 35, just four blocks away gives you the fastest service to downtown Portland! Of course we are just five short blocks from the MAX Yellow Line light rail with quick service to downtown Portland, The Rose Quarter (Moda Center), The Convention Center, and the Expo Center as well as all points around the city.

De & Toby were great host! My friends and I arrived in Portland and it was easy to take public transportation to their house. They contacted us throughout the day to see if we needed a ride or any help getting to their. Once we got there they helped us get situated. They were leaving the same day to vacation so they told us where everything was in the house. The house was great! We were in a great location near bars and places to eat. De and Toby texted us to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. I would definitely stay there again!
De & Toby were wonderful hosts! They have a beautiful home in a neighborhood just a few blocks from the Yellow Line that takes you to straight to downtown. Toby was kind enough to pick us up at the airport, drove us around the neighborhoods telling us a bit about each area, and dropped us off at a delicious brunch spot. Best start of the day. The space itself is very clean, warm and bright, and both hosts were very accommodating. They have chickens in the backyard which made our experience even more enjoyable and exciting. Thanks De & Toby!
This was my first Airbnb experience, and it could not have been better. Toby and De were great with communication both in setting up our stay and while we were there. Their home is on a quiet residential street, but there are so many great restaurants and bars just blocks away. They are very well situated as a home base for someone who wants to explore all quadrants of Portland. Toby gave us a whole list of recommendations, and we wound up going to quite a few breweries and bars/restaurants he mentioned. All were great.
They are experts at making you feel welcome and at home. Guest rooms, bathroom, and common spaces were all very clean and the beds were comfy. Just a really positive experience all around.
The stay with Toby and De was great. On arrival Toby went through a whole heap of things for us to do in the neighbourhood which was really helpful.
They let us get on with our own thing, but were always available if we needed anything.
The house was charming, clean and most importantly in a great location. We could not have been better placed for great pubs, food and transport into town (the train a 5 minute walk from house and a bus at the end of the street.)
This was a perfect introduction for me to airbnb. If I'm in Portland again I'd check into this place again if available.
Toby and De were amazing hosts. The house was great and convenient to public transportation. They told us all about the area and gave some great recommendations and provided us with an amazing breakfast experience from their garden out back. We'll definitely be staying with them again next time!
We reserved Toby & De's place for some artist guests coming to town. Toby & De were super accommodating of their arrival and departure times, and made our guests feel at home.
Our guests throughly enjoyed the stay in a bright, family-friendly home in a convenient location.
From our perspective: we, a group of three young adults, booked a longer stay with Toby & De (~2wks) with the intention of relocating to Portland. With that in mind, Toby & De were absolutely, straight-up perfect. Their home is beautiful, the location is in a wonderful neighborhood AND near transit, and the price was right.
All that aside, what makes Airbnb is the human interaction - we, as a group, can't imagine better hosts, guides to Portland, or human beings. Toby & De are great! They've got the Airbnb routine down like pros but were happy to offer their insight when requested, which we gratefully appreciated. Best introduction to Portland, best Airbnb experience possible! Can't recommend them enough and we hope to stay in touch.
10/10 Would lodge again!
