About This Listing
This spacious room is located in a very quiet neighborhood in Downtown Palo Alto. (Professorville)
The room is very spacious and sweet. It features a queensize doublebed. There are several armchairs and sofas and a cheminee.
The room is in a small house with two more bedrooms and a big kitchen. The furniture in general is rather antique hence there is a great atmosphere in the house, not only because of the piano in the kitchen.
The house is very central at downtown Palo Alto and very close to Stanford campus. There is also a big garden that can be used.

Lovely and quiet neighborhood
Very convenient to walk to downtown Palo Alto, Stanford and Bart Station. Buses are available directly around the corner.
The host canceled this reservation 8 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Never did meet the host - we did meet a "housemate" who was flexible about last-minute changes in arrival time in the evening.
"Essentials" in this listing I would have assumed to include things like working lighting in the room at time of arrival, a bathmat, paper cups in the bathroom, and a room that did not require us to rearrange furniture and get junk out of the way in order to be comfortable.
Mattress was great, and the place is clean, so if you are a hacker looking for a place to crash in a nice neighborhood, you might find the place perfectly adequate.
I found the listing misleading, posted photos were staged, the sharing of a bathroom off the kitchen with no lock on the door, well, unsatisfactory.
Great host and great location (the room is 10 min walking from Stanford University).
Good basic accommodation in shared house, centrally located.
Alex was waiting for us as we arrived...just as planned. The room is a bit messy and not as nice as the listing photo represents. That said, the room itself was clean, the bed comfortable, and the house quiet. The only downer was the bathroom. It was not clean. The floor hadn't been swept or mopped in a while, and the sink was covered with grit and such from the open window. There was no curtain or shade on the bathroom window and the neighbor's windows were literally just a few feet away. We are a sixty year old couple...and are likely a bit more sensitive to bathroom cleanliness than a younger person. Even though we slept very well, and the host was a nice guy, the bathroom situation would prevent us from staying here in the future. A few minutes a day spent cleaning, and a curtain on the window would have made all the difference.
