The Space

Welcome to Austin! Situated among hike and bike trails, eateries and lakes, Mueller is a great base from which to explore the city. We're 3 miles from downtown, with easy access by car, bus or bike.

We offer a guest bedroom with private bathroom immediately outside the bedroom door. The bedroom has an antique brass bed and a mid-century low steel cabinet that functions as a night stand. We have reading lamps on either side of the bed along with a leather arm chair and floor lamp. The bed is a full-sized bed, also known as a double, which is smaller than a queen-sized bed.

Fresh coffee and gourmet treats are available in the morning. Closet space is available in guest bedroom. The bathroom is stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner and soap. A hair dryer, iron, ironing board, washer and dryer are also available to you.

If you need a second bed to accommodate a child, we can offer a second room (office converted into sleeping quarters with a 5-inch thick twin-sized mattress) for an additional fee. Contact us for details.

For nearby dining, we highly recommend visiting Contigo, which is within walking distance. Another option is to have drinks at the Salty Sow followed by dinner at East Side Cafe (both on Manor Road). Then, enjoy dancing at the White Horse Saloon on East 6th (about a mile south of East Side Cafe) or the famous Broken Spoke.

We're within walking distance of Cherrywood Coffee House [38th street], Thunderbird Coffee [Manor Road] and Elixir Coffee [a 1950's Studebaker Truck converted to a coffee stand] at the Mueller food court.

We are bicycle, runner and triathlete friendly. We are happy to provide running maps, swimming information, and road and off road cycling routes.

  • Located in the Mueller development, Elizabeth and Mark's home is an ideal place to stay while in Austin. Their home is clean, quiet and comfortable. They're very gracious hosts who provide lots of information about local events and will leave you to do your own thing. (Or even accompany you to Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop!). The morning coffee and muffins were always delicious.

  • Elizabeth and Mark were extremely hospitable guests and made me very welcome in their lovely home. I first arrived to a fresh cookie baked by Elizabeth that day- nice welcome. I was travelling on public transport/foot and relied on taxis to get me to and from the downtown although Mark very kindly dropped me off one morning.Their neighbourhood Mueller is lovely and Elizabeth printed off maps so I could explore. All in all a lovely experience- thank you!

  • This is my second time in Austin for SXSW. And it's also my second time with Mark and Elisabeth. So, there is no need to say this the place to stay! Tks Mark and Elisabeth for being such great hosters! I hope to see you guys next year.

  • Elizabeth's house was super clean and our bedroom and bathroom were impeccable. Her house has a numeric key lock so it was a breeze getting in and we had no issue coordinating a time to arrive as she did not have to wait for us to hand out keys.
She left a bottle of wine with a welcoming note by the kitchen counter and we even had 2 bars of chocolate left by our night stands. The bathroom towels were clean and fluffy and you could not find a dirty spot in the tub even if you wanted (I'm very picky with showers).
The bed is a full and although we prefer queen size, we had a great night sleep. The house is a bit far from the downtown action but it takes only about 10 min by car to get to South Congress, 6th street and so on. The neighborhood is very nice and newish so it was quiet and safe. I would highly recommend a stay at Elizabeth and Mark's home!

  • Had a wonderful stay with Elizabeth and Mark.
A severe snow storm back home resulted in needing to stay a second night (no problem said the hosts) which only doubled the pleasure.
Had a nice walk around the neighborhood with Mark. This is an interesting mixed used development that converted an old municipal airport into housing, retail restaurants.
The whole experience reminded why I canceled my reservation on a nice traditional hotel chain out on the Interstate.
When I return to Austin (and I must), I know where to stay.

  • We had a FANTASTIC stay with Elizabeth and Mark. Their house is in a great location and they are very warm hosts. The house is a perfect place to spend a few days. We got in kinda late on the first night. Mark was waiting up for us and Elizabeth had baked us cookies! They immediately made us feel right at home. We will definitely stay with them again when we are in the Austin area!

  • If anyone wants to know how to craft the perfect AirBnb experience, they should visit Elizabeth and Mark to see how it's done! Everything was welcoming, clean, and friendly. The attention to every detail was obvious and appreciated. They also gave us good tips on running and recreation, important to us. We'd love to stay again if the need arises!

  • If you're planning to visit Austin and don't know where to stay yet, don't think twice! You found THE place. Elizabeth and Mark are great hosters (and blessed human beings!). I had a wonderful time staying with them for South by Southwest. The house is very charming, confortable and is much prettier than the pictures. You will no regret, I guarantee.
