Your Haven for Mardi Gras or Jazz Fest... Close to parade routes

The Space

I am here to provide a comfortable and happy place to stay a night, week, or months...
My home is in the center of New Orleans, Uptown! A few blocks from the Heart of Magazine with restaurants, markets, antique shops, and trendy shops.
It is close to Uptown and downtown... Buses within a few blocks, streetcar 8 blocks away... Everything you can imagine right within your grasp..
Nice home sleeps 2, (it is a share, I will be in the other room snuggled away leaving you lots of space, unless you want company or information) newly renovated, tv, kitchen, everything you need... linens, pots, pans, towels.... For your New Orleans experience!

Guest Access

Yard; blocks to restaurants and boutiques, Walgreens, Market... Walking distance to Mardi Gras parade routes; Streetcar and other forms of transportation.

Interaction with Guests

I will be busy living in this wonderful city, (and out of your way)... I will be available on an as needed basis, unless you would like to spend some time. I have stories of the area to share if you are interested. I would be happy to pick up at the airport for a small fee.

The Neighborhood

I love the restaurants, shops, and ease of getting what I need right around the corner (market, pharmacy, etc) There is a bohemian flavor to the Irish Channel and it is steeped in history. My house was built in the early 1800's. People are friendly. There are a number of little parks in close proximity. I am two blocks from the river, so the air feels alive. I can hear birds sing through my windows.

Getting around

Great location... a bus is two blocks away and the streetcar is 8 blocks away. Right off Magazine, so lots of public transport there buses, taxis, and even the Double Decker on off bus for viewing this fabulous city.

Other Things to Note

There is a washer and dryer in the apartment

  • I had the wonderful opportunity to stay a month with Mimsie. She has done everything right for me to feel like at home. She is caring and very attentive to people’s needs. The home was a lovely place with a very interesting history, near to everything, just a few blocks from St Charles (where you can easily take the street car to French quarter), Magazine St, and Garden District... It is really “the heart of NO”! The room had all the necessary comfort, very quiet. Mimsie knew it was my 1st time in NO so she let me discover the area and introduced me to very kind people. I had only wonderful times with her that will remain in my heart. Mimsie really has a good heart. I love her artistic side and I miss her contagious laugh already. Thank you for everything! She is a great hostess and I recommend her, it’s the best place to be!

  • We booked with Mimsie one day before heading to NOLA so we were thrilled with her quick reply and flexibility to our last minute planning. The location was pretty much exactly where we wanted -- west of downtown craziness, near the streetcar, close to Magazine St. shops. The approach from Tchoupitoulas was a bit more industrial than I thought, but when I learned the streets up to Magazine it felt like more of a neigborhood. Despite the industrial history of the area the house was amazingly quiet (just morning trash trucks, like any city block) and I appreciated the off street parking. The room was totally fine, great for sleeping in and resting after social adventures, all amenities solid and clean and totally adequate for a home base of NOLA fun. Little to no overlap with the host, though she gave us excellent tips from downtown parking to delicious food and local music - much appreciated!

  • My friend and I had a fabulous time at Mimsie's place! There is no place I'd rather be for Mardi Gra. She is extremely friendly, helpful, and inviting. The house is located in a prime location - far enough away from the madness, but close enough for walking or transit. No car needed! Don't hestitate to book this place. I promise you won't regret it!

  • I didn't have the greatest experience at this place as described before arrival. It was slightly messy upon arrival in some areas, bugs were found in the bathroom, and no clean linen. The owner was very respondent and I will still use airbnb going forward!
