The location of the apartment is excellent. I think it's so convenient to different places in Barcelona. I will recommend this apartment to my friends.
the apartment is in an excellent location and the rooms look like on the pictures. jon's friend waited for us in the apartment and gave us a short introduction and some nice tips. you can hear the voices from the vivid street but usually it was no problem at night. wifi worked excellent. the bathroom is clean and basic with a little noisy air fan.
i would stay there again. it was a great time.
Jon is a lovely host! we have enjoyed the apartment very much, location is great! This area of Barcelona is the best! We will definately book this flat again.
An amazing experience that I will cherish forever. Thanks Jon!!! And thanks Rosa for all your help too:)
Jon was excellent, the place was excellent as was the location, overall an excellent time and the city treated us very well!!
The apartment was very nice, exactly as described and the photos are accurate. Great location, we were able to walk to the majority of our destinations throughout our few days there, only using public transit for one of our day's activities. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was equipped with everything needed. Bathroom had all the supplies we needed. There are grocery stores and convenience stores and pharmacies all around. We were greeted by a manager, who was actually not the owner of the apartment, who showed us everything in the apartment and gave us restaurant recommendations in the neighborhood when we arrived.
There was a snafu that occurred upon arriving; only the bed in the bedroom was made and ready, and the sofa bed in the living room was not prepared. When I inquired, the manager expressed surprise that we were expecting the two beds; apparently, they assume that when there are two guests, they are a couple - but we were a pair of girlfriends traveling together. I explained this, and said that we booked the apartment because the description said there were TWO BEDS. The manager still put the blame on me, saying I should have clarified this with them before. I disagree, because when I see an apartment advertised with 2 beds, I expect two beds, simple. And, for the record, I had used the word "friends" when initially inquiring about booking this place. It ended up being fine because it turned out there were clean sheets stashed away, my fear was that we wouldn't have sheets. But still, not the type of conversation you're in the mood for upon arriving after a day of travel.
Other details: they really ought to change the shower curtain because it was covered in mold.
The nature of the neighborhood, being in the old gothic quarter with very narrow streets and buildings very close to each other, made it extremely noisy. We would hear people shouting in the streets, echoing up through the narrow street right into our window (while closed) through the wee hours of the morning every night. Loud neighbors came home screaming at the top of their lungs at around 3am on multiple occasions, in the middle of the week.
The most irritating thing, however, was the key to the front door of the building. There was some "trick" to it and unless you had a university diploma in special door opening, opening the front door was a huge hassle every time we came back to the apartment. The first two days or so it would literally take me over 10 minutes to open the door, find the right position, say a prayer, etc. Then it got slightly easier but was still a hassle. When I called the manager about it he seemed rather unwilling to help - I discovered that this is the downside when you rent an airbnb without the actual owner living upstairs or around the block. I would not rent this again.
