The Space

Great vacation house that features amazing proximity to downtown while feeling like a retreat in the woods. The house is over 2000 sq ft. and has 3 large bedrooms plus an office, The master has a queen, the second bedroom has a twin, and the third has an American Leather brand queen sleeper sofa with the highest quality foam. The living room couch has a ratchet system that allows it to lie flat as a double bed. There is also a fold-out cot for 1 and an air mattress queen. Altogether you can sleep 8. There are two full bathrooms. Master has separate bath and shower.

The house is equipped with Wifi, Roku, Netflix, DVD Player.

The outdoor deck spans the back of the house, and comes with a Gas BBQ. There are woods in the backyard so it feels like a cabin retreat.

The kitchen is well stocked with all the appliances you might need: Fridge with water/ice maker, Stove, Microwave, Toaster oven, Vitamix, Tea Maker, Waffle Maker, Crock Pot, Coffee Maker.

The house also has double water filtration--a whole home filtration system to remove chlorine and a reverse osmosis filter in the kitchen for drinking water. Everyone tells us you can really tell how much better the water tastes.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Just organized a girls weekend to celebrate my sister's upcoming wedding, and Nina and Mike's place was a great pick! I had done extensive research to find a place that was both affordable and lovely and their house fit the bill.

Before arriving they were very responsive to any questions I had about their place and what to do in Austin. Hamilton Pool was among their recommendations, which I otherwise wouldn't have come across, a wonderful pick!

Their house comfortably sleeps 6 when you're doubling up (1 master bed, 1 queen sized pull out, 1 cot, 1 single bed) and with an air mattress we were able to fit our group of 8. The house is in Barton Springs, situated perfectly for us. On a quiet street, easy access to trail heads, and a ~10min drive to South Congress and the Austin life. The house comes with a deck, which we enjoyed in the late afternoons too.

Overall a great stay and very down to earth, attentive hosts!

  • This was our second time here, and we won't hesitate to make it a third if we get the chance.
Mike and Nina were the perfect hosts as the last time and the house is still amazing. Thank you so much!

  • Very kind family, went out of their way to help us secure another bicycle for #SXSW -- and a beautiful home! Great option for a small group of colleagues looking for a place easily commutable to downtown and the best views in the city.

  • Mike and Nina were super responsive and incredibly accommodating. The location is perfect! Close to the airport, close to downtown, and close to great local eats! The house is great. Spacious and tons of natural light. Thanks for everything!!

  • From our first interaction Mike and Nina were great hosts! I received a phone call from Nina before our trip where she asked me lots of questions to attempt to tailor our experience in her home. She acquired bikes and helmets for our kids to use, arranged the bedding how I wanted it, etc. The house was clean and inviting when we arrived. I was amazed at how much natural light there was. Nina was very thoughtful and had purchased some cereal, milk and other items for us upon arrival. My kids were enamored with the house, quickly declaring it "the most amazing house ever". The bright colors and fun toys/books/etc. quickly won them over.

The house is in an amazing location. Next to Zilker Park and Barton Springs, and a quick drive downtown. There were lots of restaurant and shopping options nearby (I ate at Chuy's far too many times - so delicious!).

The house was very comfortable and very kid friendly. So many fun and interesting books, netflix, toys and art supplies were plenty.

If we ever had any issues Nina and Mike were easily accessible via text or phone call, and always very kind and easy to work with.

I only wish I could live in such a convenient location, with such amazing (email hidden) to visit.

My wife Nina and I like to bike on the hike and bike trail--starts just minutes from our house-- with our son in tow on his tagalong. Our house is convenient for biking to Zilker park and all its festivals, Zach theatre and the Long Center, and both spring fed pools (Deep Eddy and Barton Springs), and to all the shops and restaurants downtown, so we plan some activity out almost every weekend. We also hike through the Greenbelt, and tube on the creek (5 minute walk) whenever there's water. We love to barbecue and enjoy dinners on the deck. And we grow our own vegetables in a garden plot on the side of the house. Nina is a family photographer so spends a lot of time photographing kids in the parks of Austin, and I'm usually at home programming. We are passionate adventure travelers and want to see the world but always seem to end up on the East Coast where our families live. We will do everything possible to make your stay wonderful and to provide you with every resource and amenity we (or you!) can think of. We're here for you!
